We had a great trip to Havana, Cuba with Viva. Our guide, hotel and excursions organised were all top notch. A very interesting place to visit made better because of the guide who had lived there his whole life. Knowledgable and fun.
An organised trip is definitely the way to go as there is no internet coverage (or extremely slow) at the hotels to organise anything Breakfasts and lunch were included which was great as the family run restaurants were tucked away in out of the way places that we wouldn't have found ourselves.

The vacation was wonderful. My family enjoyed all the excursions and the travel guides were amazing. Jeremy, the guide who pick us up when we arrived in Buenos Aires made us feel so comfortable and welcomed. Buenos Aires is a beautiful place and the area where we stayed was safe and tourist friendly. We walked along the city enjoying every bit of it! The only issue we had was the comfort inside of the hotel room (OWN Recoleta hotel) we were in. The bed was firm and the furniture was flimsy, but it was clean and the staff was friendly, kind and courteous. The Dinner and Tango show was my favorite excursion. Everything about it was excellent! The performers were professional and delightful to watch. The food was simply delicious! The steak was mouth watering! We also enjoyed the catamaran ride along the Tigre Delta, the sight-seeing of the surrounding cities and learning about some of the history of Argentina from the guides. We even visited the cathedral where our current Pope was cardinal and the grave site of Evita Peron. Iguazu Falls was magnificent, a wonderful family experience! I especially enjoyed the Argentina side but my husband liked the Brazilian side better, our children enjoyed it all. They both were amazing! Our guide, Andreas for the Iguazu Argentina side was excellent. He made us feel at home in their country. Majority of all of our tour guides and drivers were attentive and kind. The only complaint I have is that our guide who picked us up from the airport when we arrived in Iguazu Falls wasn't too friendly. The hotel, La Cantera Jungle Lodge was very comfortable, the beds were soft, the hammock on the private deck was a refreshing surprise and the staff was friendly and courteous. The quality of the food at La Cantera hotel wasn't that appealing to our taste buds, but the service was good. I do recommend bringing snacks because it is a secluded resort. Over all the tour was fantastic! I appreciate all the amazing excursions, the beautiful scenery and the Argentinian people!

I was very disappointed with my Viva Expeditions Experience.
In the days leading up to my trip, the person I was working with would not respond to my question about making sure I could get a sleeping bag from an outfitter since I was unable to bring my in my luggage. She did send me an email about a change in hotel but didn’t respond to my question. Additionally, her change instructions were incorrect so I had to wing it.
In Cusco, I met my first guide, he was assigned to show me around the city. He was great. Kind, informative, and extremely helpful. 5 stars for that guy.
That evening I met my trekking guide. He was experienced, intelligent but also impatient. He mentioned that Viva expeditions only gave us 3 days to go a 4-5 day trek. I tried to explain that this was meant as a tune up hike for a longer expedition that I would do after. He did not take my message. He also informed me of a 7 kg weight restriction that Viva hadn’t mentioned fir what I would take with me. I was able to leave gear behind at the hotel and deal with this but had Viva been more informative it would have changed my packing strategy.
One the trail, my guide continued to push hit us to cover two days of very tough ground in one day. It culminated in him getting us stuck between campsites, in the dark and trying to finish and exhausting day in the dark. Not the kind of thing you want on a warm up hike. My guide expressed his frustration to me that I had forced him into this timeline and I tried to get him to understand that it wasn’t my choice and that I would rather that we slow down and not do the entire route then continue in they way that we were.
On the way back from choquequirao I ended up walking alone. My guide hung back and chit chatted with the cook. I may as well have not had him with me. When we made it back to the trail head, he hit a shower while we waited for our ride, I didn’t have time to.
I was and am unhappy with that trek. I took another trek while in Peru, through another company and saw how it can be fine we’ll so I know that this isn’t the local standard. I feel that my guide took unnecessary risks pushing us into the night. I feel like my guide just hung out with his friend, the cook fir most of the trek.

Every arrangement went to plan, all suppliers were where they were meant to be and on time. Half day tour was good and formative, loved the dinner/tango show. Thanks for helping make a fabulous trip!

We had an amazing trip in South America. Viva Expeditions (Emma) did a wonderful job of organising everything for us. It was all so easy. Someone was always there to meet and greet us, we were transferred to our hotels and all our tours were organised for us. It was the best of both worlds - we got to travel independently but all the tricky/messy things were organised for us so we could just go and have our holiday. Would definitely recommend Viva Expeditions and hope to do some more tours with them in the future.

All arrangements for meeting, pickups and tours worked perfectly.
Having everything prepaid was so easy and convenient.
Hotels were ideal for location and quality and what's more the weather was great!
I want to add that Lucia and Andres in Argentina and Bruno in Rio
were all excellent tour guides.

A fantastic well organised tour. Appreciated small group. Many inclusions including breakfast daily, meals at great restaurants, great hotel choices and sightseeing entrance fees. Made some nice friendships with our group. Our tour leader was such a nice person who went over and above his call of duty and was available fir us 24/7. All local guides were also very good. Overall a wonderful experience thanks to Viva.

The transportation to and from the airport was excellent. The Buenos Aires city tour was great. The Saturday trip to the estancia was the highlight of my stay in Buenos Aires! The Tango Show was a huge disappointment. I was stuck in the very back at a table by myself. There was a pole blocking my view of the stage. A photographer came around to all the table for photos EXCEPT mine. I would not recommend the tango show at all and really feel like I should get a refund. Everything else was awesome and showcased the great city.
UPDATE: This matter was handled professionally, courteously, and to my complete satisfaction by Rachel, Tara and Viva Expeditions. Thank you for the follow up.

Our guides were so knowledgeable and welcoming. Our trip would not have been the same had we not used Viva. I would recommend it for anyone looking to have an adventure with a side of comfort! We saw things we would have never seen if we had done the trip on our own.

I had a great time on this trip. I was looking back on all my photos today and can’t believe all the wonderful places I got to see, some of which are rarely visited by other tourists. The truck was fantastic, so comfortable that I never got sick of it, even on long travel days. All accommodation and included meals were of a high standard and the team of Mel and Franco did a brilliant job, pulling together the difficult logistics of travel with providing a fun and informative trip. At 41 I was significantly younger than most of the other members of the group, but that didn’t matter - most of them were fitter than me and stayed out later! I’d highly recommend this trip for anyone who wants to get off the beaten path and see a different part of South America.

I've just returned from an amazing cruise to the Falklands, South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsula. Tara at Viva Expeditions was great to deal with and was very helpful and patient with all my questions. When Tara was on leave someone else from the company always got back to me straight away so would have no hesitation in recommending them. My cruise was with G Adventures and this was also a 5 star experience.
Couldn't fault anything - except the weight gain because the food was so good!

We've just returned from a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Antarctica Peninsula, which we booked thru' Viva Expeditions.
We had terrific and timely response from Tara, and are grateful for her care.
The ship was just as we expected, and included several terrific staff. Nadine kept the shop, and went out of her way to be helpful. Marcos was our steward, and went beyond expectations to make sure we were comfortable and had all we needed. Many of the zodiac drivers were delightful. We especially appreciated the lectures from Gerard and David.
The travel went well, and the sights will never be forgotten!
We did have a fair amount of confusion because of our uncertainty of how Viva Expeditions was connected to Chimu. We thought we would have Viva Expedition staff either on board, or at least as we boarded...but did not ever see anyone who identified themselves as Viva. The Chimu staff person, Craig, was fine, but it wasn't clear he had any sense of who we were, what we needed, or how we were connected with him. He did help get us the right paperwork nearly at the last minute (my mistake to not have hard copies!), and was fine with our boarding the bus from the ship to the airport...but never did make the connection of how he was/is related to Viva.

Our tour was perfectly put together to combine a cool city like Buenos Aires and a stunning example of the natural beauty of South America in Iguazu Falls. Everyone associated with the tour was on time and professional. I would make exactly the same decision again to go with Viva.

We really enjoyed our trip to South America. Viva had put together a package of activities and transfers that matched our requirements well. Wonderful to be met at airports by the reliable and friendly drivers and given an introduction to the locale.

My wife and I are in our 60s. We enjoyed the tour of Glacier NP in Argentina and Torres del Paine in Chile. It was good value, but it would have five stars IF they didn't limit the hikes to the iconic sites, such as Torres del Paine, to only EIGHT hours. The pre-tour information stated "most individuals complete the hikes in eight hours," but that's because they STRONGLY discourage anyone from going on these walks if they want to go a bit slower or remain at the destination (beautiful panorama points) for a little longer. We had long hours of daylight, but it was, Hurry up, hike there, spend a short time, hurry back, wait three hours for dinner. VIVA hires local professional guides, as required, but there seems to be an eight hour 'deadline' for hikes. It's like trying to see the Louvre in Paris in twenty minutes.
Yes, Rachel, we DID request, days in advance, more time, but to no avail. Our leaders implied that if we needed nine or ten hours it would be, somehow, unsafe. They also downplayed the spectacular view, saying that everybody wants to see the towers, but there are other things that are just as impressive.
So of the nine on our tour, four opted to take the easier nature walks which were interesting but different. To others who might want to take these hikes on their own, know that there are many individuals on the easy to follow trails, walking at all paces, fast and slow, lingering here and there, and that the trails are not particularly hazardous IF you are accustomed to all day hikes in the mountains. The last 1km is quite steep, with a bit of scrambling, but still a hike, not a climb.
On the way back down through Valle Ascensio, at Refugio Chileno, with 90 minutes to go to the end, where dozens of hikers were relaxing and refreshing, I offered to buy our guide a beer or a soda, but he refused, saying we had to keep going. So instead of enjoying my time, I didn't even sit down. We completed the 20km walk, with about 800m elev gain and loss, in 7h 42m, a time of which I'm not particularly proud. Nine or ten hours would have been better. The guides are quite knowledgeable regarding flora and fauna, but at that pace there is little time for interpretation.
Then at the bottom, Hosteria Hotel Las Torres, our starting and ending point, we waited 90 minutes for the other four to return from their nature walks.
I hope I was a good sport about it at the time. Yes, there is more to these VIVA tours than these hikes, but if you really want to hike these trails, know that with this company, eight hours means eight hours, no matter how arbitrary that might seem in this beautiful scenery.

Everything was made so easy! Just turned up, all transfers were taken care of perfectly, hotels were lovely and friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Montevideo was just a city but worth having a day to see Uruguay’s capital. The guide was so informative and thumbs up to her for doing the whole tour in Spanish, Portuguese and English. My guide in Colonia was BRILLIANT!!! Such a great way to be introduced to the city and took a couple of his recommendations for dining and things to do.
I give this tour 11/10 and will recommend to anyone! Thank you Viva!!!
