Uniplaces is not a trustworthy site. They have insensitive people who does not care about the money of their customers.
I took a temporary accommodation in Barcelona for one month, so that i can search for my permanent accommodation easily. I booked one room from uniplaces 25 days before shifting, to avoid last minute problems. They charged me completely for the Booking. Now when I was about to leave my previous accommodation, just one week to go, they called me and said that my booking is cancelled, Find a new accommodation, and we will completely refund your money (including our service fee). This was the first thing i wanted to avoid, so that I am not running here and there at the last minute, but the same situation happened because of them. The mail said that it takes from 5-10 days to refund your money. I told them that i require the refund urgently, as I am a student here, I do not have extra funds. I can only book a new accommodation, when I have that amount. It has been over 2 weeks now, I have not received my refund. They do not reply by mail as well.
The whole mistake has been from Uniplaces end, but it is me, who gets to suffer at the end.
I suggest that Uniplaces is not worth relying and further recommendation.

This company has no interest in helping students or people in finding housing, they are in business strictly to steal from people. I submitted what I thought was an inquiry and they charged me $1400 upon submission. As a long term (7month) renter I needed to know a few questions before committing to the property and they have refused to refund my money, and have basically forced the landlord and I to enter an agreement. There are so many trusted and quality rental services, but this is not one of them. Do not use this "service" unless you wish to be forced into a contract. It's terrible.

They take an insane amount of money as booking fee however refuse to
help you in anyway. I wanted to get my money back because i canceled the
place i booked. I went to the office but they refused to speak to me.
because it is an online business. They said they will call me back in
half an hour. Of Course they didn't. All they want is to benefit from
your desperation. Don't book with them they don't support you. They only
want your money

destructive and demotivating experience. my daughter turned to uniplaces for a room specifying that she would only accept solutions with female roommates. uniplaces sent her 4 solutions with photos, but only after paying we could see the room , the pictures were made in perspective. the room was a closet. after this hurdle, a few days later came a boy sent by uniplaces. we asked for information but they did not answer us. Meanwhile the home ownership
left his trainers shoes around the house, also dirty underpants on the ground, in the kitchen next to the table he left his dirty training shoes, and she washes their dog in the kitchen sink. horrendous crap. we had to look for another room incuring other costs. we requested back the deposit but they answered, that was not possible because we violated the contract, for uniplaces there is nothing wrong washing the dog in the kitchen sink and leave dirty underpants around the flat.. this can happen... not to believe.. So please don't TRUST this agency, and NEVER book with this agency. They write 'checked' on the posted AD, but in fact they have never seen the apartment because they have no agents on site and they have no offices. are just a virtual agency that tries to cheat people who come from abroad.

Easy to use site with a good selection of places for various budgets. Uniplaces supplied my accommodation certificate for my visa without me prompting. I am very happy with my place in Lisbon where I will stay 6 months

The best site I SWEAR !
They helped my me in less than 24 hours to find me a home in Milano even if I was late out. I am originally from Sweden and will start at IED design now in October and I had not found anything for a good price or a trusted site. I would recommend this site 100%. It is so much easier when they do all the contacts with the landlord and have your back as a secure and recommend other places when a place is booked or has a problem. Thank yo so much Ettore !

One of your employees, specifically William helped me a lot during my search for a new home in Barcelona. He saw my search history and quickly reacted by calling me and asking how he could help. I’m very thankful to him for all his help and quick responses!

Avoid at all costs - they just want to take 250 booking fee off you and have no interest in helping out with problems.
My wife booked a studio flat in Porto which stated on the ad that it had air conditioning and a window. A week later when she was in Porto to enrol with university and called the landlord to see if she could view the flat. When she visited she found that there was no air conditioning in the room (only in the building - what use is AC in the the corridors?) and the room had no window. The room was claustrophobic and hot. She could not accept living in such a place and so quickly cancelled with just 30 days left otherwise she would have lost a whole months rent (550). As it was she still lost the booking fee and half the months rent - so over 500 down the drain.
On complaining to UniPlaces they simply said that she should have contacted them if she was unhappy before cancelling and as she had not then they could not help in any way. If we had done this then the whole amount would have been lost but they did not care about that. So they said they could not help but offered 20% off the next booking with them (as if we would do that!). They would not refund their fee and were not at all interested in the fact that the studio advert was misleading (it is still there and has not been changed). They made excuses like saying that the listing said AC in the apartment not in the bedroom - it is a studio - the apartment is the bedroom! And the listing clearly states there is a window but they consistently ignored that point. When we asked to escalate the issue to someone higher within the company they just stopped answering the emails.
Their 250 fee is outrageous as they do nothing for it - if the listing is wrong they take no responsibility and do not even ensure that it is corrected. In my opinion they should have returned their fee as they were completely useless and they should have challenged the landlord about the advert and asked him for a refund too.
So unless you want to risk losing a lot of money, do not use Uniplaces. They do not allow you to contact the landlords before booking so you have to cough up your 250 plus first months rent before you ever get chance to see what the rental is really like. They are simply taking advantage of overseas students who are desperate to find accommodation.
If you are looking for student accommodation in Portugal then I would suggest using BQuarto which is free and you can communicate with the people renting. This was what we did next and all went well.

They’re not trustable . My cousin haven’t got paid after refuse from embassy. By there policy letting them know one month before, they never pay back 50%. I would recommend not to book here .

Full disclosure, I wound up not booking my room through them, but they were very helpful to me when I had an issue with a scammy landlord on their site. Kind and quick to respond. My hope is that as Uniplaces grows it gets easier for them to verify properties and landlords because overall the site is very easy to use - for the time being, be very careful with what you book.

Beautiful apartment. Very spacious and stylish. Located in the main area of bars, restaurants and close to the metro station.
Every problem we had the hosts took care of it immediately and they are very responsive.
The two only disadvantages are the squeaky floor and that there is one bedroom without ac.
Besides that, I really recommend it!!

I am very happy with the services of Sara, from Uniplaces. She got in touch with me really fast, through mail, calls and whatsapp, and helped me during the process of the bookings talking to the landlords to ask them all of my questions (and I had a lot!)
She really made the process easier. I am so grateful she helped me find a place to stay after a long time looking on other websites.

There are a lot of rooms to choose, even though some of them are not really available because not all the landlords keep their calendar updated, and the informations about the apartments are satisfying. Joana's help was crucial to find a room, and it wasn't easy because of my short stay (2 months), the customer care is great too if there are some problems to deal with.

I booked a place that was supposedly verified, but they didn't even gave me the same room i booked through the website. Also the hostel itself was a mess: cold, extremely dirty, the "landlord" was not even in the reception in their working hours... And that was verified by uniplaces as a reliable place? Lastly, i can't even have the security deposit back, because apparently i didn't notify uniplaces within 24 hours since my arrival that the place wasn't as i expected, which is not really helping at all with the moving out. I spent a lot of money on uniplaces (you pay like a 150€ fee to uniplaces when you book a place, plus first month of rent) because i thought i could trust this platform and that it will be worth it in the end, but turns out is not like that. I didn't even get the information about the 24 hours thing, at any moment, and when i started writing emails neither of them offer any actual help about that, implying i should have known about it and that they can't do anything now. If you're an international student you really can't spend such amount of money carelessly and have little to no helpful advise.
Uniplaces is not a bad website though, but they should be more careful of which places are they advertising and ACTUALLY go and see how is the place and how it works on a daily basis, even more if it's a hostel/residence/etc. Bad experience overall. Be careful booking through the website and take the "trusted landlord" and "verified place" tags with a grain of salt.

The photos of the place looked so good, SO BIG.
When I came in here, it was so small, that my luggage barely fits, there is no closet, I really don’t know where to put my stuff, I feel really uncomfortable living here. I feel claustrophobic, this place is really really small I can’t do anything, I even had to buy a measuring tape and this place is 2.40 x 2.48 m2.
There is no lock in this room and I didn’t realize until I was sleeping and the landlady, who is a around 70 years old and stays in the apartment all the time, just came in and INVADED my privacy to let someone clean the room. I was almost naked (because it is very hot in here),I couldn’t stand that situation, she didn’t even ask, she just said “I’m coming in”. She enters to the room whenever she wants!!
Another thing, I understand that in the politics it’s Not alowed to have overnight guests and I agree with that, but guests who are not staying the night obviously can come in.
Today, she didn’t let me:
I had my uncle as a guest, he came at 8 pm to pick up the gifts I brought from my country, but he wasn’t going to sleep here. He is my family, I felt so ashamed that I couldn’t even bring him in to visit me. She said “no one is alowed here, not friends, anyone”.
And I had to meet my uncle, my family in the streets.
Then yesterday, as I come from another country I have jetlag, so around 3 am in the morning I was talking to my mom, crying because I can’t stand this place, but I wasn’t shouting, I was just talking very low, literally really speaking silently. The next day, the landlady told me off because she said I was being loud. she said “I understand in your county it’s morning there but you have to deal with that.”
I feel so frustrated, I expected so much more of this page, hoping I could find a nice place, even though many friends told me this page scams. Please I need your help to get me transferred to another place! ASAP.
The day I’m supposed to move in is the 1st of September, but as I arrived the 28th of August she just let me stay for free because it was just a few days until december. I am willing to pay her for the days I’ve been here but I just want to leave now. The university clases starts the 1st of sept!
