I returned the truck 6:05, give minutes after they closed, and the person was still in there and told me to drop the keys in a box. I didn't hear anything about checking in on their website and next day I got charged double. I used the truck for 8 hours and got charged for 2 days.

U-haul is a JOKE. Cancelled on me last minute. The woman I spoke to Aaliyah needs to be fired. Maybe she's never had a real job where she has to deal with the public. She would be better suited for mcdonald's. I will never rent from U-haul ever again.

It's a prerequisite to be really terrible at customer service if you want to work at uhaul in Utah. I recommend doing everything humanly possible to find another company to rent from before settling for this pile of $#*!. The company is obviously owned and operated by $#*!s. God only knows how they're still in business.

Rented from Nehring Uhaul in Newton Ia. On January 27th 2021 for a cross country move. First of all uhaul charges premium prices for their trucks so you would expect the absolute best equipment. NOT SO in this case.
Truck cab was filthy and had not been cleaned or sanitized prior to pickup so we had to do it ourselves. Guess they don't believe covid is real. Got the truck and car trailer FULLY LOADED and noticed as we were pulling out before dawn the next morning that the passenger side seat belt was torn so badly that it was rendered unusable. Too late to trade trucks so we had to make a 1400 mild trip without it.
The stress of possibly being exposed to a virus and my wife not being safe because of this company's negligence in inspecting the truck PRIOR to releasing it to be rented made it the most miserable and dangerous trip I have ever taken. I called Uhaul corporate and they were uninterested in my predicament. The exact response was "well, you got there didn't you? Then took 200.00 off an already over inflated price. Dangerous filthy vehicles, crappy unhelpful service and a total lack of concern for the safety of their customers. DO NOT USE UHAUL. I never will again.

We tried to use the mobile services to pick up a truck because they didn't have any available at the locations with actual people. We drove 30 mins to pick up a truck and the code didn't work. Sat on the phone with a lady. Tried 3 different codes and none of them worked. Left and cancelled the reservation, went to a location with a person and picked up a bigger truck to avoid the issues with the mobile pick up. They sent us to a lot down the road to pick up the truck. The paper listed the gas in the truck as 3/4 full. Started the truck and it was 1/4 full. Called and the man said he would mark it and not to worry about bringing it in. Took a picture to be safe. Sure enough 2 weeks later I'm getting messages that I owe $42 even though I returned it with more gas than it had in it. Unbelievable

I don't leave reviews but I am furious with U-haul Company! This is the 5th time they have done this since 2018 and I draw a line this time!
It has always been the same bad service and it's nothing to do with Covid-19 situation!
I made a one way reservation with the Guaranteed availability or get a $50 refund which I didn't get. On the day of pick up, I went online to check in and noticed that the pick up address changed to Laurel MD. Location!? WHAT kind of Guarantee was that? La Plata, MD and Laurel, MD is ONE HOUR + driving difference. TIME AND MONEY we have to spend for their convenience! U-Haul Company SUCKS in scheduling and customer service!
Maybe they are some good reviews because of the same location pick up and delivery BUT their one way service is a HASSLE to go through!
They just change their pick up location as they pleased at the last minute. They sent you an email late night after hours, which you might not see and called it an excuse that they did inform you of the change which is too late to change our plans for the next day at that time anyway. They don't call you in the early morning a day before to try to let you know or give you alternatives so you can schedule your day accordingly!
Previous time was the same thing, We went a long and went to the location they changed it to and when we arrived at the new location were they sent us off to pick up, they said NO SORRY we don't have the truck and sent us to a different location and they also sent us to a different location from there and after 3 location and FOUR HOURS we got a Truck. Can you believe that! What company does that and stay in business for this long?
If it was one time, two times, you could say it's okay, it happens but ALL the time, IT'S NOT ACCEPTABLE.
I will leave a review every where I can so customers know what kind of company they are dealing with and watch for disappointments.

I moved a small number of items after settling an estate. The number of items was just about the max for one U-Box storage unit, but I might have needed two. The U-Haul representative responded.. "No problem, just order two. You'll only be charged for the one you use." U-Haul could not deliver my U-Box to my destination residence, so they contracted the last leg of the move to their affiliated partner, MovingHelp. MovingHelp contracts out their assignments to unscrupulous and unvetted companies. SafeCare Moving is the company MovingHelp contracted to complete my move. I only used one U-Haul U-Box. MovingHelp only received one U-Box. SafeCare Moving called me to tell me there were two boxes on the work order, but only one box to move. MovingHelp and U-Haul are each blaming each other for the fact that they couldn't keep the order or the billing accurate. SafeCare Moving has not responded to entreaties by MovingHelp to refund me the $400.00 over charge.
None of these organizations is taking ANY responsibility for their mistake. Save yourself the trouble. Do not use U-Haul, MovingHelp, or SafeCare Moving.

UPDATE: drive in the rain an hour to Philly to pick up the truck only to get to the sketchy supermarket and THERE IS NO TRUCK. I suddenly get a text message that the truck is another 20 minutes away. We go on a scavenger hunt through Philly in a weird neighborhood in the dark and in the rain and finally find the truck. No tow dolly. I have to get the tow dolly at a second location the next day. Get home and find out that they changed my one way reservation to a round trip and want me to bring back the truck to Philly location. I call customer service and I’m on hold for 45 minutes while my husband is also on hold with customer service. Finally get through to someone on the live chat who tells me no, your reservation is a one way and I see the drop off location at your new destination. I said well on my end when I log into the account it shows that I need to drop it off back in Philly which is impossible as my new destination is 3 hours away. We go back and forth, her telling me one and thing and me saying another. I ask her to send me what the drop off location is and she tells me stat I have it in my account. I tell her I’m logged into my account right now and it’s showing Philly could you please send me the drop off location you have listed. Go around and around again. She gives me a PHONE NUMBER that I have to call before I drop off to TELL me where to drop off. So I said, so you didn’t have the location all along? No answer. Finally get to new destination, drop off truck and tow dolly. I’m at my new house for probably a week and I get a call from Uhaul. Where is the tow dolly? I said I dropped it off at the drop off location provided with the truck? They say oh! The tow dolly was supposed to be dropped off at a separate location from the truck. Excuse me? Who in their right mind would do that?? Long, long story short. It is OVER. I’m finally done with the drama that is Uhaul and I will never, NEVER rent from them or recommend to anyone I know.
First time I rented with Uhaul was 2 weeks ago. I ordered a 20’ truck, one way. 2 days before I’m supposed to pick up I get a call that says they’ve downgraded to a 10’ truck. The woman was actually embarrassed to tell me because it is SUCH a downgrade. However that woman was extremely helpful and this review is not for her. Because we couldn’t get everything in one go, we rented another truck and a tow dolly (2 weeks in advance) that is to be picked up in 2 days. Guess what, I get another call. We don’t have a 20’ truck available. We’ve downgraded you to 15’ BUT the pick up place is now an hour away. I call customer service and the “scheduling manager” was HORRIBLE. I told her exactly what happened and honestly this is now ridiculous. Twice in a row I’ve been in this position. She starts listing off excuses and saying “well if I had a crystal ball then I’d know when customers were going to drop off the vehicles and it’s not my responsibility”. I said honestly I don’t care what your system is, what are you going to do for me? And she says, “why would I give you a discount when you are already getting a smaller vehicle that’s cheaper?” I point blank said, this is the worst customer service experience I have ever had and I am in the industry. Your tone is unbelievable. The entire time I’m explaining my situation you have done nothing but interrupt and talk over me. How is anyone supposed to schedule moving?”. She says “well I can transfer you to customer support but I don’t think they can do anything for you” and I said no thank you, I don’t need you to “transfer” me anywhere because you don’t want to listen anymore. I am done. BYE”. and I hung up. SO NOW I have to drive an hour to Philly to pick up a vehicle in the night in a supermarket parking lot and then the next day drive another 30 minutes to pick up a tow dolly for the car.

The customer service in dutchess county is TRASH! The staff are rude and they offer things that they don’t really have for customers! What the hell is the point of offering promotions and deals that they don’t really have. People have things to do hence why they’re at the place renting items. Good thing there’s other places to rent from but it’s really sad

4 times I have tried to book a two-day rental for a 20-foot van to make a move from Toronto to London and four times I've been told no there is not available, until the last time today that I enquired how getting a date or days booked and then they switched my booking time that I requested... This is a big problem... I was told that they only want to book the truck 8 hours a day and they're trying to get two days of rental out of one truck this business model is not customer service friendly and it is not something that would appeal to anybody that is trying to do it yourself... this company cannot exist without you as a customer and the inability to meet the needs of people... their exorbitant prices reflect the poor business structure and as I wasn't able to get a vehicle this is why so many have bad experiences... Look at the reviews, this company is poorly run and you should never put your money at risk by using them. The lowest rating unfortunately was 1 * that is a lofty rating in my eyes.

I've been trying to rent a 26' truck for a month and half for a specific date. They conveniently phrase their reservation process in a way to allude that is not guaranteed. What the reservation- is essentially a waiting list, however they refuse to refer to it as a waiting list. It is a non-guaranteed reservation.
Every time i speak to someone about the truck i need for pickup on the Nov 20th, i get a different story, about the availability of a vehicle. They put me on hold without asking, and transfer me to someone else where i have to re-explain everything again and the exact same thing happens.
Terrible people. Terrible company. Terrible business practices.

I made a reservation to pick up a cargo van 9:00 in the morning one town over from where I live. The night before, I get a check in email, and the van pickup was now very far away, and close to noon. That kind of late start was unacceptable, and when I have limited mileage, I refuse to drive that far to pick the van up. I had to cancel the reservation, and that left me high and dry. I initially made my rental with U-Haul, and U-Haul sent me to get a rent a wreck at the last minute. I will never ever even consider using U-Haul in the future.

We were literally f'ed by Uhaul twice in one day... the worst moving experience of our lives and will never rent from Uhaul again.
We made a reservation to rent a truck two days before our rental / move out date. Apparently, there is a notification that they give you while you are creating your reservation saying that they cannot guarantee a truck for you - which is something I have never heard about before and have never had an issue with in the past.
Well... 8 am we show up to get our truck that we had a reservation for and guess what! No truck for us. Lucky for us... we needed to be out that day - great!
As polite as the woman was, she literally did nothing for us other than give us a phone number to call God knows who else to help solve our issue.
So, we call and the woman says that we can have a truck by noon time that day. She said straight out that A TRUCK WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR YOU AT NOON - then took our reservation.
We even call the store to VERIFY THAT WE WILL HAVE A MOVING TRUCK to cover ourselves so we can get small things done in the morning.
Okay great...
Noon time comes around. We show up to the next Uhaul location.
Guess what? No truck! Again!
Obviously getting extremely disappointed and frustrated at this point... And of course - the lovely lady up front literally did NOTHING for us again. I asked her if she could call the people who have not returned the truck yet to see if there is any hope and her response was "Well. You can call them if you want."
Fan Freaking Tastic. Thank you so much Uhaul for the worst moving experience of our life.
End of the story is that we did not rent from them - yes we did get moved that day (No thanks to Uhaul).
I strongly suggest that you DO NOT rent from this company. They will screw you like they did us. If I could give 0 stars I would.

I would have given zero stars, but this wasn't available. I rented and paid for a uhaul in Carson City, NV to be picked up on a Wednesday evening to be loaded, also paid for movers, on Thursday morning. They emailed me at 6:30 pm on Tuesday night and told me my order had been "updated" and I no longer had a truck. Are you kidding me!?! I reserved it and paid for it!!! This is the WORST business I have ever dealt with. Avoid Uhaul at all costs!!!!

The U-Haul U-Box process was an absolute nightmare. I made my reservation about 60 days in advance. My friend was going tomorrow. Loaded with the rest of my stuff and drop it back off at U-Haul to have them ship it down to me. About one day before the pickup day, they called then the location changed again. on the day of pickup the location changed two more times before my friend showed up to pick up the U-Box. When he arrived, they had an issue completing the reservation and they could not assign a particular you box to my reservation. they allowed my friend to take the u-box and told me to call back the next day to confirm that they had everything squared away. I called the next day and they told me everything was taken care of and we are good to go. My friend just needed to bring the u-box back in a week so they could ship it to me. After a week, my friend brought the u-box back full of my stuff, and once again they had issues. Apparently being good to go is code for we did absolutely nothing. They could not get the U-Box attached to my reservation. So now all of my stuff is sitting in a U-Haul location in a box not assigned to any reservation. I spent about 4 hours on the phone with U-Haul at this point. Finally, they got everything taken care of and shipped my U-Box. when it arrived, it arrived to a different location than where they told me it would ship to. I went to pick it up and while I was there, it took me 45 minutes at the counter for them to figure things out. They could not release the U-Box off of my reservation for me to take away. Then they finally figured that out and when it came time to pay the balance they could not process the payment because they said that my bank was declining the payment. I looked at my bank statement and they already charged my account for the reservation. Along with another charge for $5. they ended up refunding the $5 charge and after about 15 minutes of looking into the situation, they realized that they did charge me for the shipment. They let me take the u-box with me. I noticed my bank account was a little short. after looking into it, it turns out they charged me twice for the shipment. We are talking to charges of over $400. I called U-Haul immediately and they tried telling me that I had to do all the leg work to get my money refunded. I told them that they were out of their mind if they thought for one second I was going to spend hours on the phone tracking down who I needed to talk to and faxing paperwork to them to prove that they charged me twice. I told them that they should have a record of who they charged and what amount and they needed to figure it out. ultimately they found that they charged me twice and told me that they will refund the additional charge back to my card. all I have to say is that I will never ever use U-Haul? I recommend that if you do not want the headache then you go with another company too. It might cost you a little more but how much more justifies not going through what I went through. I'm not even convinced that I am done dealing with U-Haul yet. It's sad that I have to wait for a month continually checking my bank account to make sure that they did not screw me over again. Was around 12 hours in the last all I could get from them is " I'm sorry "

We had a tow hitch installed on a light truck last year sometime. Hitch is solid.
Recently I noticed our trailer lights wrong. Apparently we never checked them before. Rewired the whole trailer, still wrong. Finally traced to an incorrect wiring installation when they did the tow hitch. Somehow they flipped the brown with the yellow wires (running lights with left turn signal). They didn't bother to check their work, which is obvious because the wiring connector on the truck has 3 led's on it where you just activate a given light (turn signals / running lights) and the led turns on / blinks. Clearly labeled. Took me 5 seconds to figure it out which led was which, 30 to run back and forth and find it wired incorrectly. Easy fix. Not everyone is handy though or has the proper tools. Make sure you have them show you a successful installation or check their work.

I rented a moving truck with a guarantee from the U-Haul moving center on Mannheim Pike in Lancaster, PA October 3,2020. When I arrived there was not truck available and no apology. Also they offered no alternative. I was left with a house full of packed goods and no way to move them. They also refused to pay the $50.00 guarantee promised if the equipment was not available. Unreliable, dishonest and a good company to stay away from.

I had a horrible experience renting a truck from Uhaul. I had booked a "guaranteed reservation" months in advance in IL for my one way move to NH and was told less than 24 hours before that there were no trucks available for over a week. I had movers booked the next morning that I had already been charged for, through U-Haul none-the-less and was told the only option was to drive to Indiana to get a truck. When we arrived they didn't have the equipment we had rented but charged me for it, so we had to go back to another location in IL to get the equipment. We were only given $100 off of the invoice to accommodate 2 hours of driving, additional miles and tolls from IL. No one seemed to care or be accommodating of breaking the "Guaranteed Reservations" slogan. Very disappointed in my experience. Will not rent from Uhaul again.

We experienced, in our opinions, atrocious customer service (one exception) and lack of respect for UHaul’s customers. My adult daughter and her friend (who took the day off from work to assist) arranged to rent a UHaul truck to move her belongings. She was told over the phone that because she years ago was listed as a driver on someone else’ rental who had some issue with UHaul that she could not rent the truck directly. She was told explicitly, however, and I was in on that call via speaker with the representative, that if I, her father, rented the vehicle with my credit card, she could be the driver (I repeatedly, perhaps because I am an experienced lawyer, made it clear my daughter would be the driver), and the rental would go ahead. We both participated actively in this call. She was asked for her driver’s license info (I was not), and she gave it. I was asked for my credit card info and we gave it and all was confirmed. The representative also said that I would have to go to the rental facility with her, which I did. At the facility, the rep there said the computer barred the transaction. We explained the situation and the assurances that had been given. He was extremely patient, understanding and polite and made I think a number of calls in our presence and clearly spent a lot of time and effort calling up the chain to speak to a manager but ultimately, after an hour or so, was told by those he called that we could not proceed with the rental. We instead were told my daughter would receive a call within 3 business days!!! This resulted in a lot of wasted time and irritation and some expense. We later went to Home Depot which quickly provided my daughter a rental truck with no hassle whatsoever. 5 stars Home Depot. 0 for UHaul (except the rep at the facility). Would be appropriate for UHaul to compensate us for our lost time and the aggravation. It amazes me how a company can think this is good business, let alone not care about the people attempting to patronize it. NB: when we were waiting at the facility I had time to look at and saw that I had an email confirmation and clicked on a link in it and saw that it only had my name and 0 additional drivers, in direct contradiction to the agreement made in the call. I do hope that call was recorded.)

They have messed up 2 of my moves so far! Back in 2017, They didn't have the truck I ordered 2 days in a row!
Fast forward to today, I have a U-box problem. I rented 2 U-boxes and they couldn't place them due to equipment failure and forgot the lock I ordered. The worst part, I can't have them delivered to my new location. I need to find a truck and move them myself or buy their "mover" help! I had to bounce around between 4 customer service reps that had no clue what they are doing. They ordered me 2 new U-boxes instead! Whatever you pay them, it is too much! Do yourself a favor, and go anywhere else. You will be glad you did.
