The team at Split Rail Fence Co. built a beautiful split rail fence for our family. The build quality was top notch, and they were easy to work with. The pricing was right on target as well.

Horrible work. Warranty for only 1 year and there is a reason. I called because my door won't shut properly and this is a new build home. Only 19 months old. They said sorry we only cover up to a year. It'll cost you $250 to fix it. !? Insanely bad customer service. Autumn is the warranty agent... took her 2 weeks to respond. Wouldn't recommend this company to ANYONE. I am not want to leave a bad review so you know it's bad.

My family and I just had a combination of Western Red Cedar and Montage Ornamental Steel Fences installed on our adjoining properties.
We worked, initially, with Chris Cox, who merged his company, Brothers Fence, with Split Rail Fence, during this process. There was some initial confusion after the merging of the two companies, but Chris responded positively to our concerns, was accommodating, and promised to follow our fence installation through to a satisfactory completion. Chris was true to his word. After the fences were installed, he personally came to inspect some of the work we were not satisfied with, and had a crew return to correct the problems in a timely manner. The work crew had a positive attitude, and did everything that was requested of them to our satisfaction. We are now happy customers who recommend Split Rail Fence to others who want to work with a company that cares about customers being satisfied with the final product.

Split Rail came out to repair gates on my fence last week. Marcel was highly efficient, incredibly friendly, took a great amount of pride in his work and left a few hours later with an excellent finished product. Would recommend these guys to anyone for new fences, repairs, etc.

We had went in with our neighbor to the showroom we wanteded to see what a good neighbor fence looked like since both of us wanted mirror image and a finished look. They showed us a picture in their notebook what it would look like on both sides. It was more expensive then the regular fence. We picked the good neighbor since it was a finished look on both sides. As the fence was going up I could see on our side it was not the finished look I was told. I started questioning the workers they told me to call the office and they continued to work. I called the office and got the showroom they told me I had to talk to Chris who came out to do the measuring he told me what they tell you in the showroom is different then the way they put it up in the field, and since my name was not on contract he could not do anything. I went to talk to my neighbor about it since we were paying half of the cost for our side he did want to do anything about it and told me to "F" it. So we only paid half of what we were to pay. Now we are not on speaking terms with our neighbor because of this. My point is we did not get what we were told by their show room people. If we New what it was going to look like we would have went with the cheaper fence that has the unfinished side. We have been going back and fourth with split rail fence to correct the problem. Their answer is they won't do anything. Their customer service is awful/giving out false information/exspensive.

My neighbor had their fence replaced and we share a 30 foot section. When they removed the section we share, they reversed the fence (so that I now had the backside instead of the finished side - which looked incredibly stupid). When I called to complain, the salesman told me that that was how it was drawn up in the contract (which I never agreed to, let alone even saw).
HOWEVER, and this is where the 4-stars comes in, when I was able to escalate my concerns to the owner, he was appalled and apologetic. He had recently purchased the company and was working on changing the way business is done. Within a couple weeks he sent out a crew to put pickets on my side - free of charge without my persuasion.
They may have erred to start with, but they did make up for it and did the right thing in the end. I am a big proponent of customer service and it seems like they are on the right track.

The fence is great. Excellent workmanship. Quality product. I had a problem with the Split Rail Fence Representative returning my calls and emails. I found piles of dirt on my property where the drilled the fence post holes. They did not reconnect and secure my fence on my property and I had to request it be secured and reconnected in the front and back of my property. The workers seemed not to want to fix the issue. But after calls to Split Rails Fence it was taken care of. The workers did not leave my side of the property as the found it.
I would recommend Split Rail Fence because of the product quality and workmanship but caution close monitoring.

The actual job of installing a 55 foot fence in the backyard and two 8 foot fences in the front with a gate took all of 2 days to complete, and they did an excellent job with that. However, actually getting people out to do this took over 2 months, and that was after paying for 50% of the project up front. Nobody at the main office ever had any idea what was going on and would always refer me back to my sales contact, who was pretty much impossible to get a hold of by phone and took over a week to respond to any emails. I actually had to call and email 3 different people over the course of 2 weeks after the project was done so I could pay off the remaining balance! I love my new fence, but I'm not sure it was worth the 2 months of aggravation I had to go through to get it.

The work they did is great. Prompt and didnt leave a mess. However, I've been waiting months for the post cap on my corner post that they did not have at the time of the repair. When I called they told me they would be out to install it as soon as they could. I'm still waiting.

The crews that worked onmy fence were very good and put in a solid sturdy fence. They were friendly and answered all questions.
The one thing they should improve on is cleanning up all the nails ect. on the ground and attention to detail. (i.e. replacing chewed up boards with good ones especially in places that are highly visible like gates.
When I called to tell them about this problem they did come out and change the boards.

Splitrail was not good at all in terms of communication prior to the work being done. They did not return calls or emails. I also was required by them to meet Comcast/Xcel at home to locate underground lines. I cancelled appointments to meet them at my house at 1pm. When nobody showed up, I called Splitrail and was told that I was 'waived' given a database search, but nobody thought to inform me. However, the ultimate product was good. I wasn't at all sure there would be a fence around my yard when I arrived home on a Friday evening, but low and behold there was.

They had to come out and adjust my fence 3 times because they screwed it up the first two, left garbage(not construction material) all over my yard and their supervisor was never available

Split rail took over 2 months to figure out what territory I was in. I finally told them that I don't care who the rep is, they just needed to send somebody out to measure and give me a quote. They did a good job putting the fence in once they figured out who the rep was. I called back for additional work and got the same run around with the territory and then they told me they wouldn't do the second job for us. The fence is okay but the customer service is poor at best.

In Backcountry at Highlands Ranch, fencing is required through this company. We had our yard enclosed. We asked for a specific gate. The salesman took our order and deposit, and we were told there was no extra charge to have the color match our railings (he even referred to a color chart in his book). Then, we learned the gate we chose was not allowed by the HOA. And, he came back and said the color was an up charge. We refused to pay, and his response was, "I'll have to pay this out of my own pocket." Well, too bad. I've experienced this type of trick before. Then, after all was installed, the installers did not return my property to it's original condition--rocks moved and not replaced, etc. I am happy with the final result but it was not a pleasant experience.

Poor communication, with failed attempts at multiple change orders. The CO attempts failed because I was persistent enough that they realized they were in the wrong and that their claims would never stand up in arbitration. Only use split rail if you document every move and are willing to fight with them the whole time.

The title says it all. We were still dealing with issues and problems from them a year after we had initially hired them. Do yourself a favor and hire ANY other fencing company

Seemed like our $7K project was not big enough to be concerned about. Horrible communication of when it would be completed, and changed several times because they showed up with the wrong product and the gate was not constructed in the right size. At times, never even called to let me know when they were coming, they just showed up. Never have gotten some of the post caps that I paid for -- they didn't have the right ones stocked and never followed up.

Split rail was awesome. We bought a house with a pool and have twin two year old babies and need a fence up ASAP - they were awesome and got the job done quickly and the fence is perfect.

The crew that did the work was very professional and did an excellent job. Other than a sprinkler head that was broken during the teardown, there were no issues. Scheduling however was a pain, with the office not knowing what the crews were up to. In then end, I actually had to take care to ensure my final inspections were done as they forgot to it.

Split Rail Fence Company, lead by Chris Stephens, did an excellent job on the fence build between my neighbors and myself.
He offered a competitive price and communicated with me when contractors were coming to the property. I evaluated the build with my neighbors and we all agreed that it was a job well done.
Thank you Chris!
