Rebecca and her editors and beta readers were invaluable to finishing my novel. I learned so much in the process. The communication was prompt, smooth and friendly. And the editing was spot on. I felt like I had support that I could trust and depend on. I’ll be back with the next book!

Rebecca Prokop and the folks at Spellbound Self Publishing helped me through the entire process of publishing my first book, Battle of Mesquite, and the process was great. From development editing, beta reading, copy editing, proofreading, cover art work, formatting for paper and electronic delivery, they did it all! The cost was right and the service prompt, accurate, and kind yet critical (important to a beginning author). I strongly endorse their service and plan on using them again!!

From the moment I began communicating with Becky I could instantly tell her level of professionalism and expertise by how easy and clear everything was.
My manuscript was complete from a story point of view but it was in need of editing when I first got into contact with Becky. She showed a real curiosity about my experience and we hit it off straight away, which was important to me because whereas editing grammar and tense is technical, to improve a story is subjective and the human element of the editor was crucial.
Becky laid out clearly her services without rushing me into any decision. There were several different treatments I could opt for depending on the issues, but she recommended an assessment first and I found this to be one of the most valuable points of the experience.
Her assessment included the weaknesses that could be improved (which is inevitable!) and the strengths that she enjoyed from the story (which you read proudly) - but where I found the real value was the way she articulated and set out the genres touched upon in the story, the main plots and subplots, the issues explored and how they fit into the overall story. These observations were devoid of positives or negatives, they were an appreciation of what the story represented and taught me, the author, things about my own story I had not fully acknowledged or realized. I cannot state enough the value of this, and for anyone looking to get an editor on board who will not only read and edit your work, but find the characters and scenes to love then look no further. A special touch is a collection of Becky's favorite lines that made her laugh from the story.
Obviously, issues were highlighted and Becky recommended a plan on how to fix them. A price was clearly stated, along with a deadline. This is where Becky's real work starts and where big decisions could be made.
Becky recommends but does not tell, she offers solutions but does not argue. Becky will explain the differences in each choice and even provide a sample if you're nice, and the back and forth with her was always prompt, helpful and open, but what I enjoyed most was that all the decisions were mine and Becky did not take over the manuscript. She gave the right amount of help while allowing me to control the direction of the manuscript.
There were a few big decisions and Becky helped me through them, and throughout it was clear to me her passion for the process and for literature. She loves her job, I felt she loved helping me make my manuscript the best it could be, and I cannot wait to work with her again in the future.

I’m always reluctant to engage with someone who I have never met and only ‘found’ through a Google search. As such, I always throw in a ‘can we have a chat first before proceeding’ curve ball to ensure I’m not about to sign a contract with someone from outer space. From the first ‘hello’ on our WhatsApp call, I knew Becky was ‘the one’. Not only did she ‘get’ my topic, she got me too. After smashing out an amazing editing job on my 65k manuscript, she also threw in a 20 pager assessment document AND a styling guide (can you say BONUS?) Her eagle-eye detail to the smallest quirks and quarks was amazing. I have now used Becky for my query letter as well as a my TED Fellow application. Bottom line: just hire her - you won’t regret it!

I’m so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Spellbound Content Services as the service was outstanding. Being my first book I needed an editor who was going to be understanding and patient with my lack of experience, yet direct enough so we could get the best product. The communication was clear and the final product was delivered on time (actually early) and on budget. I don’t think I would be as confident with my book if I hadn’t had such a great editor guiding me along the way.
