I don't think this is a scam site... but an Asia company is using it to convince people they have a wifi router problem, then trying to get money from them to fix the problem. But Speedtest.net need to prove their credentials, to help reassure people... and warn them about the Asian scammers using their site, and how it works.

It says I got a 35 mbps speed but I don’t have, many times internet is working very low but speednet.net says I have normal speed. This I checked from different devices. The website was recommended by Vodafone when I complained about the internet speed

Speedtest.net isn't the problem. The people who ring claiming to be from BT, use speedtest.net to get an idea of the speed you currently have, then they'll ask you to open another window on your browser, input some address and follow their instruction. That's where the real problem is. Don't type the address in. Hang up.

This is a scam website. Man with asian accent will tell you he is from the BT Technical Department and ask you to go onto it and tell you your internet speed is too low. Then ask you to press consent at which stage the site you are on will steal all of your information. I didn't do this this time as I got caught about 5 years with a similar scam who sillily I allowed to take control on my pc and it never worked the same again. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Okay people! When you get a website/app recommended by a broadband company what do you think you are testing?
I have been having loads of issues with my provider and today I am having very little limited service and as I come to speedtest it tells me I am getting over 100mbps.. how can it be that my provider is not giving me the internet speed I am paying for? But it still reads as overly great in the website/app.
To all of you complaining saying that the negative reviews are BS please just be grateful you have good internet and to those who think they can rely on website/apps like this please don’t.. I am here writing this review so you know that what has happen to other people is also happening to me! This is a scam hence the low rating..

this is not a scam site, it has nothing to do with anything other than testing your internet speed, if you people are that gullible you shouldn't be using the internet.

Just had someone claiming to be from BT wanting me to use it. Got as far as the website but didn't click or use - just hope that hasn't done anything. They rang off when I asked them to prove they were BT and what was my name.

Absolute scammers. claimed to be from BT. asked me to go to this website and run a speedtest. Went along with it, but ran the speedtest through google. I advised them I have 48 mbps upload and 98 mbps download speed, and I was being told that was a fast internet connection. The supervisor came on the phone and said that my internet was TOO FAST and this would be dangerous for smaller devices such as mobiles as it would overload their circuits. Ha ha ha ha, never heard such drivel in all my life.

speedtest.net will not detected simple download or upload problems and so it is a pretty fake and inaccurate tool and it's been that way for a loooong time now. It will be accurate only if you have no problems with your ISP.

I received a call on my landline asking about my internet speed, claiming to be from BT Broadbrand. They were very insistent on me needing a "computer". It was a man with an Indian Asian type accent!! He asked me to go on the website and consent. Something told me to check reviews first as the man on the phone seemed unprofessional and suspicious. Upon checking I alerted him to the fact that there were negative reviews of this website. He immediately said "hang up and I will call you back on another line, which didn't make any sense. Needless to say he didn't call back and realised that I was on to him! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Do not press "I consent"!!

Je reviens régulièrement sur le site pour tester la vitesse de la connexion Internet. Il me permet d’avoir des résultats précis, et ce, dans les brefs délais.

I compared the web page tester against the Windows 10 app rating both out of 10.
Web page tester:9 (Acceptable: No way to report issues)
Windows 10 app:1 (Terrible: Very Inconsistent test results, no Help About and no way to report issues)
Clicking GO several times in the Windows 10 App provides a high variation in results (download: 10-138mbs, upload: 14-18mbs). The web page tester provides expected results (download: 100-150mbs, upload 11-13mbs).
I suspect the implementation of the Windows 10 app was assigned to someone who knows about implementing apps on Windows 10 but less about handling network events and measuring throughput.
I rate the Windows 10 app as extremely poor -- app needs testing before distributing. To be a network distributed application it must have Help About with software version and provider and any legal notices, especially if there are privacy considerations.
I have uninstalled the Windows 10 app for fear of privacy violations.

The only real speedtest is googles version because it gives me close to exact information. speedtest.net said i had 20 ping but when i went to play a game it was in actuality 3000ms and unplayable. The fake website said i was getting 300kp per sec download but when i went to check on one of my downloads i was only getting around 20kbps. Please don't trick yourself into thinking that your internet is good and don't use this website. Ps my wifi sucks
