Stood up for 40 minutes in the corridor of a carriage once again from London to Gillingham Dorset. All this for £45!! What a bargin! At least the Deli-express was on time! Just need to strap myself to the roof at the next station so I can sit down. Come back from abroad today and you realise just how awful the trains are in the UK!!! Especially Southwest!

Unacceptably awful train line. Every week there's a delay of some sort due to faulty trains or signals. Some weeks 2 to 3 times! Staff are good enough and try their best but most of the time they're not told what's happening.
Beyond belief how bad this service is

Every time I turn up at Ascot or Sunningdale trains are delayed.
This service is the never good.
Government need to sort this mess out.

Would give zero of possible. The poor delivery of services is literally life changing for some people. Missing meetings and opportunities being late for work and getting home after 1930 and missing family time after work. And this is the reality of some people everyday....

My first two train journeys in 30 years were on SW. Yesterday being the second one. The first journey from London to Cornwall on 1st Class had no WiFi, no food & was an hour late. Yesterday in 1st Class the WiFi took the 2 hour journey to download 4 emails. No food, no water, no anything. It was on time though.

Great service, buy a ticket to Wimbledon. Train runs later and later, then they tell you its no longer stopping at Wimbledon after all. Probably the worst rail service in the world...

Let some other franchise do much better. They could not do worse!!!!!
Every excuse under the sun for poor to dismal performance.
No wonder they have NOW lost the franchise!!!!

There are few nasty experiences I have to go thru recently:
* First of all if you loose you ticket or smart card you are charged £10.
* There is no way to upload your season ticket in Waterloo in case you forgot to do it on your station.
* There is no way the customer support can amend or cancel your season ticket even if it has not been uploaded to the smart card.
* The season ticket can be uploaded to the smart card only few hours before the trip, so in case you commute early you need to get to the station well in advance.
* You can't top up your smart card from the ticket counter either.

Booked Salisbury/Edinburgh via Euston/Glasgow Sleeper 19/2/16 return 21/2/16 through 'Trainline'. Because the return sleeper 21/2/16 arrived 22/1/16 my wife & I were told the ticket return from Waterloo to Salisbury was invalid, and had to re-book at an extra £80 !
On 25/2/16 after many emails 'Trainline' emailed that South West Trains had agreed to refund us, and to send them an email with the evidence which I did 26/2/16.
Given they had already 'agreed' to refund us this morning I emailed a reminder to them at 10hrs. Since South West Trains haven't even the courtesy to reply I called Rav at Trainline to be told by Neil at Trainline in Indiathat he is in their Edinburgh office but they don't know their telephone number !!!
Avoid both of them if you can.

I made a complaint to South West Trains following a shocking journey from London to Bournemouth which resulted in having to get picked up from Southampton and the overall journey time of over 4 hours. I originally made the complaint on June 22nd and after 22 days of waiting for a response (T&Cs say 10 days), I was asked for an image of the tickets to be sent to them. Fortunately, I kept the ticket and sent through the picture. It's been another couple of weeks since I sent this through the image and no response again.

I travel on a travelcard for £424 a month, so pay around £5,000 per year.
Trains are regularly late.
Trains are regularly cancelled.
Staff are regularly rude.
Whilst, they do offer discount on my railcard occasionally when I renew, if service has been especially bad. It is not enough to make up for the sub par service throughout the month.
As there are no other competitors, I have to travel with South West Trains, but certainly would not through choice.
