This catalog has definitely changed in the past few years. I used to order regularly from SS. But the clothing looks much cheaper now. And the catalog copy drives me nuts. No info about fabric, weight, details, cut, etc. Are those buttons plastic or metal? What length is that top? It almost feels like they want to go out of business. There's an art to putting out a good, informative clothing catalog, and SS doesn't have it.

Ugh, I'm done with buying anything from Soft Surroundings. I've always thought their clothes were overpriced for the quality, and it really bugs me that they charge so much for shipping. I ordered a dress from their catalog recently, it took forever to arrive because they were having supply chain problems (I understand that, because of the pandemic) but when it came, it looked nothing like the picture in the catalog. The catalog version had vibrant colors and was obviously cinched in the back to make it look more fitted on the model. When the dress arrived, the colors were drab and it hung straight down with absolutely no form at all. It was truly ugly, and in the catalog it was beautiful. So knowing full well that they would charge me shipping to mail it back, I drove almost an hour to the nearest store to return it. I just now saw my email from them stating they received my return and they DEDUCTED $10 for an IN STORE return! What the heck?! So beware, YOU are going to be charged on both ends when you buy something from this store and heaven forbid you don't like it when you get it. Oh, by the way, even if you place an order from the store (I wear petites, they don't stock them in their stores) and have it sent to your home, they still charge you for shipping. Neither Talbots nor Macy's does that. Never again will I purchase from Soft Surroundings. I've bought a number of things from them over the years and its often annoyed me that they never have sales. I've seen the very same item appear in their catalog several years in a row, I don't know if it didn't sell well or not, but it is always listed at the very same price over and over. They never lower their price on an item that didn't sell well, they just keep putting it in the next year's catalog at the same price, until I guess, they finally get rid of it. I'm done buying from them, I just hate greed.

I placed an order with Soft Surroundings and everything I ordered came in. One shirt actually was true to size, but the other 4 are too small. The size guide is incorrect. Size large should be a 10/12 not a 14/16. I can't return the 4 items because I bought them under the final sale.

I ordered a robe on June 6th, it is now July 27th, still haven't received it. It never said out of stock or on back order. It was finally shipped Lon July 19th and the tracking number is useless. When I called FedEx they said it was and has been in Hutchinson Tx for the last 5 days. They said for me to call Soft Surrounding and ask them to file a claim. I did and they told me they can't file claims til 10 days after shipping.
I would have never ordered it had I known it would take over a month + to receive it. This is the last time I will ever order any from them. Horrible customer service.

While the staff at the Naperville, IL store are very helpful, the website and customer service are terrible. I ordered a dress last year and the delivery date was pushed out 3 times. I cancelled the order since it was a Summer dress and wouldn't arrive until late Fall. I also returned a few items because they were not at all like they appeared on line or in the catalog - cheaply made. I sent all the returns back in separate packages weeks ago and so far only one item has been credited back. Although the website states packages will arrive via FedEx, they are actually routed to the US Post Office, which takes much longer than originally stated on the website. I may buy from the store direct in the future, but will definitely NOT purchase through the website/catalog.

I'd always liked the look of Soft Surroundings merchandise but the item I ordered looked nothing like what was shown online. I'm not sure if it was the wrong item or not, but it didn't work for me and I sent it back, requesting a refund. It took them over a month to acknowledge my return and send me an email that they would start the credit process. They then deducted $14 from the refund for return shipping costs. Astonishing. Nothing about this experience was remotely positive and I won't order from them again.

Two weeks ago I ordered a bamboo quilt and matching pillow cases. Over $400. Still don't have it. It seems to be flying all over the midwest via FedEx. Stuck (more likely lost) in West Virginia at the FedEx hub. Customer service was zero help. In fact she just said have a nice day and hung up. They must get a lot of complaints.

I ordered an item on 5/28/21 and I have yet to recieve the item I am being told that I was told that my item would be delivered on 6/4/21 every since I have been told to check on FedEx's tracking website when keeps changing the delivery date,now when I check the website its says my delivery date it is saying the date is pending.i will never buy anything from them ever again they are the worst store I have dealt with in a very long time,never again!!!!

I wish I had read the reviews BEFORE I ordered. Lovely clothing if you ever receive it. I wanted a dress for a wedding, but the couple is back from their honeymoon and no dress or other tops I ordered have arrived. Don't know why they waste money sending out their catalogue if they do not have the merchandise. I will not order again.

Something has changed there in the last 5 years. For the second time this year, I ordered an item online and found out AFTER that they really don't have the item. They might have it in a month but I went through this before and an order was delayed 4 months until I cancelled. I think they place orders with their vendors AFTER they get a sufficient number of orders. Will never deal with them again.
For what they charge PLUS shipping, I can shop elsewhere.

After visiting new store to see/touch items. Discovered their greatly reduced prices online. Very happy with every single item from novelty sweatshirt to dressy top w/flounce to simple ribbed summer top and leggings. Love that XL items are fully cut to avoid 1X and that most tops are 27-28" to cover bottom. Have received compliments when wearing. No need for returns so cannot comment. Now
My friends plan to start purchasing from Soft Surroundings, especially when $79-89 tops are on sale for $39-49! Just retired so now can buy the fun casual items that don't need to be suitable for office. Especially loved the tiered bottom straight leg pants & the lavender sweatshirt w/lace trim for less than $30.

I ordered two items in November. I received one, the other was back ordered and said to be shipping in January. The item arrived in March, well past the intended fall/winter season. I requested a refund and waived return fees. The rep obliged. When I received my refund, it was short by approximately $25. I called, thinking it was an error. Nope. The explanation: the charge for the item shipped in November was not the full price, even though it was the amount stated on the order. Who does business like this and retroactively changes a price? Isn't that illegal?

What a disaster! Saw beautiful clothing come across my Insta-feed - foolishly clicked through to the website and DIDN'T do my research on this company before ordering. The clothing eventually arrived not as described or shown in photos - overpriced shipping (who even charges shipping anymore?) AND I needed to pay for my return. Stay away!

I am SO sick and tired of receiving their catalog, falling in love with something and not being able to receive it for MONTHS. Ordered a simple white T on 1/5 and was told it would ship on 1/26. NOW they are telling me it will be 3/21 before it ships. Obviously they are taking orders and THEN manufacturing. This has happened to me more than once, and BEFORE the pandemic, so can't blame that. Previous orders meant for vacation didn't make it either. VERY FRUSTRATED! PS. Love their stores.

I ordered a robe from Soft Surroundings for my mother on Dec 5. I was assured the robe was in stock and would be delivered to a store near her home in California. Before Christmas. Since she is elderly, I planned to pick up the robe at the store and bring it to her home on Christmas Day during my brief, 3 day trip to CA. Now I have received an email saying the robe is not in stock and will not be delivered until after Christmas (and I will no longer be in town to pick it up and bring it to her). The whole surprise is ruined and I will not have a gift for my elderly mother on what could be my last Christmas with her. I will never buy from this store again and BUYER BEWARE. When I contacted the store about this they could only make excuses and say they were "sorry" but made no effort to make it right, and did not offer any kind of refund, discount or expedited shipping. Just said it was not in stock and I was out of luck. NEVER AGAIN.

I bought an already seriously over priced pair of jeans from this company. They didn't fit and so I wanted to exchange them for another pair that was exactly the same price. You can only exchange (from the catalog) for the exact same item but a different size or color. Add to that you have to go the post office and pay return postage and the company also charges you a $7.95 return fee. I will NEVER order from this company again. Total rip off.

I have found the clothing to be very comfortable and of durable fabric and very good quality. Pants have a nice thick fabric for winter----sometimes a little too heavy for some summer items. I really enjoy that they can make pull up pants that fit snug to the body and even have tummy panels, without looking totally "Mom-Pants" with the baggy, puckering gathered look at the waist. And there's a wide variety. Sizes aren't consistent, nor is the length, which makes it very difficult to order through the catalogue. I ordered ankle pants through the catalogue that I loved in the store. They were of a dressier fabric----and again nice and thick. They hit right at the ankle and looked just a tad short for my taste so I tried the tall. The style was offered in a thinner fabric and a heavier thick fabric. I decided to get size tall in each. The thicker fabric was at least 1 inch longer than the other. One inch too long. I don't have wide hips but as I've gotten older, my breast size has increased, so I have to be careful about the cut. Many tops flare at the bottom to accommodate a more hippy woman but with my breasts make me look like a tank. Sometimes the straight cut is good for the hips but pulls at the breasts. Again, this isn't consistent so ALL items need to be tried on. I do love the variety and a little more stylish options to choose from. I have found some fashions that are fun and more in line with current trends that I really enjoy.
The 3-star given is for catalogue orders. It really should be only 2 stars----if that. I'm getting weary of EVERY single thing I order that (in the store) I'm told should only take "a week or so" ends up being delayed. Then I get more e-mails saying the delay time is delayed. I have a dress I ordered last July that was delayed until Sept. Now it's delayed until Nov 3. Another notice that one out of 4 pants ordered (all delayed once already) will be delayed further. They were all the same pant but different colors. They're all arriving at different times. I love the pants so I don't want to cancel. They're a relaxed fit but straight and have a very slimming flattering fit without being skin tight. After today's latest delay notice, I'm feeling really frustrated. I've never had to return an item. It a catalogue order doesn't fit I just return it to the store. I don't ever remember getting anything that wasn't delayed at least once on line. But I spend a ton of money there and will continue to do so as long as the variety and quality hold up. But I would recommend finding a store vs. the catalogue----both for fit and service. It'll save a lot of frustration.
The pants all finally arrived; all the same size in different colors. One is so tight at the waist I have to wiggle and squeeze to get them up. They feel snug even after sitting in them for a while. Another one is tight getting on but a little better----and a little longer. The other two are actually roomy in the waist with one slipping on very, very easily. One is longer than the other. I don't know if this is sewn in a foreign country or what, but obviously there isn't consistency or quality control when it comes to sizing.

I have made several purchases from Soft Surroundings throughout the years and I always wait until there is a sale or I shop the outlet. The prices are too high on most items and the quality does not match asking price. Plus there are no free shipping bonuses no matter how much money is spent.

I have been purchasing from Soft Surroundings for over 5 years, mostly because I like their styles. Unfortunately, I have had to return more than I keep because of poor quality. Usually the return process is easy, but if you have a quality issue after you've worn and cleaned the item, you will get rude customer service and no refund. You will be blamed for the fact that the item came apart at the seams or shrunk beyond reason. Most of the clothes I have kept have not held up. Elastic on the skirts stretches and twists, hemlines roll, blouses shred, sweaters (even with the best sweater care) ball up, shrink, and don't hold their shape. I used to be a seamstress, so I know about fabric care and how to block clean and block a sweater. Purchasing from Soft Surroundings is like throwing your money away. It also looks like most of their clothes are made in China, which explains the poor quality. What a rip off.

I purchased some clothes at full price. I received a promo code after I made the purchase and requested that the promo code could be applied to the merchandise. The customer service supervisor named Brook refused to apply the promotion code. She was rude and very unprofessional. I am returning one of the items. It's just a t-shirt way over priced. Be careful when purchasing items from soft surroundings some of the clothing was not good quality considering their high prices.

This company is AWFUL! In a time of a global pandemic when most companies make shopping easier for their customers this company makes them more difficult. Most companies offer free shipping to your home. This one doesn't no matter how much you are purchasing. They ship it to a store where you have to pick it up. They use fed ex which means it will take a very long time. So you go to the store which the website says it offers curbside pick up. You call them and they tell you that they don't offer curbside. After you point out their website they reluctantly agree to do it but they make you wait in your car for like an hour before they bring it out. If some of the things don't fit and you have to return them then you go through all of this again. They return the items but don't give you a receipt for them because they say that their printer doesn't work. When you insist that you must have a receipt proving that the return was made and ask them to simply copy all the information down from the computer onto a piece of paper the assistant manager refuses saying that it is too much trouble! This company has the WORST customer service I have ever seen. I will never buy from them again and am very sorry for spending so much money with them. They deserve to go out of business because they are so bad! I hope that they do!
