Awful - misleading description online of their Buzz Lightyear doll.
They advertise this £40 Buzz Lightyear doll as "deluxe". Well there's nothing deluxe about it - IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE BUZZ'S REAL VOICE!!
Other KEY features of a Buzz Lightyear doll are missing (Andy/Bonnie's name on the foot, a working laser, lights on his wings, karate chop action, properly moving limbs etc)
I complained to them that their description is misleading and I'd like to return the toy. They have refused to accept the return even though they're in the wrong. Currently filling a small claim against them in court.

My daughter bought a glider nursing chair for £179.99, or thereabouts. Had it for 15 months and noticed it working loose. At 16 months the whole thing fell apart. All the spindles came out of the back and the arms and one arm collapsed completely. A phone call to HO Customer Services suggested that they were very concerned that a chair of that price became unusable so quickly and that they would contact the shop we purchased it from to let them know we would be returning it for a goodwill refund. Arriving at the shop later the same day no such message had been received. We had to "encourage" them to make a phone to HO to get the ok. Some time later a manager finally turned up and was categoric that no such promise had be made to us and that no refund would be given as it was outside the warranty period. We relaid the conversation that we had had with HO but there was no sign whatsoever of them budging. No apology for our situation or the poor quality of the product. Just a very objectionable body pose and sneering look. We did manage to get an email for the manufacturing company, David Lowe & Co but that turned out to be wrong. My daughter did find their email but has no resolution as yet.We live in hope!!

Brilliant experience, twice, from Kirsty, Jamie and Jenny and not forgetting the lovely checkout boys.
Twice I have been into Smyths in Wolverhampton, I have 6 grandchildren 2 with birthdays before Christmas and my daughter who has 4 of my grandchildren. The list , both times was a long as your arm and Kirsty and Jamie pitched in and I sailed through my lists with their help. What a pleasure it was to shop where staff were more than happy to help, in fact on 2nd visit Jamie saw me and saw you yet another list, let's get cracking. It was pure joy. Thank you to each and everyone of you who helped me, including the man on bikes who offered to put it together for me. Really good offer available and I took full advantage. What a result

Be aware that if you exchange an item (for one of the exact price and from the exact same range) purchased during a promotion, then you are requested to repay the discount that you originally received on the item making the exchange full price. I recently duplicated a purchase with another family member during a 20% off promotion but when I returned two days later to swap the item for a different one I was made to pay the difference as the promotion had now ended. This was despite a store member saying they would swap it "no bother". Good customer service? I don't think so!

I ordered a wendy house for my Son's 1st birthday from Smyths website, it was originally sent with two parts duplicated and two missing, it did take them 3 further deliveries before they got the correct missing parts to me - as twice they sent the duplicate parts again and the other time they sent me parts for a completely different item?!
The customer service was quick and reasonably helpful and I received a £10 giftcard in return, but I did expect a lot better organisation skills in such an established company. Tbh it was a stress that I could have done without and my son did have to wait for his toy. I was going to give this 3* rating but it annoyed me that it wouldn't let me leave a less than perfect review so there!

Fantastic customer service by Hannah, she dealt with my issue quickly and got it resolved. My issue was not with Smyths, it was the delivery service Hermes. Thanks to Hannah it was all sorted out.

Have used smyths many times & as always they are despatched quickly & delivered on time. Only problem I have had is when trying to pre order it only let's you do one per order & you can't put a pre order with an order which is in stock, therefore for less expensive items it would be expensive paying numerous delivery charges so have ordered these things elsewhere.

I sent an email to ask if they would accept a gift voucher from Lego got a reply to say I would get a reply in 48hours then I go another email asking to send my receipt to returns I don’t want to return anything just ask a question the customer service must be great don’t anybody read the properly I give 1 Star but is would not.

Exchange policy is a joke.
I bought 3 items during the last promotion which should have totalled 135e but when 20e discount was applied to the 100e = 80e + 35 for an extra item meaning my total spend was 115e. However , I had to exchange one item 35 e I paid in full as it's not included in the discount , the store on ly refunded me 29e taking a discount off when I never received any . Long story short here be wise people to this misleading Information by Smyth's absolute disgrace , I'll be following this up with consumer rights .

I had brought the Babylo Explorer Compact stroller from Smyth Toy Store on 23 August 2019 from Staples Corner Wembley.When I brought the stroller I had taken my daughter with me who is nearly 3 and is quite healthy looking. I went into the store and requested assistance from the shop assistance for buying a stroller which was light in weight to enable me to carry the stroller up and down the stairs and enable me to use it on holiday. I had explained all this to the assistant and she then showed me a range of strollers and in the end I had opted for a stroller which she confirmed was the most common one people were buying when travelling as it is so light. The shop assistant helped me strap my daughter in the stroller and tested it in the store. I had brought the stroller after receiving good feedback from the assistant about the stroller. It wasn't until two/three weeks later I notice on their website that there is a weight limit of 15kg for the stroller I had purchased. My daughter clearly exceeds this weight. The assistant at no time notified me of the weight limit for the stroller. I have since made several formal complaints to the store in writing and the store kept confirming the weight limit for the stroller was stated on a label somewhere in the store and will not refund me any money for the stroller. I said this product is not fit for my purpose and I had brought the stroller after the assistant had recommended this particular brand to me. At no point was the weight limit mentioned to me. I did not feel the need to carry out further research before purchasing the item as I felt a professional working at the store gave me adequate information to enable me to make an informed decision. The store manager continued to refuse the refund for the stroller and the rain cover. I still have not receive any explanation as to why the refund was not given. I went on to confirm that adequate training needs to be given to the shop assistants helping parents/ carers when buying nursery items to ensure it is safe for them to use after purchase. I went on to explain that had I continued to use the stroller with my toddler present the stroller could have clasped with her in it and caused her major injuries. This comment did not worry the store manager Ravi Ahmed. I believe Smyth Toy Stores have an extra duty of care towards consumers buying items for babies/toddlers and in this case they were in breach of their duty to ensure items are safe for use. I will not be purchasing any other items from this store.

Smyth's online service is outstanding! I ordered a toy for my Grandson and everything went well until it went to the Hermes courier, who was standing in for our regular courier, who never delivered our parcel, even though my wife received a text message from Hermes saying it had been delivered and had been signed for.
I called Smyth's customer service and they couldn't have been more helpful, immediately sending another parcel with DPD and apologized profoundly for Hermes inability to do their job.
I would say to the lady who made the previous comment that you're negative comments should be aimed at the shambles of a company Hermes and not at the excellent customer service given by Smyth's Toys.

Gave a refund it was a faulty toy, he was rude, very rude and appeared quite thick as I was trying to explain to him, it just seemed he had a blockage and he did not want to listen and acknowledge at all the faulty toy
I wanted my money back my son was fed up I told him several times I don’t want it fixed as it faulty
He argued with me and said the toy works now I told him I don’t want to come back for a third time as the toy clearly has a fault that will come back again
I Went home tried to charge the toy again and not working due to the the pins in the charging port not being Right, which they knew about
I was so angry, my child was so upset they have robbed my nine year child of his birthday money
I contacted customer service who replayed next day and said, they can’t over rule the store manager decision
This disgusting store manager, Martian totally charged his story to save his back from the customer service team, knowing he was in the wrong

Absolutely disgusting customer service would leave no stars if I could! Brought a travel system for my little girl only been using it for 4 & a half months and it keeps folding down when you push it took it back to store where they turned around and said there was nothing wrong with it!

Do not use these on any level. I have had 2 deliveries go missing and they have apparently investigated and have deemed it's been delivered! I'm now £60 out of pocket and have no items! Customer service is a joke. Seriously go elsewhere for toys

Like others, had to give 1 star as it doesn't allow you to continue without it. This is the first time I have written a review on a place, but I am so angry and feel like I've let down my son, I had to vent.
I have purchased items from SMYTHS in the past, some good buys some bad buys. However, on this occasion, it was a very very bad buy. My son who is only 5 wanted to spend his birthday money on a NINTENDO SWITCH, thankfully he's a saver and combined his Christmas and birthday money together! So over £300 later, yes, £300 quid, my son was pleased with his new purchase. After a week, the console was showing no game loaded, when in fact there was. The games, when it did load, were freezing. The unit itself did not load any 2 player games. I returned to the store a couple of days later with the console. I was told I wasn't loading it right, I wasn't connecting the games properly etc etc. As they put it on the screen in the store, they found no fault. I took their advice, retuned home. The console seemed to work for a few more weeks. Surprise surprise, it all repeated, the games wouldn't load, it kept freezing and the 2 player mode wouldn't connect. I went back to the store again. I stupidly thought that as I purchased this item from them, I have been back and forth 3 times since that they would be able to help and offer a replacement product as clearly this one was faulty. How wrong could I be. Basically, in a nutshell, I was called a liar and that they could not confirm with anyone that I had been at store EVER! I gave a description of the staff I dealt with before AND names, but still, no, they didn't believe I had been in 3 times with the same problem. I wasn't allowed a replacement, I wasn't even asking for a refund. I was told that NINTENDO have put in place a new policy stating "ANY RETURNED GOODS HAVE TO GO BACK TO NINTENDO TO BE REPAIRED" however... this is clearly not true. I have spoken to NINTENDO direct and they have categorically denied that statement and have sent written confirmation advising that. NINTENDO states that it is the SMYTHS policy obviously. BUT... my gripe is that this new policy was only bought in by SMYTHS on Sep 1st 2019, I purchased this item BEFORE that came in, and I also visited the store 3 times BEFORE that policy came into effect!!! STILL, no help offered by SMYTHS whatsoever. I was told that they wasn't anything they were willing to do other than send it off for repair. I was clearly annoying the manager by repeating myself but I felt he wasn't listening to me and kept relinquishing all responsibility on SMYTHS behalf and putting the blame on NINTENDOS policy.
Please excuse the essay, but my advice to you is that don't buy anything electrical, any game consoles or ANYTHING from SMYTHS. Three times I returned to the store, I shouldn't have been such a push over, I was completely fobbed off. They have lied and said NINTENDO have bought in this policy and its nothing to do with SMYTHS. A clear lie to the customer.
They DO not help you, they FOB you off, they are totally not interested in ANYTHING you have to say, they look at you like you've come from another planet, and that your a liar, AND... that you are clearly wasting their valuable time!
I certainly will not be buying anything from the store again. With a business dealing in children's parties, entertainment etc, myself and my family were in there sometimes 2-3 times a week spending hundreds. I will now happily take my business elsewhere.
Thank you SMYTHS for showing the nation what a rubbish AFTER service you provide. The figures on here show that.

Horrible customer service full of lies, says it’s getting delivered but no one came the next day made an excuse it’s only arrived yet on the dpd site it states it was on the van the gave us 4 delivery times and still didn’t deliver the bouncy it broke a little boys heart and yet to this day we still haven’t got but the give us £3.99 to say sorry after we paid over £100 and still haven’t got the goods

I went to the Cheltenham store on the 20th of September to purchase a Nintendo switch for myself. I queued behind a couple of people at the video game til section. After they were served, the staff member disappeared so I waited, and then a miserable overweight scruffy store manager approaches me from my side of the til and says hi and just looks at me like I'm an inconvenience, so I stare back. And having extensive customer service experience I would of said hi how can I help you? But no this guy just says hi and looks at me. So I said I'd like to buy a nintendo switch please. But what I'm annoyed about most is that I spent a good while in store looking in the video games section and saw no promotions whatsoever about buy a console and get a selected game for £20. After looking on the website the same evening for other things I see the offer. Had I known this in store I would of taken it up when getting my switch. Avoid this store. Miserable staff and poor management.

My nephew got a push bike for his birthday at end of march, hes used it say five times due to being at school , illness and been on holiday, anyway the bike pedal have broken off, the seat keeps coming loose and dropping down, mud guards keep coming loose and to top it off handle bars fell off. The bike was assembled by the so called trained staff at smyths, tried to take the bike back and the staff are just pure muppets. apparently it's down to wear and tear. What after not even 5 months, the tyres on the bike are still brand new, the staff said it's been hammered, not even a mark on the bike the point blank refused to exchange the faulty item, the staff said to me this is how you tighten the bolt up. What a muppet. Just poor quality. I have pictures of the bike shame I cant upload them to this site.

Absalutely disgracefull. Went in with friends to look at video games. Was all going well went to look at the cars for youngens and without warning a security guard escorted us out. He gave no reason why when we asked politely. He just kept saying extremely rudely "right you lot OUT!" With a very intimidating, aggressive body language refused to comply by giving us his name and staff code. The only way to discribe him is tall,bald, not but near obese and that is the politest way possible to describe him at the Ventura shopping centres Smyth's toys superstore. He could have possibly mixed us up with other people but from what I can tell he was very steriotypicall. I would not recomend in the slightest and am right now feeling almost violated.
