This review is not for a specific agent, It is for the whole company. I had a flight with the Austrian airline from the US to Tehran-Iran for Jan 9th and I bought the insurance for this flight. Because of the situation that everybody knows happened in Iran during that week, I wanted to know what is the best option for me. I preferred to cancel my flight since no one knows what will happen later, but each time I called agents told me something different. They told me if I cancel the flight all the money I paid will be gone except the tax. So the only option left for me was postponing my flight and they told me my insurance just cover one-time change with paying the difference in flight rate. So, I paid the difference and postponed it. On the day of my flight, Lufthansa and Austrian airline announced all their flights to Iran were canceled. I guess the least the agency could do to help us in this situation was letting us keep that one-time change instead of using it for a flight that was already canceled. All this process that I explained took me 5-6 hours and except one agent who helped me to postpone my flight, all other agents have been so rude and pushy to just force me to change my flight and pay a lot of money without caring about the though situation I had that day. Some of them just dropped the phone on me and shouting about why you called twice before! All that being said I will never ever buy any tickets from this company and will also tell my friends do not do that. I already paid a lot of money on the flight that was itself canceled and in case the situation doesn't change in Iran and I cannot go on this flight, all my money will be gone!

Here is my recent experience. I bought ticket where marks as 690CAnadian dollar on Jan 4. It ends up charge me 754 something. I called customer service who inform the charge me 690 but my credit card bank charge me the additional. I never receive confirmation email. After I called 3 times in 27 hours finally someone confirmed that ticket is done and email me the e ticket. I am glad that the ticket is true at least. Not recommended

I booked 2 tickets, with the total amount being in canadian dollars, few days later, I check my statement to discover they had charged me in US dollars, and based on the conversion rate it was much higher than the amount I initially saw and paid for online. This is truly unethical , and they do not know what customer service entails. I got in touch with a supervisor somewhere most likely in Indian, who was extremely rude and obnoxious , that offered me a $20 voucher for the next flight I book with Smart Fares. lol What a joke of a company! DONT BE FOOLED, DONT GET RIPPED OFF LIKE I DID.

I was skeptical at first. You have to call them and if you have issues have them walk you through don't let them hang up. I booked with them for spirit airlines they give you a confirmation code, type your last name in with the confirmation code and it will come up through the airlines website. Boarding pass comes in the day of check in. Be patient.

SCAM. They tried to charge $ 200 arguing that I made a mistake in my name during the booking. As it turned out there was no error. Their support service was rude (the assistant's name was Myra, although I'm not sure that it is her real name), I spent a lot of time (1.5 hours) and nerves proving my point (fortunately, I found a confirmation email from SmartFares with my correct name, which I entered correctly when booking). In addition, they are deceiving with the tariff, because in fact, they charged me about 20% more than was stated on their website during the booking.

This company does not give full refunds for reservation cancellations. They charge taxes on flights per person for tickets that weren't ever issued! Do not purchase from them!

My husband needed to change the flight due to coronavirus outbreak threat. We called them and they told us they won't change as it's their rule. Hello~~~ they don't even try. We told them they won't accept change even in this chaotic situation? They say NO and told us to call the airline. Then the airline (Hawaiian airlines) told us to call the travel agent. Basically they just keep their hands off each other. OMG, what a joker. We called Smartfares 2nd time and this time the agent was trying to help a bit. But he needed to call Hawaiian air. He said, " you need to pay $570 to change the flight'. Are you kidding me? We will just buy a new ticket then. We will never book through Smartfares.

I call the company after I was trying to use two different credit cards to pay for my plane ticket and I was told to go to this store and buy three different Macey gift cards at 200.00 a piece and give them the number off the back along with the recipient and they would use them as money for my flight, and then I was told there system wouldn't take it and they sent me a text saying they refunded my money back from my gift credit card to my credit card but the cards are saying non refundable 600

SCAM - Stay far away from SMARTFARES. They advertise highly discounted fares and once you have booked they say the flight prices have changed and charge you much higher pricing than what you already paid.
Only after I made the booking and paid did I search the internet to find many other people telling the same scam story.
This is a SCAM and false advertising. I believe some people have lost all their money STAY AWAY!!!!

All of these reviews had me thinking my ticket was fake and that when i landed to LAX i would have to buy new tickets to Indonesia. My tickets were 100% fine and legit.
