I needed to strip a bedroom that had been covered in wood chip and painted over a number of times. I wasn't looking forward to this task at all having previously had bad experiences trying to strip wood chip with just a steamer. I searched the web to find a solution that was quick and easy but also inexpensive. I came across simple strip and after reading many reviews decided to give it a go. I had to strip the room very quickly as I had booked in plasterers. I ordered and paid on-line for the Simple Strip professional, as I wanted the whole kit including enough to do other rooms. I wasn't disappointed! It arrived quite quickly and I got to work. After reading the reviews I realised the importance of scoring the wall well before papering. I found the enclosed scorer wasn't robust enough for wood chip and used a heavy duty one that I had previously purchased. I scored one wall and then set about using Simple strip. At first I found it difficult to get the material to stay on the wall but quickly realised that I was wringing it out too much before hanging. The uneven surface of wood chip also made it difficult for the fabric sheets to find suction on the surface. Once one sheet was up I used the sprayer to soak the sheet even more before I put the next sheet up. It didn't take long before I got the hang of it. One wall done I set about scoring another wall while the one I treated was working its magic. Meanwhile my plasterers were in the other room being very skeptical about the product and 'waiting to see for themselves' if it saved any time. I left the treated wall for an hour, re-spaying it with solution periodically. I did the same on another wall while waiting then decided to try to see if it had worked. Hallelujah! ...the wood chip came off like butter!!! Called the plasterers in to have a look and even they were impressed! As I got the hang of applying the sheets the job got easier. I also roped in my husband to hand me the soaked sheets while I was up the ladder...this means that you can hang from the top of the wall without fear of falling off a ladder or ripping the material. The only negative I can think of would be that I needed to use a lot more solution than was recommended but this didn't really matter because I still had lots of concentrated solution left. I would not hesitate to recommend this product. If you follow the instructions properly and have a little bit of patience you will reap the rewards. Excellent product, excellent price and excellent customer service!
