The worst company ever. I was trying to send money for my mother in law from UK to Tunisia and they lock my account without any reason. I phone them and they say i got life time ban and they advice me to use other company to send money abroad. Absolutely disgusting customer service. Avoid them at any time no point to waste time and health to that company.

MoneyGram has been the least trustworthy and people friendly company to transfer money. They have not made my experience and transferring money a pleasant one. Their customer service needs improvement. When I send money internationally to my family, I never know exactly how much my family will receive. This is because MoneyGram is allowing their employees to steal money from my family internationally in Africa. There does not appear to be checks and balances for this not to happen, and for that reason I would never use this company to transfer money to my family again.

The company name should actually be MoneyGRAB as that is its modi operandi (m.o.). They completed a number of smaller transactions before nailing me on the largest. Flagging funds for a school I have been supporting in Kampala, Uganda for years. I spoke with their rep via the phone and was told all was well and the transaction was approved to continue. 30 minutes later (after the funds are tapped in my account) I received the cancellation email. My calls to their 800 number went unanswered and unreturned. I was finally told, via live chat, that I take my business elsewhere. I am yet waiting for the money to be returned. Nor was I provided with any response to my queries as to why the transaction was flagged, canceled and I was lied to over the phone. MoneyGrab claims confidential security rights to lie, cheat and steal. They shall come to rue this "business model".

Opened up an account recently to send money to an orphanage in Uganda. My third transfer, MoneyGram closed my account without any notification. Not trustworthy. No explanation is not cool. We don’t do things like that in the USA!

Moneygram money order charges approx. $18 to $25 to refund money. Then require you to wait 3 to 6 weeks for a refund. Although verbally they tell you 2 to 4 weeks. Rather than refunding thru moneygram, they claim that it's in the mail and that's it's the post office fault. That you should do the process again. Crazy.

Moneygram May start out good for your first money transfer but later if you have friends or relatives in Africa it’s virtually impossible to get this company to send your relatives money even in emergency cases to transfer your money to them. Do yourself a favor and use Xoom.

Unbelievably bad reviews anyway for everything regarding there. I can say that this company mainly used for something like EUR transfers and that's really it, no less than that for sure. So please be sure to make it happen really before writing that bad things.

I made an error in the spelling of recipient's name and only realised this after I sent the money. I cancelled the transaction and re-sent. However this second transaction was blocked ( guessing because i wanted to send the same amount to someone with one letter different in spelling of name ) and I was invited to call to discuss which I did. I explained the error in the spelling but to no avail . The irreversible decision to block my payment had already been made so why ask me to call? The customer service agent, based in Asia, was not familiar with U.K. currency and kept on referring to Pounds and "Cents" and gave me a real grilling as if to say i was being scammed by the recipient. I wrote to complain about their poor customer service and punitive decision, no doubt made by an algorithm. MoneyGram agreed to re-open my account. I tried sending money to the same person two months later and yes, the payment was blocked again . Logging on to my account, I received the message "it is not possible to process your request" . After viewing this message several times, thinking it was a temporary technical glitch, I called them and was informed my account was closed. Why not just tell me the account is closed instead of displaying some cryptic message ? I called to complain and got no sense from Customer Services, the operative told me "it's OK, you were not charged" . It was not OK, as I was trying to send money, remember? She suggested trying another provider. I spoke to her supervisor who repeated her words Verbatim. Pointless having an escalation department if you just repeat parrot fashion . I was asked to complete a quality control questionnaire after the call, they couldn't even do that right. Hopeless.
Yes their system is discriminatory but I should imagine that they are also running scared of the American anti - money laundering rules

The company declined the very modest sum that I tried to send to a friend. I have a perfect credit score, many times more in my current account than I was trying to send, and have never had any problems with any financial transaction before. I tried to log in later, but the site wouldn't let me. I spoke (politely) to an agent who said that I wouldn't be able to use MoneyGram again, either online or in person - without any explanation. She just told me (rudely) that I would have to use another company.
I'm bewildered, angry and concerned for what this will mean for me in the future. Awful company.

These "pros" takes the money from account, then their security system stops the transfer but money is gone from account. Refund will be made 3-10 working days. Just amazing that they can still act on the market. Stealing money without punishment. Suckers. One star is one star too much

I have first registered online to send my money to brother same surnames etc.. I sent money twice and suddenly without any reason or explanation they deactivated the online account, I called them and they just said sorry we cannot help you, Then I just tried my chance and send money again from an agent in town, it actually worked for 3 months and after 3 months I could not also send money with agents. Always getting the same error code, I did call the support again they told me everything was ok and I should be able to send money which was incorrect I have tried a few times and different times, with different agents and to different persons, it never works again. And they are still telling me nothing is wrong to go try again like a joke, I am sure they know what is going on at the background, after my some research about them and customer support contacts, this company is run by Indian scammer cowboys, and they sell all the information they have about you including credit card details. Be Aware.

MoneyGram is the worst money transfer company there is on the planet, in particular their agent Bank of South Pacific (BSP) in Honiara, Solomon Islands is one of the worst agents in the world. Let it be known to everyone and travellers to the Solomon Islands, never ever use MoneyGram in that country, it will take 1 week before you collect your money, and it will take 1 week just for a simple correction to be made, and everytime they give you a Reference Number it is always invalid then after 1 week you will get a Reference Number that is working, their customer service is sooooooooo horrible, what a damnest MoneyGram agent and MoneyGram is the worst money transfer company, never ever use them. Go to Western Union instead they are first class with first class customer service!!

My MoneyGram account was permanently closed, without notification and without explanation from any service representative up through the supervisor/"escalation" department. I have only used MoneyGram to send four successful transfers to destitute members of my church in the holy lands (I am Christian). The only explanation for closing my account is to deny the free and peaceful exercise of my religious conviction in supporting the poor and persecuted. Boycott MoneyGram.

Horrible horrible company. I was sent money weeks ago. It was lost in the ether the first time when I opted to have an Interac email transfer (a service they offer in Canada). I phoned back at their suggestion every two business days for over two weeks. Agents were simply reading from generic scripts and it was clear they didn't have, nor were they interested in, any of the details of my actual case. Finally the transfer was cancelled by the third party (Interac), and when I called MoneyGram back they told me that the issue with the transfer had been solved and that I could go ahead and try again. They gave me their guarantee that the transfer would work, reminded me that the issues had been remedied, and gave me stats about how many successful transfers of this type they do every day. I made the mistake of believing them. The second transfer did not work, and now I'm looking at another indefinite number of weeks until I can even consider getting my money. One agent, after this recent failure, had the gall to ask why I would opt again for the Interac transfer if it had failed the first time -- this was after I had explained the assurances I had received from her colleagues.
Use WesternUnion. If something goes wrong with your MoneyGram transfer, and the frightening number of horror stories on this site shows that it's likely, you are pretty much out of luck. Your case will not be resolved in a timely fashion. You will be driven to madness by their customer service agents who are either ignorant of your case, or are instructed to feign ignorance of your case. I'm not at all confident I'll ever see my money. Pound sand MoneyGram.

I tried to send money to my brother in India. They cancel the transaction right after they took the money out of my bank account. I called, they said my account is under review, transaction cancelled and the money not was taking out of my bank account. After 5 many calls to the bank and money gram and many frustrating hours lost, they said they will refund the money and it will take 10 business days to receive it. Horrible company to deal with.... Will never deal with them account. Go to Western Union or other companies out there.

If I could give a zero stars I would. This is the worse company I have ever dealt with. Worst ever! My friend sent me money and I went to pick the money with my id and the transaction number, but would’t let me pick the money and they insisted that the sender would have to call them. I asked them why as my name was on the transaction, I had my id with me they could not give me a single reason. That’s why I always use western union instead. I would definitely recommend western union.

Terrible service. Tried to send money to a friend. Moneygram didn't release money and asked me questions that I don't think its their business. How long I know that person, how old is he, when last time I saw him, how do we communicate, why I am sending money to my friend. Finaly my friend didn't get the money. Transfer was denied. That company are so stupid. None of them speak normal English and no brainers. I closed account with them and went to Western Union/ Swift bank transfer. Less fees to pay and less questions. Let them go bankrupt.
Do not bother to use their service. Will have to wait 10 days for refund.

I was Using MoneyGram once in a while. For no reason, they closed my account definitely. They are not giving any reasons, I cannot have any explications and they let me feel like a criminal. They openly told me to use another service from another company. I will do...
