Been with santander for over 20 years and must say I have had enough. There customer service is terrible and like others have said they rightly deserve 0 stars. Every person you speak to tells you a different story. They are so difficult and whe things go wrong which is there fault they don't like to take any responsibility for it. I had what is supposed to be a manger tell me keep talking madam I have all the time in the world. Enough said really I am moving my banking to nationwide.

Been with business banking for 10 years and this bank has become progressively worse. The local branch now state they cannot deal with business transactions. The experienced staff have been made redundant and counter clerks lack experience. We have wasted 3 hours this morning trying to access our money to pay a bill .We have had to visit the branch twice and referred to telephone banking to be referred to the fraud squad and then told to attend the branch - yet again! We were told to log our complaint with special department - who does not reply! Don't waste valuable business time - change bank as we will do.

If I could give 0 stars I would...their customer Service is a JOKE more often than not, you get someone who contradicts the previous one, and I owe about triple what the car is worth and I have been paying on it for 4 years And it's a 2012 with a cracked bumber! My payments barely have scratched the surface of my principal loan. My interest has increased and I dont know how. Please dont go through this bank...if they mention Santander...walk away...better yet run!

This bank has coursed me so much distress even after explaining I wasn’t well. Santander staff in their call centre actually said they would not listen to my complaint about how rude their staff was with me told me we won’t take a complaint against staff! Been with them 14 years and now I’ve closed all my accounts with them. They charged me fees and kept sending me emails and text messages saying I had no money in my account which was incorrect the staff literally spoke to me so arrogantly and rude it was unbelievable and she was from their complaints team. I asked if I can speak to the complaints manager but she wouldn’t not let me I said I had a new complaint and she said we will not take your complaint and go to the FAS. After reading the reviews on this site I can see why people don’t like Santander they seriously will be out of business if they done change the staff in their call centres! Not even worthily of 1 star bullies rude unhelpful disrespectful and just after your money!

I visited the Santander branch in Cwmbran, South Wales today. The staff were lovely and helped me extend my student account. A lovely lady named Pat helped me, as my account was due to close in a year and she was able to help me extend it until the date my course will finish. The staff at this branch are friendly and helpful. The Santander student account offers a helpful rail card discount and overdraft which helps with the struggles of university.

Both my elderly mother and I went into our nearest branch of Santander this morning (Pontefract) to try and resolve an issue my mother had gaining access to her account. We were told to take a copy of her passport, which we did (although it expired in August).
My mother has no need for a new passport, nor does she have a driving licences so the member of staff refused to help her. She explained that it was 'policy' it had to be valid photo ID (i.e. in date photo ID) She went on to say they 'may' accept other forms of ID but did not qualify 'what the other form of ID' were in any detail - she merely said it would be at the bank manager's discretion. So, I have no idea what would/wouldn't be acceptable.
I cannot imagine that my mother is the only Santander customer who doesn't have a valid passport or driving licence. So you would think they'd have a list of other things that are acceptable forms of ID.
Both my mother and I were naturally disappointed to say the least. What made matters worse was the fact that back in March this year I'd asked a member of the staff to change bank cards for both my mother and I (as we both currently bank with Santander) given there was suspected fraudulent activity on one of the accounts. So, it's okay and straight forward for other people to gain access to your account, but you cannot gain access yourself. What's wrong with this picture!
When I said that we'd close our accounts the member of Santander staff simply responded with the line 'fine, if that's what you want to do'. If she applied the same level of customer service to all Santander customers I doubt she'd have a job at all.
I have asked the complaint department to call me back, let's wait to see if that actually happens.

Dreadful service at the farnham branch...my card was lost next door at wh smiths so I went into the branch to cancel my card..I requested £200 to tied me over until my new card arrived..I produced my driving licence..but was told I could only withdraw £50 as I could not provide my card details.......who knows their card details..after much ado they allowed me to withdraw £100 ..even though the staff admitted that they knew me...yet recently I'd left my purse on the bus will all my It when going to Guildford...this branch also knows me and allowed a £200 withdrawal...this states it all close down the farnham branch they really don't care about their customers and the problems they come across..

Shouldn't even be able to give one star!
Avoid all online mortgages at all costs. Get messed about and communication is very slow and customers get forgotten about if you don't chase it up yourself.
I have put an official complaint it but I don't think they'll look into the system of failures that occured.

Just had a problem making an online payment. Called customer services, Lovely girl in Sheffield answered and sorted the problem immediately. Couldnt fault the service at all and only reason I have marked it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it took about 20 minutes to get through but thats the same everywhere with banks! Far too Understaffed for the demand required.
I was pleasantly surprised after reading the terrible reviews whilst waiting and was expecting to add my own tuppence worth of negativity to it but my experience was actaully very good.

Absolutely awful customer service. Been with them for 22 years and today they cock up my account and can I get hold of them, can I heck! The phone line just keeps asking you to wait with no update as to how long the queue is or where you are in it. Caused me considerable time, money on the phone/ charges and stress already and I still have not managed to get hold of anyone. New bank account being set up with someone else on Saturday.

Disgusted at how my 88 year old uncle with dementia was made to feel alienated, threatened and upset by the horrible people at the branch in oldham. They took him away from his carer/niece who he is most reliant on for memory and speach, was forced to answer questions he clearly did not know the answers to. Though they did not take his needs in to account when doing this. All employees should be ashamed of themselves! I would give 0 stars if I could.

Santander online banking is as helpful as a pregnant jelly fish. A session of it can cost you a heart attack. Particularly when you have to complete an international money transfer with foreign names and long numbers. You have to concentrate and double check everything you put in. Santander doaesn't accept any other language specific characters, its boxes are not long enough for
full names and it kicks you out in a flash, so you have to start all over again. You then know you have to rush like mad for fear of being kicked out again. As if this wasn't bad enough, your confirmation disappears before you can save it. And you DO need it for various reasons. There's no way to trace it back, as if your transfer never happened, so you get no proof. On top of that San-bloody-tander's transaction fee of £25 (for what?!) is often more than the multiple worth of the transferred sum itself. Still the worst to come: you're left with no proof of transferring the money, the payee can't see the said money on their account for weeks, so who's got it? The b(w)ank, who else? I really need to get down to do some research and take my custom somewhere else.

Every single month on the telephone to security team as they block payments and the lock me out of internet banking.
yearly turnover is in millions but they block access for making 1K payment.
I cant run my business - Santander takes atleast a good few hours a month - not to mention the stupid security questions that then needs me to go to the bank with ID- what a faff.
Stay away if you are a business owner
Moved my accounts to Barclays and what a breath of fresh air

if I could leave no stars I would ! Never have I ever encountered such dire Customer Service. Have a finance agreement for car purchase, made a payment of £5000 to lower the final payment which was accepted and two weeks later receive over £3000 back as I had apparently paid off more than I was allowed, and yet nothing was said when I made the payment. Lodged a complaint and customer services said I should of said " can I make a payment of 5000, rather than saying I want to make a payment of 5000, so all my fault apparently, very unreasonable woman, rather than saying sorry it should of been explained , just said I worded it wrong.

Avoid this nasty bank that treats you like a fraudster and blocks your access to your own funds. I wasted an hour and a half of my life today listening to various teams from the bank insist that I had to come into branch to verify myself after I tried to make a payment in July yes July!!! Better to stash your money under the mattress than have anything to do with this inefficient bank. They will just stress you beyond belief. Switch away.

Appalling experience just trying to change my address by tel. Spoke to one person and their manager neither of whom could explain why their one wrong security answer and you're out policy makes sense.
Poor level of training of Santander staff but also poor attitude of staff and complete lack of understanding of customers viewpoint. Bonkers way to do business clearly not interested in minor accounts. Don't bother with them.

I got drugged and woke up in a car with 2 men in the middle of no where. I woke up in the car at 4am (2 hours after supposedly getting in) where they stole my belongings. A day later, I realised that they had managed to transfer the entire contents of my account.
After calling Santander, they placed the blame on me and said there was 'no way' they could have done this, and that 'people transfer all the money in their bank accounts to new payees ALL THE TIME'.
They declined my request for it to be reimbursed, despite me having no money whatsoever to buy food or pay my rent. He said the only way I could complain against this is if I had hospital notes of me getting drugged. Easy to say when you wake up without all your things, no money to get anywhere and no phone to call anyone.
After telling the investigator this, he said there was nothing we could do and that I should 'have a lovely afternoon'.
Honestly cannot believe the lack of humility by staff on the fraud team, this man was stone cold and horrendous.
Will be changing banks to Monzo, who are 4 times more likely to identify fraud.
Avoid Santander or risk losing your money to scams.

It is impossible to get through on any number... with awful hold music, constantly interrupted by message promising to put you through - which never happens.
