When looking for an auto insurance company, do not go to Safe Auto Insurance. I started with them in April 2017 and left that July, 2017, because each month it would be a higher price. They are professional con artists.

Here's the thing. Safeauto is actually Safe Auto Group Agency inc. "Group" is key here. This means Their group, and their main, one, insurance co. is Millennial Specialty Insurance. That company is backed by underwriters, which means they are not insurance themselves as such, they just back millennial for a piece of the profit in case of big loss..in other words they are gambling investors.
What does this all mean to you? Well first it means your money is being spread around and Must cost you more than insurance from one individual company. That does not mean they are not competitive, but that no matter what they say their costs are higher...and etc. Neither do I like that they use the BBB as a qualification. Read mine, or virtually any other review here and you'll see why.
Other than that I don't have anything against them; for their ilk I'm sure they are as good as any, but..there's a better thing to do.
I was in the auto body business for 35+ years, and learned a lot about insurance companies. Across the board the biggest percentage of them are flat criminals, yet there are a few, the oldtimers, like Aetna and Travelers that take good care of you. That's one thing, and true enough, but they cost accordingly, and there is a better way; a way to get all the coverage you need, And want, for less than that high dollar coverage.
A truly independent agent is what you want. Don't be fooled by the word agent, or agency. They all, including this one, say that. This is a single person, usually, not counting a secretary or that. If some "agency" has "Reps" they are not the one. This will be an agent, one who takes you on as a client, and finds the right insurance for you from all the insurance companies there are. These others sell you insurance from Their company (more on that) or group, no shopping around. This is the main reason why you can never get the best money deal from a single company. You can get it all, and it may be good..or not..but their price structure simply doesn't allow for the lowest prices across the board no matter what they claim.
So what else can, and will, an independent agent do for you? First, kno that they are the little guy. They Need your business to survive, unlike the biggies that only claim that customers come first. They will put together a package for you Without upselling a bunch of stuff you don't need. If you do have a claim they will see that you Actually get paid, and if you can't get enough from that, they will work it around so you do..if they possibly can, where No insurance company will do that. Their adjusters are there for the specific purpose of seeing that the company never pays one red cent more than they must.
How do they do this? The simplest of all market rules. They "buy" wholesale and sell retail, except it doesn't cost You! Agents, because they are agents, get to buy quantity, i.e. at discounted prices. You can't get those prices because you're not an agent, so he can get you exactly what you want, from any company one at a time for each segment (and there are thousands) for the very best price, his profit being the difference.
There's more as well. You not only get the benefit of the agent's experience, (above) but things you can't get otherwise. Say you want to go to Mexico or Canada. Your not covered unless you bought that ahead, and are paid up at some insurance company. You call your agent, and if he's a good one, he'll write up that coverage for you and let it lay in a drawer. If all's well when you go it goes in the trash, free. If you need it, however, he collects for it and sends it in. It's dated before you left...but can you even imagine an insurance company doing that for you?
Oh..one last thing. The difference between a broker and an agent (you'll see both) is big. The broker sells insurance (or real estate or whatever) and that's it, he's through with you. He works for himself! An agent on the other hand works for you.
