Currently trying to sort out a third party claim for an accident which was not my husband’s fault. Sabre’s processes are not fit for purpose, it’s staff genuinely don’t care about the people they are dealing with. Truly appalled by their service.

UPDATE TO BELOW - after waiting 48hrs for a call back from Sabre, which didn't come, I rang them first thing this morning. I was told they had made arrangements with a Scrappage company to come and collect my car, I was speechless!! No one had contacted me to explain a decision had been made by an inhouse engineer who based on the info that my cat convertor had been stolen, estimated the repairs would cost in excess of £1200, so deemed it a total loss! My car has not even been inspected yet. I said this will not be happening, I was not going to let a company tow my car to a scrappage firm and wanted them to arrange for an assessor to come and look at my car to make the assessment in my presence- this is part of my policy.
Sabre have now passed this to an Assessor and I am waiting for this to happen -
I've also said that if the report still deems it a total loss I will cancel my claim - so you can probably see that is what the final outcome will be. I have been backed into a corner by Sabre who are quite happy to write off a perfectly good car instead of repairing it - I've looked at costs for replacement catalytic convertor - £100 from a London company, maybe the lambda leads need replacing, another £10 - £20 and a couple of hours Labour- this does not come close to £1200! They are inflating repair costs and making up figures to get out of doing repairs. I have been so upset by all of this and can't believe a company can treat paying customers in this manner!! I'll be following this up with a formal complaint to Sabre and to the Financial Ombudsman.
Last Friday I had my catalytic convertor stolen from my car while it was parked in a Cambridge Park and Ride. It was immediately reported to the police and was caught on cctv and the theft witnessed by the site manager. I reported this to my car insurance broker Sure Thing who logged my claim and passed it onto Sabre. I was given an incorrect telephone number to contact them on and told to wait for a phonecall from Sabre about my claim. I chased this up on Tuesday first thing, to be told my claim had not been activated. I explained my situation, I have a car that is undriveable due to the criminal damage, I live in a rural location and need this to be rectified as quickly as possible. My claim was processed and passed onto the repairs team, I was given the garages details who would arrange to do the repair, collect my car and supply me with a courtesy car. I was told someone would call me within 2 1/2 hours, they didn't and I rang the garage myself. They said they had little info about the repair from Sabre and also it was unclear who had to provide a replacement car - they didn't have one available! Told she would need to contact someone else to check this information and would call me back - they didn't! Yesterday first thing I called the garage to find out what was happening. The receptionist I spoke to couldn't help and took my details and said someone wouldcall me back. I got a call from the garage to say they were too busy and couldn't do the repair so they have passed it back to Sabre. I ring Sabre repairs team to find out what is going on. They tell me it's been passed to another garage, I'm given details for them and told they'd call me about the repair. 9.30am the new garage calls me, they are a bodyshop and I'm asked what damage I have to my car. I explain it needs a catalytic convertor replacement as it was stolen, I don't know if there is any other damage underneath the car as it's not been inspected. I'm told they have 1 mechanic and it's a mechanical repair, so they are not sure they can do the work. After 2 conversations with her manager, they still wouldn't say whether they could do the work and if they could it would take a week or so as they too are busy, oh and they don't supply courtesy cars!! I called Sabre straight away to tell them this and that I'm not happy about it and why are they directing me to a garage which can't repair my car and give me a replacement car! I'm paying for this in my policy, this is not ok! They tried to find out why the garage would not do the work and provide a car and now it has been escalated to the Network Management Team who are going to try to resolve this issue. It is now Thursday, I have not yet had a call back from Sabre, I have chased this numerous times and feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall. I will be calling them again tomorrow to chase this, as I need my car repaired and I won't be fobbed off.
Communication is awful, they are very reluctant to ring you back, they would rather email you. I've had one letter from Sabre since the claim advising me to call them, which I have at least 2 or 3 times a day since! I'm frustrated and find this whole thing exhausting, especially as it was a criminal theft from my car - not something you expect to return to after a days shopping trip.
I will be leaving Sabre when my policy ends in November and I won't be touching them again for any kind of insurance in the future.

Don't be fooled by the Response to my post of September 1st. I suspect they thought a posted response would make them look like they cared. They just wriggled out of it on a ridiculous technicality and showed absolutely no interest in long term customer retention.

Their attitude to and their treatment of the elderly is disturbing.
Once they have made a decision, it stands, regardless of the facts.
I have never before described dealing with any company or individual as disturbing. The kind of disturbing you would not expect outside of dealing with incarcerated psychopaths.
One star is far too high.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
The reply from Sabre is just fake platitudes as part of marketing.
Sabre has been given the policy number, on several occasions, along with why I feel there is a problem. This should have been a simple matter to resolve. Their staff have made it otherwise.
The amount of stress I have been caused by Sabre, could kill, at my age.
Their handling of the matter has been so appalling I have left my first ever review.
Halifax car insurance can no longer, whilst underwritten by Sabre, in my opinion, be considered a reputable company.

They look to penny pinch on everything and make claims very difficult. Quoted a really weird clause hidden in T&Cs to avoid paying for a broken windscreen repair which normally has a standard excess of seventy five pounds.
Don't bother unless you have to.

I took out a car insurance policy with the Halifax last Sept 2018. In June this year received a letter from Sabre to inform me that my car had been involved in an accident on 13th Feb 2019, and was apparently a write-off! I immediately thought this was a scam so I called the Halifax to inform them, I was shocked to find out that Sabre were my insurers and that I should contact them.
On contacting Sabre I was dealt with by a (couldn't care less) unhelpful young chap I've since found out was called Charlie. I asked some fairly simple questions that apparently were to difficult for him to process like Where did the accident happen? and Who
was driving? What was the damage? etc etc. In the letter it stated that my car was beyond economical repair!!! I'm still driving the car it has never been involved in an accident and I requested that Sabre send round an engineer to inspect it asap as it was parked on my drive virtually every day after dropping my Daughter off at school.
I did not even know what make and model of car that I'd supposedly hit (and obviously left the scene which is a criminal offence!) so someone had made this unsubstantiated claim against me and it was Sabre's duty as my insurers to obtain EVIDENCE from the third party to either prove or disprove this allegation! I left this with Sabre and heard nothing more.... By September my policy on this vehicle and my other car were up for renewal so I went online and got quotes only to find that as there was an outstanding claim I couldn't get insurance!!! I was fuming!!! I am now dealing with Luke Barker at Sabre who has assured me both in an email and on the phone that this CUE has been removed according to all of the insurance companies I've tried IT HASNT!
If Sabre had acted promptly and efficiently working on my behalf as my insurers, the bogus claim made against me in February should have been RESOLVED in February not left until my policy renewal date!!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE!
I have been driving for 33years and NEVER have I ever been refused insurance until now thanks to Sabre! I intend to take this matter further watch this space!

Unethical Practices: I got a call from this company as one of their insured clients had crashed into my car while it was parked and unoccupied. The Sabre sales adviser, Mohammed, was very rude and blunt and got most of his facts wrong when describing the accident and potential damage to my car. He kept asking if I had instructed repairs on my car, which I had, as I had reported the incident to my own insurance company who were very professional and, as it was not my fault, had authorised repairs. Once I informed Mohammed that I had reported the claim to my own insurers, he got irate and asked me why and I said because that is what you do when someone hits your car, you report it to your own insurers!! I then hung up on him when I realised Sabre were trying to get me to go through them for repairs, probably to keep their costs down. I thought this was a very unethical practice and they shouldn't be contacting the third party directly, they should be liaising with the third party insurance company. I would not take out any insurance with this company based on this. Also prior to the call they sent me a spurious text message to my mobile with the message 'HELP' in there. Obviously another scam to check the mobile number is legitimate. If you aren't switched on these sort of tactics could work on someone more vulnerable.

What an absolute disgrace. I would have left two stars if that was possible
Searched for quote to add my 17yr twins onto my car insurance. Quoted £98 which was a acceptable. One has now passed and the increase in premium was £3600. The only other option is to take them off at an astronomical £185 + £25 admin fee. Pay £42 deposit or insurance will be cancelled within 7 days. They state that they offer discounts for learner drivers but nowhere on their site does it state that this is the case. I was told it was I the t's and it's and when I asked for a copy i was told it was a mistake.
I would recommend Marmalade for your learners. A little expensive overall but well worth it.
I understand that as a parent of a youg driver it will be expensive but a complete lack of transparency and honesty has left me feeling very bitter regarding GoGirls policy and procedure but what is absolutely horrendous is one really dissapointed young adult. Can't wait to see what happens when the next one passes!

Quoted one price then it went up due to a windscreen replacement. I did complain, and Sabre looked into the case and reversed their decision and got it for the original quote. Thank you to Sabre for looking into the matter very promptly.

If I could rate Sabre zero stars I would. Absolutely appalling customer service, as soon as there is an opportunity to drop a customer they will take it. I was in an “incident” 6 months ago and I incepted my insurance policy five minutes before the alleged accident. At the time the other party made it clear that there was no problem and we did not swap details as our cars were not affected. A month and a half later, I received a call from a lady from Sabre called Ms A O’Donnell informing me that he made a claim against me. She was very rude and blunt about it, and was not interested in hearing my side of the story. Sabre told me that I had incepted my insurance after the incident when this is not at all true. Sabre did not want to go through the fuss of thoroughly investigating this incident because as they are my insurers, surely they would take my side, right? Wrong. The accusation made by the other party beared all the hallmarks of a false whiplash claim but Sabre did not even try to take into account my side of the story. When I lodged a complaint against the cancellation of my policy, they completely ignored my points and dismissed everything I said and went ahead with the cancellation. They even told me to pay a cancellation fee. The cheek. Furthermore, I was placed on the fraud register for five years which I think is completely out of order because I have been driving for more than thirty years and my record is squeaky clean yet I felt like I was being treated like a criminal. Outraged by this company, I advise everyone to steer away from these crooks.

What a company, happy to take clients money but then find every possible excuse they can to delay payout on a claim. Customer of ours had insurance with this joke of a company, vehicle reported to them by the Police that the vehicle had been stolen in mid July 2018, vehicle recovered and was stated to be beyond economical repair, since August 2018 they have constantly asked for the same correspondence to be sent then re sent then re sent, then to be told today that they need 'Originals not copies'! WHY NOT ASK FOR THIS IN AUGUST 2018!
So some 5 months after the theft was reported to them by the Police they are still trying to find a way out of paying - DISGUSTING service - BUYER BEWARE - DO NOT USE!

I would beg potential customers NOT to choose this company. I naively thought I was insured directly with RAC until I was in an accident and was re-directed to Sabre. My first call to them following the incident - where somewhere was racing, undertook ME, misjudged it then slammed into me AND was so aggressive at the roadside that another driver (who saw the whole thing AND later provided a witness statement) had to pull over and come running to help me - did NOT go well. They were not sympathetic at all. I explained that I was just letting them know what had happened and that I fully didn't expect to hear from the other driver again, but gave them his details anyway. Weeks passed...nothing heard.....then I get a letter from a Mrs E Ramsey (as abrupt in the letters as she is on the phone and also in emails) to say that given they had not heard from me they would be ruling on the side of the other driver. Excuse me...but give I AM the customer...are you guys not supposed to be in my corner? Also..hadnt' heard from me?I had not received a single letter from Sabre in weeks but they claimed they had sent many. And actually THIS 'decision' letter was the very 1st thing i'd received. They said they had written numerous times asking for me to provide a written statement but I had received nothing. I was crying during the call as my sister was in ICU and gravely ill...this I explained to Mrs Ramsey. NO reaction or sympathy or comments or acknowledgement whatsoever. I did in the end send my witness statement, along with photographs, arial shots of the scene. And the other witness did the same. Bearing in mind this was sent in October... 2 weeks ago I received my renewal notice from RAC and my insurance had jumped from 151 to 605 (bearing in mind I drive a 21 year old car with a declared value of only £100). When I rang RAC to query this they rang Sabre on my behalf. SEVERAL times. In the end even the RAC guy admitted it was all a mess and they were terrible. First call they claimed to RAC they didn't know me. Second call they said yes we know here but there IS no claim, its just info only. Third call (after I forwarded emails from them with a claim #) they admitted they were aware BUT they were going to probably rule as my fault and close this. Please note I didn't even put a claim in for the damage to MY vehicle which I just paid for myself. Shocking lack of organization and customer service and NO indication whatsoever that they are on your side and want to defend or help their customers. In all my years of using insurers this is the absolute WORST experience I have ever had. I've lost my no claims discount and can't argue that as Sabre as insisting its my fault (still...how??). Fortunately Admiral has insured me since for only £160 even with all this considered.

i was unaware i was actually insured with Sabre until someone crashed into my newly MOT'd car,i was unaware i had used a broker called autonet insurance. long story short, terrible company that are willing to give up and settle for 50/50 at every turn, even with sufficient evidence. even their own staff were siding with me at various points, until they recovered their costs then dropped all willingness to pruse the claim further. kept passig me on to a thrid party service company to recover car then 4 weeks later they would ask if i had arranged for my car to be picked up..it went on like this for months. stay away and do not use by any means
UPDATE: i now have said third party recovery company that Sabre said i had to use now calling trying to recover costs 3 months after the claim was settled/i walked away.
say they are now at a point where they are trying to recover costs from the third party, well...why the hell are you contacting me.
DO NOT GO AHEAD WITH THESE GUYS, I BAILED AFTER THIS AND AM HAPPILY WITH ADMIRAL.

I hadn’t no issues with Sabre, until I had to make a claim.
I had an accident in February this year, which was my fault and involved no other vehicles.
I have called sabre at least twice a week, since my initial claim. I have received no communication from them except one letter when I made my original claim. I have received 2 emails from them - both in response to emails or phone calls from myself.
Eveytime I call they ask me for something or something else is required, but if I hadn’t called them they would never write or email me to request it. I’m pretty much doing their job. Every time I call im fobbed-off with “we have everything now” and that it will take a few days to review or maybe in two weeks. Then it’s an interview because the value is over a certain limit, then it’s “we have the report, we’ve not had a chance to look at it yet, maybe by next week”
I have been without a vehicle since the accident and am no closer to getting one. The people at the end of the phone couldn’t care less and give the same automated responses every time I speak to them.
Avoid at all costs, Sabre are all fine until you actually need them to provide a service.

My husband & I were involved in a road traffic accident. The third party ran into our rear at great speed.
We were on holiday in Scotland at the time & had to hire a car at great expense.
Sabres web page says that vehicles will be assessed within 3 working days, it’s now 17 working days & counting.
Sabre have not contacted us once, all communication has been done from our side.
We were told initially the car was a write off, then we were told that it was potentially repairable, then on a following call a write off. Recordings of conversations will back this. Eventually after several days we were told it hadn’t been assessed. Each time we rang we were told it would be assessed on a particular day, it wasn’t. The last conversation we had said the car was being assessed & they would ring us with a report today. Yet again we rang them only to be told they didn’t yet have a report!
We had to return our hire car to Scotland, so we are now without transport & have no idea where we go from here. The overall service we have received from Sabre so far has been totally unacceptable.

Took 2 months to settle a straightforward claim for £1350. Totally unacceptable. Don't be taken in by the low price. The true test of an insurance company is how quickly they process claims, and on that score Sabre fail miserably. They also took another two insurance payments after the car had been written off and the DVLA had been informed.
Avoid this company.

Like other customers I would have given zero stars if it was an option.
The real test of an insurance company is how the customer is treated in the event of a claim and Sabre has failed this test miserably!
My car was destroyed by fire on 12 July 2018 and 1 month later my claim has not been completed. A Sabre agent came to my home to take a statement which I thought was odd as I had already provided Sabre with full details of the incident. Within the first few minutes Sabre’s agent repeatedly stated “the fire was on the same day your car failed the MOT”. I wondered why he was repeating himself and then he said in an accusatory way “your MOT fail repairs were going to cost you £10,000”. I showed him the MOT fail certificate and pointed out his figure was completely ridiculous given the minor nature of the fail points. He agreed the repairs would not cost anything like £10,000 and that his figure was grossly inflated. His attitude towards me then completely changed - he actually said: "you're not what I expected to see when you answered the door". The behaviour of the Sabre agent and this comment made it abundantly clear that I had been prejudged by Sabre who had decided that I had destroyed my own car because I didn’t want to pay Sabre's ridiculous estimate of £10k MOT repairs!! I am utterly disgusted at the behaviour of Sabre and have challenged this as well as the ridiculously low and clearly un-researched value they have placed on my car. I will send an update post as soon as I receive a reply.

My car was hit at my previous property on the day I moved. It took 4 phone calls for them to actually get my address correct. 3 weeks later awaiting an assessor to come and review the damage on my car & he was sent to the wrong address!! 2 weeks later I finally get a report back (write off), they came & collected the car later that week & it’s now 3 weeks later & Ive still had no cheque & when I rang up, surprise surprise they’ve sent my letter with the offer in to my old address!!

Started off okay...
I began my insurance at the end of 2017. I couldn't fault the service, they were absolutely wonderful and relatively low-cost insurance quote.
However, I have had an incident, in which i would have happily taken 50-50 liability. No vehicles were damaged, whatsoever. The third party initially took full responsibility for the incident and, i had accepted this and did not peruse any claims. With this being said, the third party changed their stance on liability and were now claiming whiplash (please note this is 3 months after the incident). Sabre have rolled over and let this happen, much to my protests and lack of evidence. Although, i have not heard anything in months. I am due to renew my insurance in October, i will NOT be doing this with Sabre. I have had no correspondence around this incident in 5 months. I have no idea if the claim was settled, and how much the third party received for their false whiplash claims or, if my insurance company used their knowledge to fight the ridiculous claim!
Sabre happily take your money and, give it away it seems!
