Stephanie Wallace is the worst landlord! I rented her house and was a Roomate with her sister. She let her sister put cameras all over the house. Her sister is a mental nut job. She does drugs and goes on crazy rants for no good reason. She lets her crazy sister do whatever she wants. I finished out my lease, I just paid double rent. I couldn't live there any longer. Her sister damaged the house and in the end she made up things so she wouldn't have to give me my deposit back. I have rented a lot of places. This was the craziest experience! I'm getting this out there so no one else will have to go through this.

I think this app is a scam, it didn't even say they will charge every week until you cancelled, There's not even a direction how to use this site, I'm trying to cancel my subscription but can't find a way to do it

I have used this site 3 or 4 times in the past 5 yrs. It's been sketchy every time. It's got worst as time goes on. Many of the women contacting me treat it as a dating app and all but actually cross that line soliciting service's but insinuate we can be more than roommates. Others have been married couples who have multiple partners coming and going. I've had guys send me pics of themselves in the bathroom with their shirts off with the Camera lower than it needed to be too. I'm genuinely just looking for a room to rent.
This last one the person only would accept payment via zelle, cash app or Amazon gift cards. They have also been at a "seminar" for at least 3 wks out of state and want a deposit before they will give the lease agreement or show the property. My sister is a realtor and said the person does not show they own any property in the county & it sounded scammy. I finally got the person on the phone briefly after a few wks and you could hear another person coaching them of what to tell me to deposit the money. I've never met them at all but they expect me to just deposit money into their account which I can't protect myself against fraudulent activity if I authorize the payment. Then supposedly I can pick up key from airport USPS to move in before they get back into town... it just feels super sketchy & scammy. Who would let someone move in before they return to their home without meeting them in person or doing a background check? I agree with many of the other reviewers too.

NEWER EVER USE THUS SITE!!!!
Be careful with them.
They have charged me for background check, then I bought subscription for $9 for 5 days, just to check how the site works. When these 5 days expired, they immediately charged me for $25 more.
I tried to argue with them, that I just bought 5 days subscription and do not need their services any more. They did not care at all.
They charged me for background check, for 5 days subscription and $25 - just for nothing.
Never deal with them!

I've had the same experience everyone else in this "Bad Reviews" section has had! I'm so glad we have these to go on/"support", as the company site itself gives us nothing. And in fact takes money from us for nothing, too. I was glad to see that a person discussing the avenue through Craigslist to Roomster had had my same bewildering experience... One might think, "This is the way it has to be done in these times, I guess." But, no, if so many others are complaining too.
No thank you!!

I think roomster has met its demise all signs point to overload or fraud. I went threw with them 3 years ago and got my roommate from Craiglist not Roomster.. over 50 texts and only 2 responses and I have turned in at least 5 characters for fraud or commercial deception.
at least 50% of the people I viewed NO pictures No verification and 100% social media fraud. Facebook site not located or not avail. Instagram site not found
And only in the last few day I gotten responses which have been blocked by Roomster with a big red stamp. DOES NOT MEET ROOMSTER STANDARDS MESSAGE DELETED.
HOW ABOUT INITIAL LOAD AND IN SECOND MONTH AND ZERO LEGITIMATE RESPONSES
Am I not a happy camper.
all the good reviews are YEARS old buyer beware... another sight Roomates.com almost same thing. that's another post

Was referred to website from a craigslist ad saying they want a "trustworthy person" to complete registration on roomster. I did, and added a background check (they charge 10 bucks for what cat be obtained from a sheriff's department for $2).
They charge for messages, and so far every single post I've tried was a scam "not available right now, but sent me a deposit through PayPal" (DON'T DO IT, PayPal, cash app, venmo, Zelle... do not offer "purchase protection" that means the other party can chose to refund but the transfer service does not guarantee anything!).
Alternatively if not scammers, there are also perverts, the kind that ask for a picture and start suggesting "service exchange".
Can this be reported to FCC or something?

Bunch of scammers.
I had 4 different people contact me telling me the same thing (all the rooms were in different locations), that they would be living in the home but weren't around for a year. Needed me to send them money before I could get the keys via USPS.
The site is a joke, don't waste your money or time.

It’s the worst experience I’ve had by far with an app...it’s a scam! Let’s say you sign up and you think you’re god to go: then someone messages you (which seems to be ‘fake’), they tell you that in order to be able to communicate, you have to be “a full subscriber,” at a cost of $9.99 plus tax for 7 days! which amounts to a total of $10.88. And when you once you do that and confirm the purchase, you find out that you have to go through “a background check,” and that costs &9.99. It’s ridiculous!

This app along with a few others is the work of a company called Rio Wealth. They operate from a NORD VPN which allows them to appear as if they are from the United States when in all actuality they are in India or Ghana. The idea of the company is to scam people by posting attractive ads for rooms for rent, women seeking men, even work from home jobs. Point is, if you see something that sounds too good to be true and the English in the text is a little broken, it's probably them. No matter what, they will always want your money. I've been trying for months to shut them down but they are good. And what they are doing in the United States technically IS LEGAL. Be careful.

Don't fall for their scam. First, they advertised a very good deal room in Craigslist. When you contact their faked ad, they will email you to join them in order to rent that room, then comes the message from the "owner" that you have to pay to read. YOU HAVE TO PAY TO READ THE MESSAGE, the trap is right there.

PEOPLE BE AWARE, THIS WEBSITE IS FULL OF SCAMMERS, AND ONE OF THOSE IS TRYING TO RENT MY WHOLE HOUSE FOR $500.00 INCLUDING ALL UTILITIES, THE HOUSE IS VERY CLOSE TO U.C. RIVERSIDE. HE WANTS MONEY TO BE SENT THE SCAMMERS' WAY, BY WESTERN UNION, AND THEN HE WOULD MAIL ME THE KEYS TO THE HOUSE! I FOUND OUT FROM A STUDENT THAT IS LOOKING FOR A ROOM THROUGH ROOMSTER AND THE SCAMMER GAVE HER MY ADDRESS, SHE CALLED ME ON THE FOR RENT SIGN THAT I HAD JUST POSTED OUTSIDE. I CONTACTED THE SCAMMER AND SURE ENOUGH, HE SENT ME MY ADDRESS AND PHOTOS OF SOMEONE ELSE'S HOME.

Same! They deserve a ZERO! This is the worst subscription-based service I've ever used! No one else will CHARGE YOU FOR FUTURE SUBSCRIPTION BEFORE YOUR CURRENT SUBSCRIPTION ENDS! Customer service is arrogant and feeds from pre-made scripts. Everything to make you feel like you've been scammed. Learn from the 143 reviewers here and stay away!
