Don't waste your money here - they have finally priced themselves 'over the moon high' and think they are the only store where you can get good quality outdoor clothes and items - wrong! Much better deals at Cabelas, $#*!s or Sportsman. And just look at these one star reviews over to the right! Add poor customer service to that also - I wish they'd go out of business, truthfully.

I just purchased the Mountainsmith waist pack from REI. I love it. It holds two water bottles on the outside pockets which leaves plenty of room inside. The cinches on both sides snugs the pack closer to your body and just release them in order to reach inside the pouch. It's that simple.

The Head Kore 105 is a remarkably light weight ski that crushes the terrain, I ride the 189 cm and I can't tell you how quick and maneuverable they are in all terrain even at high speed. It's able to carve up the groomers but also shred the outer area's. I also ski in the Head Kore 1 boots which are equally as light weight as the ski it's a great set up. There quick to react to big turns or having to $#*! it down. I ski in Alaska and this is a fun set up!

I returned a few items over a month ago to REI. They still haven't refunded me, but instead sent a $20 gift card.

I had to write a bad review this morning, and I felt the need to also write a positive review for a company that I think does a great job. First company that came to mind was REI. My experience there this weekend was, as always, stellar. This company just gets it. They are incredibly responsible about dealing with COVID19 in their stores, emphasizing safety and cleanliness. Their staff is always friendly and helpful. Their products are top of the line. And most of all, they stand by their products and provide outstanding customer support. A+ to REI!!

Ordered a pair of snowboard bindings to ship to a store right before COVID hit. The store closed down so the order wasnt available for pickup and the order ended up not being shipped, and by that time they were out of stock on my size. I let them know this and they apologized for the inconvenience, let me know that it might be back in stock again soon, refunded my credit card, refunded the $20 gift card i had used and also gave me another $30 card so I could possibly afford a more expensive pair that was in stock. Less than a week later my original pair of bindings I was looking for came back in stock, so I saved $30 in exchange for a little time wasted. My advice to those ranting against their service is maybe work a little more with them before giving up and just writing a bad review. Might have to call a couple different times, chances are somebody will work with you

The sales staff, check-out staff, and customer service agents are inept and unmotivated to provide average service. Today's incident involves a purchase of a sleeping bag. The order went through and I got an email confirming that it was in stock and I could pick it up at the store. After a few hours, I got another email saying that they cancelled my order due to stock issues. The order had been confirmed and I was told it was ready for pickup! Unfortunately, this is typical for REI. Since they failed, I ordered the bag from Amazon. I won't give REI another penny. They're a bunch of slackers, riding on an undeserved reputation. They have their line of Co-op items, which can't be bought elsewhere, but those items are generally below par. The shock cords in the $350 tent I bought two years ago already needed replacing, and they hadn't been used more than about a dozen times. So, I'm happy to skip their Co-op products and go with better brands. Don't waste your time and money on REI!!

I have been a cardmember since 1969, bought at the original(?) multi building store in Seattle. I have shopped at REI's across the West and Midwest and ordered online since then. I have always found REI carries quality brand name equipment. Their salespeople both online and in the stores are very helpful and their customer service is good, fast, and friendly. I use the 20% off deal that comes with each annual dividend to buy one major item such as a car rack or Patagonia down coat.
Thanks to REI.

I made an order with a gift card I received from someone as a GIFT and added 30 dollars which Rei cancelled a few hours later without informing me; had I not checked the status of the order on my account. I contacted live support which confirmed the cancellation of my order and assured me that I will get refunded, after 10 days of no contact and receiving, no refund and no email confirmation from them confirming my refund, I sent an email to support, they urged me to call the international support line and the Bankcard Department regarding my refund which I did, or at least tried multiple times to reach out to, they put me on hold on for each of my trials with every disregard to international telephony costs. it's the 8th of july and I still haven't received any refund from YOU. today I contacted live support and was told that the gift card was fraudulent knowing that the person that gifted this card to me is a client of theirs, the support team told me that there is nothing they can do about my claim and that I should not shop from them. I told them to trace the gift card to the original owner and investigate with him, but I want my money back they proceeded to disconnect. I am trying to contact paypal to solve this issue because any communication with rei is failed. It's by far the worse experience I had with any retail online store and I have received multiple parcels coming from around the world. It just seems like their international services are a scam.

Nobody answers the phone at corporate or the local Marlton Store. I will never buy another thing from this company.
Customer Service must not be important to the powers to be.

Ordered shoes in stock with 1 week ship date. After 1 week on my order page they now say 30 days ship date back ordered (no email from them; I checked on my order page this morning) They also put 3 holds on my cc. Probably will have to cancel. Bad company.

I had bought some Zero Trail sandals 9 months ago from the REI in San Antonio, TX, and tried to get a replacement because one of the straps had popped off. Well the employee at the check out counter said they would not take them back because they showed signs of being "worn". Wow! I told the brilliant clerk that they are trail sandals and of course they have been worn, but a strap popping off was not normal and they should be replaced. Unfortunately he did agree with me and would not replace my sandals. Not the customer service I expected, so I will not be renewing my COOP membership with REI.

I’ve been a REI customer for probably 15 years. They’ve historically had great service. I’m not sure what has happened, but it’s now terrible. Ordered something 2 wks ago. Got a confirmation right away stating that it would be here yesterday. Got another confirmation a week ago that it was on its way and would be here yesterday. Not here yesterday, not today, & It might be here Monday - who knows, my confirmation still says 7/2. I’ll have to start shopping at their competitors.

I ordered a Garmin watch and bicycle bell for curbside pick-up at the flagship store in Seattle. The order was ready for pick-up quickly. The curbside pick-up was a bit slow and clunky. Hopefully they have improved that system. I also ordered a pair of running shoes for delivery. They arrive earlier than advertised.

Today is June 17, 2020. I ordered trekking poles on May 25 for the sale price of $135. On June 4 I got an odd email note they REI notified USPS to expect my package. What? That was the last note or communication I received. USPS tracking number has no information. Today I decided I had waited long enough. I tried their chatline on their site. Over 30 minutes later when I wasn't staring at it someone answered and quickly gave up on me and disconnected. So, I called their 800 number. After a few minutes of attempting to answer their machine's repeated questions correctly I finally got put on hold. My call wasn't picked up until 48 minutes later. I was informed my order had "slipped through the cracks between REI and the post office". I was assured the trekking poles would be shipped again tomorrow and this time by UPS which increases my chances of actually receiving said item (my opinion and experience).
It's not just about the trekking poles. It's about REI's total disregard for my time and aggravation. I spent over an hour and a half to correct REI's lack of controls and quality assurance. These trekking poles suddenly cost me many multiples of $135.
My experiences in the stores as of the last couple years is equally poor. Everything is locked up in cases now. You need to find a person to unlock it, and they're always busy with another customer. The customer service counter doesn't exist any more. To exchange something just get in a overly long line and wait your turn with paying customers for a cashier. Then go get your product in the right size or whatever and get in the same ridiculously long line.
What company would use USPS instead of UPS except a big conglomerate box store looking to save a nickel at the expense of customer satisfaction?
Now that the "co-op" box store REI has driven out all the smaller competitors their customer service is obviously a very low priority. I have been a member since 1991 which means squat.

Having been a member of the Co-Op for many years, during COVID, I have worked to support them and other companies as I could. Ordered shoes that didn't fit, in addition to waiting over a month..and still waiting on a refund, as I had to buy new shoes again...I had the privilege of waiting on the phone for oftentimes over an hour only to be told to be patient. The stores still closed so you can't return there. For a company that has done such an ex exceptional job over the years, very disappointed with their adjustments based on the situation and their lack of candor in serving their customers. Very disappointed. Figure it out guys and fix the issues!!!!

NEVER AGAIN! REI lost my business when they became so greedy. You see, at one point this was a pretty decent company with good, quality products and most importantly customer service. Nowadays...well let me just say they have the worst customer service and products tend to break or be faulty. Their return process is far from easy and they try to cheat you any way they can. Their live chat is a joke..only going in circles with no kind of resolution ever..stating the obvious over and over..not sure why they are even employed to do what we can do on our computers. The company itself has just truly declined, mostly out of corporate greed and lack of care for its valuable customers that have been with them from the beginning. Lost my business. Oh and can we say a bit overpriced much.

Buy from amazon. I ordered on 25 May with a 4 June shipment. This is not the company of the past. Find another vendor that will actually ship in a responsive amount of time. REI is no longer it. Put your shopping dollars in a vender that delivers.

This is the first time I have ever felt the need to write a review on a company. I needed to return an item I purchased online because it did not fit. I used the pre-paid shipping label provided by REI to return. The package was never scanned, presumably lost. I've contacted customer service twice about it and they keep giving me the run around. Return policy states they are not responsible for lost items. I explained I used THEIR label, and they told me there is nothing they can do. Suggested I take out a claim for $45 shorts with UPS instead of simply refunding. Clearly greedy and money hungry. This was my first and last time ordering from them.

They are possibly the worst company I have ever purchased products from... I purchased a bicycle on May 3rd and have been told for the last 3 weeks that the bike is "being built" or "waiting to be built"... for 3 weeks straight... it is going from one status to another with them saying "it will be shipped out this week"... Horrible service and expectations... How dare they come back to me with all these lies and use the pandemic as to why they are so late: "we are so busy and backed up as we have had many bike orders come in and we only have 3 centers open"... Uhmm helloooooo... management wake up?! Do you go to a restaurant, wait for 2 hours to get food they come back and say we are so busy we are not ready and you still say you're okay with that? get the hell out of here with that BS! Figure it out... if management can't then fire them... that's how it works... we are all managing working without losing rhythm and better yet your competition Amazon has not skipped a beat... all my stuff from Amazon arrived within 2 days that same week I ordered from REI... useless strategy... never will go back there again unless I have to return the rest of stuff as I'd rather take my business elsewhere!
