The worst experience package ever. It deserves less than a star ! We exchanged the original voucher and paid extra for theatre and dinner experience only to then find out that the musical we wanted to go to was not available, and from the “vast array of musicals” they only had literally 3 available !! i just wonder why don’t they show you the list of available shows before you actually pay for the voucher exchange ?!? what a scam.

I bought a voucher for Zizzi restaurant. Red letter days advertised it as 30%off. I thought there must have been a drink included for the price I paid, as the cost of the voucher was more than their set menu. When I arrived at Zizzi, I was told their was no drink included, I asked if the set menu was a special offer, it was not, this was the regular price. No more red letter days for me, I’ll just turn up at the restaurant and get my meal cheaper. If you are not at discount site, then why advertise the experience as 30% off the regular price?

Let’s be in no question this is the worst present to give to anyone. DO NOT BUY A RED LETTER DAYS VOUCHER GIVE THEM THE CASH! You have been warned.
In short, we were given a voucher, booked a short break which wasn’t available when we tried to take it. We have changed the voucher for smaller high street meal vouchers which at least means we will get some value from it but are REALLY DISAPPOINTED.
The process to change the voucher if you don’t listen to our advice is time consuming and not easy.

Booked Experience Mega Store, to race cars round a track.
4 cars, 6 miles each.
1. Not all cars listed were available
2. Had to pay extra to go on the weekend and for insurance
3. Was cones on an air field, not a 'track day'
4. Didn't go above 60 miles per hour!!!
5. Waiting times are horrific
6. No high speed passenger lap.
7. 6 miles in each car, definitely not, 4 miles in each max!

Just tried to book the experience and spent most of the call as they try to sell more. You cannot do the experience without paying more e.g. a Lamborghini experience has an excess of £9,000!! But how lucky you are to get insurance to protect against this!! And of course they don't have the car you want but for a small fee you can get an upgrade or wait for over a month (after the expiry of the voucher of course).
Just feels like a rip off - not a gift.

If you hate someone but feel obliged to buy them an overpriced present buy them a red letter day gift! Its the best way to waste their time without actually buying them anything they can use!
If you buy them a gift they cant use, they can "exchange" it for around a tenth of the value on a very limited number of alternate "experiences"....if they pay the extra costs!
Literally I cannot advise people to avoid Red Letter Days at ANY cost highly enough!!
If you want someone you love to go camping in devon or go paintballing just buy it for them, you are doing them NO FAVOURS AT ALL by trying to do it though Red Letter Days, you'll be paying more for something you could get significantly cheaper and far far easier by just removing Red Letters Days entirely from the equation....unless you really really hate them, in which case the perfect gift!

Disappointed. I received a gift of driving experience. It took many tries to redeem the voucher and then venue cancelled.
Got another date further away but by this time I was pretty fed up by the process. The main car I booked wasn't there on day and gave up.
I wouldn't buy one as a gift and disappointed.

Avoid at all costs.
My wife and I received a weekend break voucher for Xmas. We have been trying to book a hotel but to no avail. Limited selection, limited dates, restrictions on booking.
To get what you want you have to pay far more than going direct or massively compromise on your expectations. We are now just looking at any option not to lose the money our friends paid out.
Great idea badly executed. May as well give your money away.
Would not recommend.

Website is never working, phone never connects to anyone. This is a faceless organisation taking money from people and not providing the experiences that people have been gifted or have booked.
How they are still able to operate is beyond me.
Can the government intervene and stop companies like this taking people’s money.

Avoid using red letter days for track day experiences. It was bought as a gift for me knowing that there is tracks close by that were included but when I went to book I was told that the nearest track was Loughborough (3 hour drive from me).
Even worse they have loads of hidden extra charges for things that should be included in the package like insurance for the cars and paying extra for cars that were supposed to be included. We weren’t able to attend today due to unforeseen circumstances and the office said that you can’t rebook and all of the money my friends and family spent on it including my own money to pay for the hidden charges have now been lost. Disappointed isn’t the word.

Received theatre tickets as a gift- when I phoned to book seats I was initially offered several seating options , when I mentioned my Redletter Days voucher she said that I should have mentioned that at the start. I was then told that the vouchers didn’t include booking for a Saturday evening and seating on other dates were limited. The lady I spoke to was clearly trying to cover her tracks she first mentioned that I had top seating vouchers and I could down grade but then said there was no availability, then she said I could pay an extra £18 to go on the Saturday evening. I am totally disappointed and would NOT recommend this company.

Terrible experience with Redletterdays. Selected a one night stay in London which I had to add an additional payment. Was not able to view availability of dates, so then spent several days chasing and negotiating with the hotel who finally decided they had no availability for people with "Redletterday" vouchers this year...
Went back to the Redletterdays website to exchange for another "experience" which I was advised I could but the website wouldn't let me.
Still trying to get some kind of refund or exchange. Will never use them again!

Red letter days sell vouchers to the london eye to redeem on the day, but the london eye does not accept them. This is a scam. Do not book.

Bought as a present from our daughter, very thoughtful. However getting a hotel that actually wants to take you regardless of time of year...well. Not very impressed. Feels like a very shabby service. Bit like have a two for one at Sainsbury’s but there’s only one on the shelf lol . Better places to buy than here. Very poor.

Well, my daughter bought me a ride in an armoured vehicle, for an Xmas present. A very thoughtful and loving daughter and I have been on one of these locally and loved the experience so she thought this would be great.
Problem the company didnt run the event on a May 4th Bank holiday weekend the weekend I wanted to go...then my life is busy like all of us with commitments nearly every weekend. I am in Norwich its in Oxford, so I thought in the end I will exchange it for something local problem the date has expired 25th Sept I am writing on the 29th so guess what you've got to pay a £20 fee to extend before you exchange....this in scamming circles would be called pushing the mark for extra money. Very poor experience so far and wouldn't make me rush out to buy one of these myself and as I spend loads of my own money on experiences I think its just poor judgement on their part to market a sub 12 month expiry product.

Was advertised as 15% off for mother’s day, valid until midnight on Sunday, but when I input the code it was not accepted. This resulted in me having to pay the full amount.

Just been reading other reviews from different experiences, and wish I’d seen theses before buying one for my husband! I bought him an experience in rally driving in Northampton silverstone for his birthday. The only good point was getting into the Subaru. I was very disappointed to say that from that point onwards, the 10laps (which on red letter stated the experience was for an hour), lasted roughly 10 minutes. The safety and talk of experience was rushed to start with, then heading off into the car he was passenger for the first lap as stated in the experience. When my husband got in, apart from the bragging of teaching the queens bodyguards and being able to do a drift with no hands??!!!! he was basically told to nurse the car around the lap. Any acceleration he used, he was straight away shot down and had to slow down! This was supposed to be rally driving!!! Due to the nature of rally driving, hands are to be kept on the steering wheel at all times. The experience states that he will learn to do power slides and handbrakes, this was not really brought up! Now due to the fact that my husband is not a rally driver?!!.....this is naturally a harder thing to do when you have been driving for so long. On his third power slide, the instructer told my husband that if he let the wheel pass through his hands again he would stop the car and be told to get out. Rude! So all in all, the “thrill” experience was anything but! I felt so Sorry for him as he’s a grown man with an interest in cars big time, not a spotty nosed teenager with a car fetish. I certainly won’t be recommending this place, nor booking through red letter again since the experience did not in any way live up to the blurb.

Booked a driving day in Anglesey for my partner. He used it in March and was supposed 3 miles each car. However, he was given the shorter route and resulted him being shorted on his laps in the cars. Emailed rld straight away no response! Be aware to ask what circuit you are going to be driving to make sure you get your full experience. We won’t be booked from red letter days again..!

Be aware, RLD seem to be adding £50 to the cost of any experience when you attempt to book using a generic voucher. Wanted to book a £199 spa experience with my partner, only to see the price jump up to £249 when we input the voucher code!
Just do yourselves a favour and give your loved ones cash.

Wow, very poor value for money, also I live in Cumbria and there is one thing that is available to buy in the full county. I would never recommend red-letter days at all, never.
Why would I want to travel 100 miles to have an experience, even the better one are only just average and still well over priced.
Not good in my view.

Absolute con.. when I went to book my experience, the experience had closed down. I exchanged for an experience labelled Mondo Breweries (after paying extra..), and when I went to book that with the company, they offered me two different breweries at a much lower quality and at very inconvenient times, in the day on a weekday. I was also told by the supplier they are continually advising RLD of this and requesting a correction to the advert.
Contacted red letter days by email for a refund on the extra I paid, giving up on the gift entirely, but was refused until I called them to speak to them at further inconvenience.
Avoid avoid avoid... they exist to con gift recipients out of further money and wrongly advertise their goods. Disgusted.

Worst gift anyone could have bought me. Hotels who only accept mid week bookings or out of season. Once they know you are a Red Letter customer they downgrade you from luxury to bog standard room. Afternoon tea experiences who when I tried to book said only if they had empty seats do they offer the to RL customers. When I eventually found something to use this card on it was a struggle. it came back activation code unknown. Unbelievable!
As there was an activation problem I spoke to WHSmiths from whom card was purchased from originally. Within 24 hours I received a full refund + postal costs from them. Can't praise them enough.
It's been 18 months of hell. RL customer service team not helpful.
Do not waste your money give cash or store gift card instead. Will be appreciated much more.

Bought a 2 nights luxury hotel stay deal. Very limited choices of dates and locations. Most hotels don’t include stays on Friday night and Saturday night and most hotels do not include July and August dates. Finally we found one hotel to book where could stay for a holiday on a weekend. However, even that hotel turned out to be a rip off. Despite booking an executive suite which is sufficient for stay of 4 people, we were charged £50 extra for 2 children. What is the point of booking a spacious executive suite suitable for 4 people when you end up having to pay an extra £50 for children? Most of the hotel deals on RedLetterDays do not include children.

If you don't like someone and want to frustrate them, cause them hassle, and make them pay money towards their own present, then buy them a Red Letter Day experience.
