Complete timewasting exercise. Spent the last 48 hours following signup dealing with incompetent. Upon signing up it says "now check your mailbox" - then the relevant emai arrives 17hours later. Set up in the UK yet you get a message saying that someone will call you at 08:15am Central Time which is 1:15pm UK time - 90 minutes after the promised call which never mataerialises I cal them and then told by the Customer Service Operative on the end of the "fanatical about support" line that he can help and that we would have to reschedule a call with the right person. COMPLETE TIME WASTERS - if you know whats good for your business I would avoid this outfit

Perhaps Rackspace was the premium hosting company at one point in the past. Now the only thing remaining of that glory is astronomical prices.
- Their servers are slow.
- Their infrastructure is inferior / less reliable than many. And generally over complicated with no clear performance benefit.
- Their customer service.. well simply dooes not care. I will not go into details here, but trust me that's the case.
- And they are grossly overpriced. I have finally had it and migrated all my stuff from Rackspace to Liquidweb. Now I have much better servers, responsive support and at less than 1/2 price. Literally saving hundreds of dollars per month.
People, avoid Rackspace. They are not premium. They are simply not competitive anymore.

We've been a Rackspace email reseller for at least 10 years. Service has alwasy been great, but last year they forced us to "upgrade" roughly 50 mailboxes with sync to their "premium" mailbox offering, which includes additional features that our customer does not require (at a much higher cost). Now, with one month notice, they increased the cost of the other 400 mailboxes that we have with them by EIGHTY PERCENT; rendering many of those accounts/clients unprofitable! We already started migrating away from them due to the previous fiasco, but now we're going to make a concentrated effort to eliminate their services entirely. Unfortunately this process will take months, if not a year or more to complete AND some of our customers will not a). want to move OR b). pay more so we'll probably lose some of our customers in the process. NOTE: I just realized that review is for rackspace.co.uk, not rackspace.com (I doubt there's much difference though).

Please be warned if you consider this company to use as a management/service provider for your hosting environment. We used them the move from a hosting platform to Google Cloud. The sales pitch was great - all our concerns were covered. We got the Aviator support level which promises to cover almost everything. The real world is horrible: every kind of support is a joke, not responding to anything. They have a mentality of 'go and find it out yourself' and if you point this out to them they get rude/inpolite. Very unprofessional, but the rates are professionally high. Not recommened

time to move to AWS and away from Rackspace
Customer service is a joke, and no one knows what they are doing.
On hold for hours, no calls back, go elsewhere

Our 4 year contract for a dedicated server concluded 6 months ago and rolled over into a month-by-month arrangement. The price increased by 15%, but even though we are on a monthly contract they still demand 3 months termination notice. They can set up new hardware within 10 days but it takes 90 days to switch off an out-of-contract system? Ridiculous.
It's symptomatic of their real attitude to customers.

Stupid verification system and unprofessional staff. Just wanted to sign up for rackspace email service (14-day trial!) and my order was rejected without any explanation. I called them to verify my account, but they said "We're sorry, the account can't be activated." Disappointed and not recommended! Horrible!

What can I say, Absolutely shocking!!!!!!!!! I contacted them for a new internet circuit as a NEW customer. Got passed around 7 different people, none of which could put me through to some one that can could price up a new internet line. If this is how they are with new customers I wonder what happens with their old customers????
Seems like one hand does not know what the other is doing! Employees do not seem very interested in their company as a whole. If you call is not relating to their job, they will fob you off to any one that will pick up the phone.
Rack space are known to host and run the infrastructure for many large organisations – God help them!

They market AWS Aviator as the fully hands-off tool whereby your own IT team doesn't have to focus on the server activities. Unfortunately this isn't the case; during the onboarding process with AWS our team was required to perform so many activities that we decided to completely abort the service. After that another EUR 5k was deducted from our account without our approval. All in all a quite unpleasant experience.
Update: 2k was refunded, good support from Sam T.

No longer the "fanatic" Rackspace we once loved. Having been loyal customers for 9 years, we assumed migrating over to AWS "managed by Rackspace" would be seamless. 6 months and $30,000 later, we left without hosting a single site. Complete disaster.
AVOID THIS COMPANY.

I've been with Rackspace since about 2005, and they USED to be great until they got purchased in the last few years. Their customer support continues to go down the tubes. Once you get to a tech they are great - but the management and the service surrounding the techs is horrible. The service was truly fanatical and you developed rapport with tech guys that advised well beyond the scope of customer service required. The culture is horrid, all the good people left. There are many other options out there - it is just a big job to leave.
If you open a ticket it can go weeks without anyone bothering to open it. You have to call to get someone to look at the ticket AFTER a 15 min hold time.
Cant stand em - cant wait to leave em. They used to be fanatical 5 years ago - i used to wear their shirt. I burned it last week.

Started to use them over 10 years ago with 1 server to now have over 15 servers. Speed and detail of support has got much worse over the years.
Rackspace Cloud (OpenStack) has no future. Has not kept up with AWS/Google and so is now very limited in services and functionality. Just started moving from dedicated/Rackspace Cloud setup to AWS as supported by Rackspace and so far good. Will update review as we progress.

Awful support. We have been with rackspace reselling their product . In the beginning their support was quick and awesome. Today you have to wait about 5 to 10 minutes on chat for an answer and then the subsequent responses come with a similar delay.

The Rackspace Managed Cloud platform allowed us to eliminate dedicated hardware servers and start using a robust, flexible platform for our (and our client's) web services delivery needs. We can almost instantly spin up the configuration we need, easily change configurations as needed, and never be paying for more "servers" than we need.

Incredibly overpriced compared to AWS Lightsail, and with much worse performance. Migrating to AWS Lightsail took a site from loading in 12s seconds in EMEA, 14s in ANZ, 8s in NA to sub 6s in all global markets.

Rackspace charges your credit card repeatedly even after you request service and account cancellation. Their support will not reply to the repeated cancellation requests.

Horrible. Their customer staff are well trained but mindless drones. If its not a question like can you reset my password etc they have no idea and will happily waste your time for hours on end.
Avoid at all costs for Australia, latency makes their IMAP products useless after 2.5GB in mailbox size. 26 hops - 2 times outs.

Extremely poor services. I've never seen a hosting company with so much customer unfriendliness.
Due to public holidays in my country, we delayed in making payments, and RackSpace pulled the plug off my server.
Yesterday, we made payments (over 2000 USD), and it's almost 10am the following day, these guys haven't switched it back up, especially after calling them twice at midnight for over 30 minutes.
This isn't the 20th bad experience with RackSpace in the past 6 years of being on their service. I'm definitely pulling out this year.

I use to be very satisfied with this company, but in the last days I am very irritated. When I create a ticked to get an answer for a problem, there are no reaction..
Last week I sent some money by mistake but they have not returned it yet.
That is very slow I think. They don't even tell me when I will get it. I will contact my bank soon.
I am very disappointed.

I chose Rackspace because Farsehosts was diabolical. Rackspace Fanatical Support turned out to be nothing more than sales pitch.
Their T&Cs say you can't sue them without arbitration first.
They didn't restore my backups which I paid extra for, but instead argued about it for days - whilst my sites were down. They said my restore request was additional work, and therefore cost. I only wanted 5 days of 2mb MySQL databases!
The SSL on my managed server expired. Not Rackspace fault no - despite them providing the SSL! Auto renew? No. Email reminder? No.
I requested Plesk upgraded to unlimited domains but they wouldn't later downgrade when we had fewer sites!
They sent two invoices in error over 3 years (over £300 each).
I went from being a server admin novice to solving server issues quicker than Rackspace experts when working in other Digital Agencies.
Most agencies I've worked at who use Rackspace complain about the slow support. Therefore I suspected they saved their best support for big customers, but that didn't appear to be the case.
I now use Digital Ocean and learnt to build and manage servers from their expert support docs saving £2000 per year.
