Belton Woods Golf. Very disappointed to return from lockdown to find course allowing rough to grow and encroach too far onto course. Management stated they dont want drunken societies attending and deliberately making the course a greater challenge. Noble sentiments but losing 5 balls a round and 5 hour rounds is not enjoyable. Time will tell if they can attract the numbers to make the course pay

22 of us booked up for a family reunion at Norton Park, having enjoyed previous ones at Cheltenham Chase (both Q Hotels). All ready to go when the government advised against all but essential travel and socialising, especially for oldies and/or Londoners. We had a use it or lose it booking, superior room, dinner, bed & breakfast and decided we'd have to cancel, and lose the money. When I phoned Q Hotels reservations the delightful Katy at once offered a six month deferral, ie a credit note. They didn't have to and I do think that's a classy response to this worldwide emergency.

We had booked a Spa weekend for 14/15.February 2020, and I even called the Hotel on the Tuesday prior to confirm all of the times. We arrived on Saturday 15.2.2020 and we were advised we had missed our Spa session. We were told we were booked for 2pm and I booked for 3pm. They did not have any sessions free Saturday/Sunday. After been asked numerous times our location (what does this have to do with anything) we had a refund, we were left very upset as this was also our Anniversary. The lady who dealt with this advised we would get a call or email from them to offer us a deal and as of yet nothing. Extremely disappointed in their customer service.

I had signed up to a "rolling" gym membership which turned out to be from Nov to March? I was told I wouldn't have a cancellation penalty and could cancel at any time. This wasn't the case. I have paid £41 effectively for nothing for the month of February as I can no longer use the facilities as I am no longer in the area for work. I had to contact the leisure department 3 times via email before a response and tried to call twice but as usual noone is there to answer. I spoke with both the leisure manager and operations manager via email who just pointed out terms and conditions of a contract that was filled out after I signed this and I wasn't given a cope of my terms and conditions. In hindsight bad move from me. Worst thing is this is where my work book me for hotel stays and I can assure you i won't be using this establishment again for anything. Dishonest staff and pencil pushing managers.

We stayed in The Park Royal Hotel, Warrington on Christmas Day. It was a very pleasant faultless visit. The staff were friendly and helpful. Both the hotel and rooms were very clean. The room was peaceful. Food was very nice. Would use them again.

We have stayed at THE STRATFORD in Stratford upon Avon a couple of times and have found it a very pleasant experience.
This weekend we decided to go there again only on arrival to be told that I infact I hadn't booked THE STRATFORD but THE STRATFORD MANOR.
This was a mistake on my part so we drove the 3 miles out of Stratford and arrived at THE STRATFORD MANOR around 7pm.
Upon checking in we asked for a table for dinner as we had booked 2 nights evening meal deal.
We were told by receptionist that no tables were available and that we would have to eat in the bar.so we asked for a table for the Saturday night and was told that the only time was for 8.30 which is is bit late to eat but we again accepted this.
Although the food in the bar was nice we felt that the barman was not very friendly or polite and we was putting him out all the while.
On the Saturday we were put under a cold blowing air conditioning unit and we and the couple next to us had to ask for it to be turned off.once again our food was good but times between sittings were very long. What we also noticed was that half of the restaurant was not being used and cordoned off so why was I eating my dinner at half past nine at night??? On the positive side the room was nice and the food was good prices at the bar are pricey with a £5 pint of lager and a half glass of coke from a pump at £2.50.
As l came away on the Sunday all I kept thinking was I wish I hadn't clicked the wrong button

We visited as a four ball on a one night, BB+ evening meal with 2 rounds of golf.
On arrival everything started very well. Excellent welcome from the golf shop and Roger the starter is brilliant. Lakes course was disappointing. We appreciate that maintenance has to happen but the greens were more like bunkers. Not a major issue, particularly compared to what followed!!
After the game we called into the "claret jug" for a drink. 30 plus golfers being served by one person was not what we expected from a "4 star" hotel. Needless to say we gave it up, returned to our rooms to shower and get ready for the evening. No major issues in the rooms.
On return we thought we would try the main bar hoping for better service. One person serving! We managed to get a drink. The bar area furniture needs throwing out. The chairs are past frayed, they have holes in with stuffing coming out.
Decided our best approach would be to go into town, rather than fight at the bar. Wise decision, just wish we had stopped there. Returning for our evening meal we were sent to the main (only?) Restaurant, who told us as golfers we should go upstairs to a function room. On arrival upstairs we were told our booking was for the restaurant!!
Back we went! After an hour of waiting for our dinner, we gave in and left to find a restaurant in town (another taxi and additional vist for food). Other people, the next morning complained of 2 hour waits!
On to breakfast. 2 nice ladies who seat us. Coffee is garbage, from a machine! 1 toaster for a room full of people and a breakfast which can only be described as appalling and cold. Glad we did not get our meal the night before!I
I asked for a complaint form and was given a blank A4 piece of paper. I said, don't bother I will put it on trip advisor! The lady behind the desk nearly begged me not to do this and said that the general manager would contact me.
I have had no contact!

From the moment we arrived at Dunston hall to the minute we left it was awful. The staff in the bunker bar were miserable unhelpful and clearly wanted to be anywhere else but there. We ordered breakfast which took 1.5 hours to arrive as they lost the ticket - the same thing happened to someone else in our group. The staff had no idea what they were doing and were wandering from table to table with freshly cooked food trying to find who ordered it. After checking into our room I went to run a bath and found someones pubic hair in the sink and all over the toilet seat - it obviously hadn't been cleaned after the last guests if it was then the cleaners need to get their eyes checked! It was cleaned making me very late to meet our friends. Our evening 3 course meal was dreadful for a 4* hotel the starters were not made in house and had no flavour and the carvery was a joke - meat that couldn't be cut cold veg anaemic potatoes and gravy that was so thin it was like consomme as for dessert I wouldnt know as I gave up waiting for that 2 hours after we sat down. Breakfast was over cooked dry meat, mushrooms that staff were pouring water over to rehydrate. On leaving our room to check out the cleaning team had arrived and were swearing loudly walking into the laundry room about how they didn't want to be at work! I spoke to the manager - Martin after I checked out the following morning and was promised a phone call by Wednesday - shock horror no call and even after i tried to call him he was in meetings! Terrible place.

Room dirty and smelly- staff not very pleasant or helpful -- a wedding was taking place on the sunday evening and paying guests were ushered out of the decking area and tv lounge so the wedding party had priority noise from the entertainment was very loud and we were unable to get any sleep spoke to the manager and he was neither apologetic or helpful
The entire hotel is in need of a major revamp rooms are dated and not very clean the seating in the dining area is stained and not clean breakfast was just ok and bar prices were high
The barrier to get into the hotel is a accident waiting to happen as you have to wait on the road for the barrier to open and was never informed that you needed a code to get out
When we arrived at the hotel at 4.30 pm the room we booked was unavailable and was given a standard double room again no apologies just a matter of fact by reception staff
All in all a very unpleasant 3 day stay and would never stay at the hotel again and would advise others to avoid this un welcome hotel.

Aldwark Manor - Awful!
Totally rubbish. Dirty. Rooms not cleaned. Room not ready at check in time. Terrible food. Dinner for 4 cost us the same as the Michelin starred lunch we had in a pub 10 miles away. Appalling service. Noisy. Filthy hotel. Avoid it at all costs.

Absolutely disgusting. When you have a complaint no one takes responsibility.
I have sent four emails and nothing! When Belton Woods was a de vere hotel there were no issues.
Who is actually running the show here?
When you send an email to head office they send an automated response with an email address for their general manager, which bounces back as an invalid address!
Give them a miss- when their profits are down they may listen!

Very disappointed to find out the day before I'm due to stay at their hotel that they no longer run it. I booked a 2 night stay at The Westerwood Hotel and Spa for my partners 30th only to find out on the website that they no longer run this hotel and it's been taken over by Doubletree Hilton. We had no email to advise us of this leaving us in uproar as to whether or not our booking was still valid. Very disappointed this was not communicated to us and the option to cancel our booking made.

Ridiculous Online Gift Voucher Experience. Ordered a gift voucher online for spa experience as a gift. First two attempts transaction got declined, third attempt with a different card, transaction went through. Great. Oh no, received to gift vouchers via email, so printed off second gift voucher which I know the transaction went through and as it was a last minute gift gave it to the recipient.
Two hours later I phoned Qhotels to cancel the first transaction only to find they had no record of the transaction. I gave them all the required details and explicitly told them which transaction needed to be canceled. They took my number and went to investigate. The manager phoned me back later to say they had found the transaction and canceled the second transaction. She even acknowledged that she had ignored my request and just canceled one which had my full name on it and that there was nothing that they could do. No apology, no attempt to correct the situation, absolutely no care level what so ever.
Now I'm having to go back to the recipient to get the gift voucher back and replace it with another gift.

NOT HAPPY THAT A VERBAL CONTRACT BY THE CONTRACT MANAGER OF BELTON WOODS HOTEL GRANTHAM HASN'T BEEN HONOURED. Be very wary of signing leisure memberships, as what you are advised of verbally by the membership manager and the contract you have to sign do not correlate. i gave the required 30 days notice when moving house as advised by the membership manager and proof of my move out of the area however i am now being chased by their head office for a month's membership for my whole family even though i did everything advised by the membership manager at the time of joining. Apparently notice has to be given on 1st of the month to be valid, not a nice end to what had been a pleasant experience. VERY DISAPPOINTING

I have booked two stays at different hotels upcoming September and October 2018. I have been online for over an hour trying to find my bookings - The website is absolutely dreadful. No clues whatsoever. I have a username and password but no idea where to use them.
Very off putting before I have even set foot in the place. And no, I don't want to spend a fortune on premium phone numbers trying to talk to them.

I am very disappointed that you have failed to respond to either of these communications and must say that my opinion of Q Hotels has been severely diminished.

My wife and I went to the Aldwark Golf and Spa hotel in North Yorkshire.
Some good and some bad about this hotel. The good includes the view out of the window (hotel surrounded by golf course and countryside); the free-to-use swimming pool (not very deep), sauna and gym; the breakfast - good variety of food, although the bacon tended to be tough as leather some mornings. Staff are also friendly and helpful on the whole, although we did experience a grumpy spa attendant. The bad includes the prices of their own food from the bar (2 sandwiches, a bottle of water and a cider = £21) and their restaurant, plus the cost of spa treatments (£69 for a facial or massage - it's cheaper in London !!). Luckily there is an excellent pub in the small village, The Aldwark Arms, which serves good food and ale at reasonable prices. However, to avoid paying the hotels prices for food we had to drive to the nearest town-Boroughbridge- to find a supermarket where we could buy our own snack foods. But the main contention for us was the room. It seems the wing over the reception area is the old building. Other rooms may be more modern but ours was old and worn. The furniture was a mish-mash of old and miss-matched some of which was badly worn and scratched. We had a kettle, TV and fridge that worked but no mini-bar or the promised trouser press (not that we needed it). Also the wall by the side of the window was in a terrible state. The plaster under the wallpaper was crumbling This is classed as a 4-star hotel by the AA but they clearly have not seen this room for which we paid (including breakfast) £951 for the week (about £136 per night). The wallpaper and doors in that wing were stained dirty and peeling/ripped in places. When I told reception about the state of the wall plaster in our room they could only say that it was 'an old buildng' although I did get the impression that that wing is due for revamping.
We had brilliant weather all week so our holiday - visiting various places like York and Thirsk - was an enjoyable one. I would not write this hotel off completely. It was a bit isolated for our needs but it is a good hotel to go to especially if you play golf, provided you don't get put in room 204 or adjoining rooms in that wing, and have plenty of money! Finally, my last gripe is that on one night there was a 'party' or gathering in the bar/rooms below our room which went on till 12.30 am. Their talking was like having the TV on full blast in the next room. After 12.30 a few stayed on till 2/3 in the morning talking loudly and singing and finishing up by banging on the tables. Needless to say I only got 2 hours sleep that night. Why does a hotel allow such activity in rooms below visitors bedrooms ??
I filed in the 'review' request from the parent company and requested a call back. No call has been received from them as yet.
