About 6 months ago I bought a battery at the lake Grove pepboys. They were nice enough to price match a competitor. Now it's dead. Ok it can happen but I know it's covered under warranty. I called the 800 number because I couldn't find my receipt. Using the information from my bank account I gave them everything they needed to track it down. They said it would be 24-48 hours and they would email it to me. 4 days later I called up because I hadn't received it yet. I was told they found it and then put on hold for a manager who could email it to me. After about 10 minutes I was told the manager was busy but would email it to me by 9. At 10 I called back and got an unpleasant person who again confirmed they had my receipt and would probably email it by the end of the day. Later that day they sent it. Now I call pepboys and was offered to leave my car all day and they would try to get to it. Instead I made an appointment for 3 days later because that's the first one they had available for me to wait for it and not leave it all day. Now I wait the 3 days get to the store where they booked my appointment as a drop off. Then I'm told I don't need the receipt I bought because I bought it at the same store. How can one company handle a simple battery problem this poorly. As I write this my appointment was 45 minutes ago. My car hasn't been touched and what should have been a ten minute process is now over a week in the making.

Formerly LOVED Pep Boys. However this time they dropped a huuuuugge bombshell. Heard rumbling while coasting in my 2010 RAV4 SUV. Chuck was very kind to ride with me to hear the problem. He called it correctly saying it was my ball bearings. However, once checking it out, they claimed not to see/feel any "play". So Chuck said I needed tires and advised that I buy some. "Maybe that would solve the problem", he said. So I did. $700 later problem still existed. Took it back. They said to take it to the dealer. Dealer charged me $113 to confirm the ball bearings and said the job would cost $1600+.
If Chuck and the gang didnt want to assist me with the clearly diagnosed problem, they simply should have said they could not help me. I feel slighted, undermined, and cheated. I will never go back there again for anything and feel I should be compensated.

While shopping yesterday, I was by the Pep boys in Surprise and asked if they could check my battery, which had started "acting up", while I was at the store next door. Fortunately, they agreed. I was told it needed replacement (it was 8 years old) and was able to get an appointment this morning. The service associate, Anthony T, went right to work and was done within 30 minutes, replacing my cabin air filter as well. Not only was he exceedingly friendly and efficient, but he willingly provided several discounts! I heartily recommend this establishment.

TL;DR If you are young and/or female, avoid Pep Boys on 85th Street in Kirkland, WA. If you don't you will be ripped off by folks who have no qualms and no discernible morals.
I have been a customer of this shop for many years (10?). I have sent friends and family to this shop and repaired my two cars there repeatedly. Two weeks ago however my daughter's power steering pump broke. This is a $120 part on Amazon, the repair is taking roughly 1 hour. I was not home to check the estimate, but based on my previous history with this shop I advised my daughter to trust the work.... So imagine my surprise when they charged $1800 for a repair item that would be under 500 anywhere else. They charged 6+ hours of labor and $664.24 for the $120 part. So I go to ask them what's up. Here's how that went (the manager there was Chris):
Me: "Why did you charge 5X the Amazon price for this pump?"
Chris: "We don't source our parts off Amazon".
(So the fact that they source parts from a more expensive place is an excuse? And if they indeed source from a place that is 5X more expensive, isn't that shameful incompetence?)
Me: "Why did you charge for 6+ hours of labor when this repair takes one hour?"
Chris: "We also flushed power steering and replaced the spark plugs".
Me: "That is ridiculous, highway robbery level theft".
Chris: "We checked everything with the customer".
Me: "You mean my 18 year old daughter, right?"
Long story short, no remorse, no shame, no clue about what it means to show loyalty to their customers - nothing that comes with what you would call a honest business. And what infuriated me more is that they don't pull this nonsense with me, an adult, but they prey on the young and likely on the female customer. And worse, the car did not even run for one day after the "repair" - they failed to check that the alternator was not charging and the battery came back completely depleted. $1800 for a $500 repair and the car still does not run. That's what they do to a 10+ year client. Just imagine what they'll do to you.

My personal experiences with Pepboys has been up and down. But the southern California locations really take the cake. During a routine inspection, they ran my friends completely restored VehiCROSS into a wall and after a lot of fighting only offered $4000 for it, which will not cover repairs or replacement including the restoration work. Deplorable. If you can, avoid them at all costs.

Stay away from Pep Boys Auto Repair Shop at 30085 Industrial Parkway SW, Union City, CA 94587. One of their mechanics sabotaged our BMW X5 by making a cut in one of the drive belts, damaged the oil lter compartment, and made cuts in the both front CV axle boots. We have a statement from another shop verifying this. The idiot mechanic did the sabotage because he disagreed with the fact that the shop had damaged the oil lter compartment and the drain plug when changing the oil. They will be taken to the Small Claims Court for reimbursement, they will be reported to the BBB and the Bureau of Automotive Repair.. So, beware and stay away from this shop because it will happen to you as well.

I've been a customer of PB for over 5 years, but have noticed a serious deterioration in the quality of work and importance of customer service over the past year or so. The website had incorrectly listed the wrong battery for the Prius 4 days to realize this & secure the appropriate battery. Meanwhile, I was without my car for 4 days. When they did replace the battery (located in the rear of the car) they neglected to put everything back in place...basically, just dumping everything in a pile. When I had an oil change, they neglected to replace the oil cap causing the oil to evaporate, but fortunately, no damage before I noticed it. As I was concerned about this deterioration in service, I contacted PB on 3 occasions and each time I received an email stating that "senior management" would be in contact "within 48 hours" and on 2 occasions stated that Mr Arash Behfar, Area Director, would contact me. I was never contacted, but I did call and left messages for Mr. Behfar with no response. Bottom line: Service is deteriorating and the fact that management is unconcerned with customer feedback supports the reason for this decline.

Sometime ago I needed brakes put on my car. I got passed around by several guys who each gave me a different price and time frame. I was even told to leave my car while they disassembled my brakes. I did so. Before I left I was for em a price and time frame. You was called back by the time I got there there was whole other story. Then the shop manager (Hispanic guy) got involved. He was just as inconsistent as the staff and worst. He literally lit a cigarette in front of me, spoke to me i a condescending tone and when he realized that he couldn't hold my car hostage for an undetermined amount of time and over charge me, he told me that he didn't want my business. I recorded the whole conversation. I called the corporate office to complain. I never heard back from them. While this was a while it continues to play in my mind. There's no way I will let that fly. This store located at 3829 Austell rd Austell, ga. 30106. Needless to say I got much better service and much better rate at Kauffman tire. Not all Pep boys are trash but this particular group of people were. I wouldn't be surprised if the manager quit because he clearly wasn't happy with his job.

I went to Pepboy's in Cornwell Heights only because they are open seven days a week. My blower fan stopped working on my 2012 Versa do I brought it in. I was told the job was going to be 660. It was high but they've done work in the past and I work seven days a week. The job was completed at 5:45pm. I forgot to mention I had an appointment for 8:00Am. The manager told me they were closing at 6:00 and I would have to wait till Sunday to pickup my car. I had to be at work at 7:30 and had to get one of my friends to take me. In addition, I was told that the High HVAC Resistor needed to be replaced and I would have to bring it back. The part is about 35 dollars and I paid 245. When Pepboy's asked me about my service experience and I told them, there was no response. The manager is nasty and should be fired.

While having front brake work done the service intake person said after looking the car over the mechanic said it also needed ball joints and other parts for a total of $950. I got a second estimate at a nearby goodyear store for $ 700. Made an appointment. Went back to have the work done and after looking at the front end the mechanic said he would not put new parts on a car that doesn't need them. He greased the front end and sent me on my way. NO CHARGE! As for Pep Boys on US 1 in Fort Pierce,

I have an old Lexus and my AAA battery died. No one could open the hood. After 1 1/2 hours the repair team at the Tamarac Pep Boys on Commercial Blvd got the hood open, did an oil change and jump started the battery. They charged me $51! The dedication that Jamal B and his repair team have to the car is phenomenal. I would give them 6 stars if I could.
Thank you Jamal B!!! I have recommended Pep Boys Tamarac to two people.

I recently had my oil changed at Pep Boys on Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa as I usually do. I took my vehicle there today (As I usually do) for the service. The vehicle was serviced in minutes and several things happened that are very disturbing.
1. They did not even ask what I wanted for service (Full Synthetic, Half Synthetic?)
2. Upon completion if the service the tech drove my car out and parked it. He was full of sweat and in my drivers seat. No mask no gloves no regard at all for covid 19 safety.
3. The restroom in the shop was totally disgusting.
I paid alot of money for this service. I expect that Pep Boys would have some regard for my vehicle. It is very clear to me that Pep Boys has zero regard for Covid 19 safety as well as customer safety. I originally wrote this review on their internal website to give them a chance to address it. I received an email saying that my review did not meet their standards and would not be published. Well guess what Pep Boys your service and complete disregard for my safety does not meet my standards. I would recommend that anyone who reads this think twice before utilizing pep boys. I will not be going there again. I would strongly suggest that this company shut the doors and review there saferty procedures.

My appointment was at 10 to get my AC checked didn't get my car on the rack til 11. Once they finished at 1, all they said was you're good to go didn't tell me the diagnosis. When I arrived there I had some air, when I left I had none. I called back to ask what happened and they said I need a compressor. I'm trying to figure out what they did for it to stop completely. Customer service and scheduling of appointments is terrible. Not to mention how they pick up the phone and call people when they're checking you out. I have an account there but once its paid off I'm so done with Pep "bad" Boys in Foley Alabama.

I am a disabled veteran, with the most unimaginable experience I have ever had in my entire life. I had bought some brand new wheels for my car and wanted to get tires mounted on them. Seems simple enough right. Unfortunately my brand new wheels got damaged in the process after I was reassured that they won't be. Pep Boys fully accepted responsibility for the damages without hesitation but I have yet to receive reimbursement for the money I spent to get them fixed since November of 2019. I have called, emailed, and called some more. And all I get is a runaround. Stealing money from a customer should be a criminal offense, that should have fines and penalties attached to it. I'm not sure who can or will do anything about this but I wanted to let my fellow Veterans how they treated one of your own.

these guys are either con artists or just completely incompetent. the service guy tells me to replace the window tinting in just the back hatch to pass inspections, ok I did. returned the next day to finish my inspection so I get my tags updated. when I bring it in the mechanic tells me that the back hatch window was fine, that the side windows needed to be updated. I tried to explain to them that I was very detailed yesterday with the other guy asking if it's just the back window or the side window. he told me it's just the back window that needs replacing. I have no problem replacing the tint, if it needs to be done I'll get it done. but I spent $115.00 to replace a window tint that didn't need replacing. they said the guy I talked to was new and from SC and didn't know the NC state laws and he was still being trained. none the less, I moved here more than a year ago, and depend on "professionals" to guide me with local and state laws. all I asked for is for them to reimburse me for there mistake. I spent more than $115.00 on a window tint that I didn't need to because of there lack of "professionalism" so I'm out the $115.00 plus the $60.00 for the inspection for a total of $175.00. I will replace the other tint, I will get my car inspected, I will spend another $60 to have someone else inspect my car after I replace the tint. bottom line these guys are cons, scammers, or just incompetent. I contacted corporate HQ on Tuesday, have not heard a word from them, I have to keep calling them to see if there is any update. NOT A SINGLE CALL FROM THEM TO RESOLVE MY ISSUE FROM THE STORE OR FROM "HQ"

DO NOT RELY ON PEP BOYS
Damaged one alloy wheel on bad pave surface. Pep Boys had the correct wheel.
5 months 3 wheels still wrong fitment ,then after numerous emails like this
In order to ensure we send the correct bolt pattern for your vehicle, may you please provide us with the year, make, model, and engine size for your vehicle? We hope to hear from you soon as we would like to assist you with this in a timely manner.
I get a notification of a refund soon after the above email. Can't get correct wheel pattern due to trim of car ?? The bolt pattern is the same on all trim levels of my car ?
No reply after that.
Problem is Pep Boys are the only stockists of the brand of wheel I need. No concern of Pep Boys.
My advice - look elsewhere for your parts, they don't care and will leave you high and dry.

Horrible...many reviews just like my experience. They make an appointment for you, which ends up being meaningless as they do not honor it. Wasted TWO days waiting for service, even with an appointment, and ended up going elsewhere. The local manager at the Robinson Township PA store could not have cared less. When I wrote national PepBoys customer service they lied about leaving me a phone message. Do not give your business to PepBoys. They no longer deserve it. So sad what has happened to this once good company.

I dropped my car off at a 10 am appointment to replace a fog light. Headlights were working before repair but one headlight wasn't working after the repair. They denied that they broke it. I paid $39 for headlight repair on top of the $19 for fog light. The fog light repair took 1.5 hours to replace, but the new headlight took 5 minutes. I feel I got ripped off.

You have been warned. This is specifically the henrietta ny location . I made an appt. over a week in advance. They asked if it was a drop off or if I was waiting. I told them I was going to drop it off , then go do errands, go to the gym (LA fitness at end of road), then come back so I was not going to leave it there. This was wednesday jan. 08 and there were snow squalls. I walked to LA roughing it out. I took my time at the gym, then went to walmart . It took me 3 hours to do those 2 things. I had an emission issue and trouble with my inspection cause they had ripped off my sticker for a stupid small evap leak that I cant seem to fix. So, I figured I would give them some time at least to dig in there cause evap systems can be tough.
I went back to the shop to check on my car and they had not started it. I was LIVID. I asked for the manager and they wouldn't come out to talk to me. That totally blew my mind! I had trouble with them before and the way they schedule things and get you going is a disaster. I will be speaking to someone about this and hopefully that manager gets fired! The only reason I go there is cause i bought tires there and have lifetime rotation and alignment. I told them to just give me my keys and left, so I don't have any paperwork to show. I will NEVER go there again! I hope this prevents someone from making that mistake

Went in for tire replacements, something supposed to be painless considering the level of expertise they claim.
First, they returned me the car later although it was apparently working. Note: they didn't even have the good grace to put the spare tire back at its place.
After two days, while driving on the highway I started to feel vibrations coming from the passenger side front tire.
I went back to the same station which did the job of the tires. it came out that the RX front CV axle was damaged (??!!).
Question: do you replace 4 tires, list an endless amount of check and sets and you do not notice a worn-out axle? Or you didn't do the job properly?
I agreed to provide aftermarket parts to speed up the job, and of course, they came back that the parts were not right although they were cherry-picked from the vendor. This added 2 days of delay with the job completion.
After the axle was installed, they claimed that a socket was damaged. 1 additional day.
after a profound apology of the so-called "store manager", I was supposed to get my car back today which of course didn't happen.
On top of everything the almost unexisting level of communication not only within the team but towards the customer also. To get an update I always had to call every day.
Save your time and money.
