This place is horrible. If you want something and it's not in the store don't order it otherwise you will wait months to receive it... poor customer service, all you will get is lies... We are half a step away from a lawsuit with these people. Avoid them if you can go to Grainger supply

I had never shopped at Northern Tool despite their having come to my home city some time ago. I'm looking for a small power hoist for lifting the convertible hard top off of my Jeep. They show the 220/440 lb. cheap Chinese winch online for $94.99 but when I arrived at the store the price was $114.99. They refused to match the online price saying that the item number had changed. This was a complete waste of time. This cheap Chinese winch is literally sold under ten or more brand names online so I'm just buying the exact same winch from Amazon for $90. Don't waste your time with these folks.

I tried purchasing a Milwaukee tool that was in stock at the time of the order. After over a week I tried checking the status of the order and could find nothing. After waiting on hold for a very long time, I was told plainly and unsympathetically that the item was a special order and that the 'manufacturer' declared it obsolete. If you go online, they are still offering the item, except for a higher price tag. The customer service is just terrible. No notice for the cancelled order, and absolutely no recourse. I will never buy from Northern Tool for my business. Thanks for wasting my time.

we normally do not have problems when we order through EBAY However Northern Tools has tied up our money for 20 days so far .... We sent them 3 messages no response...called Customer Service ( now that's what I call for an oxymoron ) the three calls included over an hour and a half on hold each with BS story Do yourself a favor avoid this company and when using EBAY be sure to check the feedback especially the negative...Hopefully you will avoid the pain & suffering we are going through

I ordered a hitch for my vehicle and realized shortly after ordering it that it would not fit my application. I attempted to call to cancel the order but was on hold for extended time. After about 20 min I send an email to the customer service email that was included in my order email. After a few hours of no response, I called and waited on hold until I was able to get through. The person I talked to said they couldn't help because they were in sales and I needed to call customer service (which I thought I had just done!). I called again and waited on hold for another 20 min and finally got through to a customer service agent. He said the item had not shipped but could not be canceled because it was too far along in process. I asked if they could at least cover return shipping given the delays in response from customer service. He said they were very busy and it was my fault for placing the order to begin with. Never again will I order from these guys.

Northern Tool Henrico on Broad Street Richmond VA: I bought a General Inverter Generator online from Generac. Bought withing year never opened until i lost power. It was rainy and very humid but followed the directions and it would not start so I called Generac 800 and they had me do the same several times. Never said may be flooded just told me to bring it into Northern Tool ...they charged me 40 and DID NOTHING BUT START IT first try. Since Generac had me try several times it likely flooded But Northern would not budge on the 40 fee said flooded is not covered by warranty and although they did nothing but start it and even after I called they refused to budge. Told him i wanted speak to supervisor and he hemmed and hawed and then said it takes time to write it up so I told him i will just write a review everywhere i can and that they( Northern Tool) has POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. He said it takes time to write these things up..my guess is he spend 5 minutes at most so that's $480.00 hour SOUNDS LIKE A RIP OFF for doing nothing

Placed an order for a set of power tools, got the order confirmation email and have waited a week and still haven't gotten another email to state that the item has shipped. Called customer service to only sit on hold for 30 minutes before a representative tells me "it should ship today" I asked how he knew that and all he could tell me is that "we're just behind on orders, it's processing and should be shipped out today" the item was supposed to arrive today and hasn't even shipped. If the company is behind and/or having delays they shouldn't guarantee 4-6 day shipping!

Northern tool at crown point... Don't try to explain anything to repairmen or the assistant manager. They will totally disregard any suggestions and do what they want. If you insist they get things wright the assistant manager will ask you to leave and take your business elsewhere.

Just got back from Northern Tool over on 290. Oh, WOW.... Some long haired, brunette, female who works there (manager????) came storming down the isle to us, raising her voice at my husband and I, treating us as if we were shop lifting - "YOU NEED TO LEAVE THE STORE IMMEDIATELY!!! NOW!!!" Seriously, those were her first words out. Not 'hi' or 'sorry to tell you'...or 'did you not see our sign?'... But - "YOU NEED TO LEAVE...!!!". We've never been so humiliated. I get her concern - we were not wearing masks, we DID NOT KNOW of the recent Harris county ORDER to wear masks in public as we were on our way home from two counties over where we have a ranch with livestock to look after, and had forgotten to take our masks with us from another vehicle. The last we knew, it was SUGGESTED we should wear masks and is why we entered the store without them. The county we had just come from - some people had them, some didn't. We were NEVER, at any time, verbally warned or notified of the store rule when we FIRST entered the store by ANYONE. Which means we were not greeted, or acknowledged, by anyone working in the FRONT (and absolutely should have been), or anyone 'helping' in the isles as we spent several minutes trying to find what we were looking for and get out of there. So we had been in there a while before this was the very first time we had been told, and in this manner. Are you kidding me???!! We were practicing social distancing. This female was absolutely harsh and disrespectful not caring who heard her throughout the store, because everyone could. It was horribly embarrassing and unnecessary. We would have been glad to leave, she only needed to be polite, which would have gone a long way, directing her comments to us only, in a calm voice, which surprisingly should be expected anyway in good customer service when handling difficult situations. Does Northern Tool NOT require this? That alone separates managers who excel and mediocre managers. We are in our 70's so not beyond appreciating some extra help or understanding. Just to clarify, I had looked for signs on first entering the store for any guidelines, as most stores now have some sort of guidelines posted. There were none that clearly said at quick read, 'MASKS REQUIRED'. None whatsoever! What there was, as I looked leaving the store to see what we missed, was some long blah blah about the virus, and at the BOTTOM in the SAME FONT as the rest of the print mind you, it said - 'therefore we are requiring masks to be worn....' Seriously??? What happened to a simple to read - 'MASKS REQUIRED???' There. I fixed it! Give me a freakin' break. We had planned on spending big money. I know we didn't have masks on, but was it our age? Our race? Why treated so very harsh?? She chose not to help clarify the situation in a manner that was inviting to come back. One thing for sure, we choose not be back under that kind of management. That style of welcome is not needed.

I needed a replacement pressure washer motor for my home use unit. It was 420 CC engine. Northern tool had sent me a flyer and their price was less than Harbor Freight with the best coupon. I decided to go to my local store number 555 in Madison Tennessee to buy the engine. I called ahead and spoke with Frank who assured me they had some in stock and to ask for him when I go to the store. I went to the store and sure enough I found Frank and he got an engine for me. He explained that it was the cheapest one they had and they only sold it to Complete with Harbor Freight. Being that it was the cheapest one they sold and was only a 500 hour rated engine he suggested the $79.99 extended warranty. I let him do his spiel and took the sheet of paper but I had no intentions of buying it. Frank brought the engine to the register for me on a cart. When I got To the register, Gabi my sales associate, asked to see what the paper was. I told her it was an extended warranty that I did not want to buy. She said she still wanted to see it. I obliged and gave her the paper. She explained that they did not have a return policy on gasoline engines even if they were still in the box. That once I went out the door with it it was mine and I could not return it. I was unsure if it would fit my application exactly as I hadn't taken the pressure washer apart yet. I ended up buying a $49.99 one year extended warranty so that if I was wrong I could at least bring it back. She completed the sale and then told me my Engine would be in soon. I explained to her it was sitting on a cart in front of me. She said she thought it was a special order because the white piece of paper is what special orders look like. She asked a nearby manager how to cancel the sale and they explained that she would have to email them so that it could be refunded. The only way to move forward was to re-run the sale again. I chose to do this on my credit card instead of my debit card so I wouldn't tie up so much money. She said my money will be refunded tomorrow and it's not that big a deal. She said she was sorry for the mistake but that working two jobs was really getting to her. I used my credit card to purchase the engine and went home. I watched the charges and both of them cleared on both cards. The following Tuesday I returned to the store and spoke with the manager who had told her to email the issue to them. The manager was helpful and said she would go email again right that moment and she did. I waited until Friday, a week from my original purchase, to call the store again. Who should answer the phone but Gabi! I Explained who I was and asked her if she remembered the sell and could find out the status of my refund. I reminded her that she told me I would get my money back tomorrow. She explained that sometimes with larger amounts it took longer to get a refund. I asked her to quantify what a larger amount was. She said over $250. I suggested that maybe I should call my credit card company and explain to them that it was a fraudulent charge so I could get my refund in a more timely manner. This agitated Gabi a great deal and she said that their company did not steal for me. I explained that I had Never accused them of theft I just thought it might be a method to get my refund in a more timely manner. I thanked her again for her help and I hung up. This problem would not have occurred had she just listened to me in the first place when I was in line instead of making assumptions. I have yet to get a solid answer about how to get my money back. These employees must get some compensation for up selling warranties. I should have gone to Harbor Freight. I never intend to do business with Northern TOOL again in my lifetime.

I recently purchased a fire pit lid from northern tool the first one came in anf UPS did not do such a good job it was banged up. However they send a replacement. Although it was during the covid-19 pandemic but they still send me the replacement at a relatively short time . period.
The customer service was very courteous and nice. I plan to purchase more items soon.
100% better than the stuff made in China and you're never sure if you ever going to get anything after you paid.
I recommend this to all my friends and family.

They advertised a promotion for Milwaukee lights. I placed 2 orders I was charged and was told that it would be shipped in couple days. I heard nothing from them, called 6 times and was told my order will ship soon. Even had one customer service worker hang up on me after I asked a simple question. When I called today they told me they canceled my order even after I was told it would ship Monday. I will never buy from them again.

I purchased a portable air compressor from Northern. It's the one with the GX 390 Honda engine, 30 gallon tank, 175 PSI compressor. Extremely impressive unit. Works excellent. I have no problem with the product. The problem I have is with the customer service representatives. I had a problem with what is called the unloader valve on the compressor. This valve is responsible for cutting the engine out at the high-pressure and cutting it back in at the low set pressure. They sent me a new one. The pressures were not set correct On the new valve. I called and asked how to adjust it. They told me no adjustment was not necessary. If they told me they would have a liability issue and could not tell me how to adjust it. They had to send me out a new one. The new one was the same way. I called back again and talked with another representative. I told him in order to install this valve a particular portion of it had to be removed for clearance to get the valve screwed in. He told me that was not necessary. Well I consider myself a professional with 40 years experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems and this is the third valve I have put in on this unit. Again he tells me I'm mistaken. I asked him if he'd like me to send him a photograph or even a video to show him the clearance issue. He bocked and said no. I said fine send me out another valve. No because you disassembled the valve. No I did not disassemble a valve I unscrewed one part of it. Absolutely not a disassembly, similar to taking the oil filter off of your automobile. I marked the part meticulously so it will go on exactly as it came off. Pretty strange that both valves kicked out at the same exact incorrect PSI? Conversation ended with him saying I'm on my own nothing he can do if I want to bring it to a service center I could feel free to do so at my own expense. Compressor has less than 50 hours on it. I was a northern fan as I have plenty of their products including two generators, one 3000 psi pressure washer and 175 PSI air compressor. Never again. I ended up adjusting the valve myself with success. No thanks to the Northern Tool service department.

The worst customer service and experience here. I ordered a fast framer kit on May 4th and they send me a letter on May 19th tell me that my credit card did not go through due to their error but at the same time sending me an invoice as if it was shipped. The website is horrendous to deal with along with waiting over an hour to talk to anyone

Northern Tool has Mediclean in stock for $137.00 which is priced at 4 times the regular retail price found any place else. I called them and specifically asked if this price was for a case or a single bottle, and they confirmed it being for a single bottle. This country is scrambling for assistance and Northern Tool is seeing to it that the can screw over anybody for the sake of getting their money. I will NEVER do business with scum like Northern Tool. They get zero stars from me.

River is a customer service rep. that took over a problem I have with FedEx, a jack ordered from Northern Tool on 11/25/19. I know this time of year is also time to be patient. I understand what they go through having a son that works for UPS. Because of this I gave them 2 weeks past the first delivery date for more than enough time to catch up. River called me back and said she didn't think she was FedEx's best friend anymore but I knew that meant she was taking care of me, her customer. River is one of the most friendly, professional Customer Care professionals I have ever worked with. Doing everything she could to get a delivery to happen. Although FedEx called her back almost immediately promising delivery by the end of day 12/13, they did not show up. I saw the truck on my street over the weekend but passed by my home. River and a co-worker that I'm sorry I don't have his name, are both on it now. I'm impressed with River and hope she is recognized as an exceptional employee. As a retail manager myself, it's this kind of person that represents the company to the customer when things aren't always so smooth. She makes Northern Tool a better company. Thank you River!

I ordered a set of electronic ear muffs. The specifications were confirmed with Northern Tool customer service prior to ordering. I specifically stated I was interested in Bluetooth compatible ones. They assured me that the info on their website was accurate. The price was good, so I went ahead and ordered.
After receiving my order it was pretty clear that the muffs did not have Bluetooth (no instructions in the manual for this feature). I talked to NT and they said I must be mistaken and basically threw me over the fence to the manufacturer. They insisted the manufacturer maintained this specific webpage in question. After going back and forth with the manufacturer it was confirmed that these were not BT ear muffs. The manufacturer also was not sure why NT was advertising them as such.
Back to NT. Customer service said I could exchange them for a set of muffs that had all the same specs +BT (basically what was advertised), but I now would have to pay them $20 more. So $20 more to get what they were advertising in the first place. I declined. They then offered to swap them for ear muffs that were $40 cheaper (with much less features). I declined this "solution" as well and opted for a refund.
Refund took several weeks.
I removed myself from their mailing list & took them off the approved vendor list at work.

Horrible to deal with. Ordered an axle which arrived 2 days later than they stated. Spring mounts were missing and neither threaded end of the axle was covered. Left in the dirt by the shipper. Ordered on June 24th arrived July 2nd. Customer service was notified about the missing pieces on July 2nd. Zero response when I called over and over for an update and notification that they received my pictures.
Finally after 15 phone calls and a complaint to the president of the company they called me back on July 11th and told me the axle manufacturer couldn't find any request from Nothern to send out the parts and they would be sent that day.
July 16th I received notice from the axle manufacturer Dexter that the part would arrive on the 18th. Thanks AL the president and the rest of the company for the worst purchasing experience I have ever had. I see how you have earned a 2.2 review on Google.
