I bought a beautifully manufactured & installed solid oak and glass staircase. The installers and French polisher were all very professional. The finished product looks amazing. A little expensive but then you get what you pay for and I certainly have no regrets at buying from Neville Johnson. Definitely a quality product.

The quality of the Neville Johnson product is first class - this is our third order with them. Design and survey was good, the fitter was excellent. The only thing that stops me giving them five stars is that the scheduling of the work left a lot to be desired and my request for the job to be done in two stages - made three months ahead of the expected fitting date - was just ignored.

WE found Neville Johnson very professional from start to finish.
The salesman came on time and discussed with us our requirement to replace the staircase. The quote was given and the price was set. . The surveyor also came on time and spent all morning taking measurements . Through out the procedure the office kept us informed of progress. The Fitters came at 8.00am and fitted the staircase in one day working without breaks.
I can recommend this company.

We're in the process of getting initial staircase quotes, and I have to say I can't ever remember in my entire lifetime having being treated so poorly. After the N.J rep arrived she took a brief look at the staircase and quite rudely informed us that there was a minimum order as though we had wasted her time coming over, this proved not to be an issue when the N.J rep saw the full nature of the job. However I have to say from start to finish we found her to be over-bearing, personal and downright unkind. On reflection I wish I'd asked her to leave.
We've just moved into our house, it's a lovely, very old 4 storey property and I'm proud if it, however she behaved as if it was all too much trouble because what we wanted was a traditional staircase and much of the N.J styles are contemporary.
Her visit has left a long lasting stain these 3 weeks later, and I honestly wouldn't recommend them.

Neville Johnson have just finished installing a new study and dressing room in our house. We took about two years pontificating over it because it was a fairly substantial price, but we ultimately decided it would be a worthwhile investment. We are delighted with the result. Both rooms look stunning and really finish things off nicely in the house which we have just finished remodelling. The Neville Johnson team have been great, their workmanship is exceptional, and the quality of the furniture is top class.

I am delighted with my new furniture; it looks beautiful. I am really pleased with the whole experience from my initial phone call to request a brochure, through the design process, the survey and installation. The advice given by the designer and surveyor was really helpful. The furniture is beautifully made and I cannot praise enough the quality, professionalism and courtesy of the installer who worked solidly to complete the job in one day. He covered every area he worked in and hoovered up afterwards.

I cannot praise Neville Johnson highly enough.
The whole process of renovating our staircase was flawless from first contact to completion. Everyone we dealt with was courteous, knowledgeable in their field and very professional.
The fitters were highly skilled craftsmen who completed the job quickly and efficiently without any unnecessary disturbance to decoration. There was no mess to clear up after they had left.
The materials used were top quality. I cannot find any negative comment to make.

We had a wall-to-wall unit fitted in our tv room. The room isn't large, so I didn't want anything too overpowering with shelves up to the ceiling. I also wanted something modern. The designer came up with a fantastic idea based on a couple of different designs I had seen in the brochure. He came back on a Saturday, so my husband could be there to finalise the design. The surveyor was very helpful in tweaking a couple of things prior to build. The 2 fitters were very hard working, polite and tidy. I am so pleased with the finished product. I would definitely use Neville Johnson again. My only criticism was I had to chase the office for the samples I requested, only a small negative in the grand scheme of things. Mrs H, TN15

I am very pleased for everyone here who have received five-star service from Neville Johnson but it leaves me wondering why they are giving me three-star service. Is it because I am spending only £6,000 while five-star customers pay more?
After waiting two months, my single piece of furniture was installed on 31 July but they short-manufactured a side panel.
Would you believe that they have decided to wait until 16th August to manufacture it? And wait another four days until 20th August for installation? They bluntly refused to expedite it to correct their error, holding us to ransom. It's all about THEIR timetable, not ours. We are working to a project time table that cannot afford another three weeks delay.
If this company was worth its reputation they would have manufactured and installed it within hours rather than weeks.
I am therefore unable to recommend this company to friends and family as variable reviews here show a track record of inconsistent quality of service. Further ideas that my wife and I had for other installations will now go to another company.
This is because the quality of customer service and the way in which errors are resolved, for us, is significantly more important than the quality of the product. Neville Johnson has fallen short.

To set the context for this review NJ have previously installed two home offices for me, one in a previous house and now in our current home, both completed without fuss and excellent work.
We wanted a fitted wardrobe in the bedroom and the designer/sales guy came out promptly and came up with a design we were happy with. He quoted a premium price but we knew that would be the case. Then out came the surveyor, and he completed his job ok.
Then total radio silence....The install date came and went without a peep from NJ. Eventually we anaged to speak to the sales guy and they said there was a "technical issue".
Utter tosh, they had simply got their maths wrong and under-quoted I think, but nonetheless they will not install, and despite having taken 2 payments (2/3 of the total amount) they still will not contact us to discuss and sort out...
Very poor customer service when issues arise. I think the courts may be the next step to get our money back...

The product detail was explained at every step and the staircase we agreed on has met with all our expectations.

Having had a home office fitted and been delighted about 10 years ago, i did not look elsewhere when wanting a large lounge unit fitted this year. i ordered in May and was given mid June installation date. I called a week before having heard nothing to be told that they could not meet that date as a mix up in their office meant that the construction had been removed from the manufacture schedule and placed at the back meaning i could not have installation until Mid August. No Alternative, could not place back in the original delivery spot.
The SINGLE installer (His partner had left and he had no help) arrived on due date and installed but made a mistake that meant someone would have to come back to correct. I advised within 48 hours. I was offered no alternatives but given a date of 13th September around 22nd August.
Last week 26th I received a call to add to the 100 previous apologies and to say that they could not now do the work until the end of September. I said this was unacceptable for family reasons and they must meet the agreed date. So original completion date of 14th July now extended to end of September if I am lucky
i heard no more until today 4 days before the agreed date when i received a call to say that they could not meet that date. the lady also admitted that this was to meet their schedules. Nothing to do with anything ecept it ws inconvenient to them
i am convinced that both delays are due to the fact that we are in West Wales and they have no nearby work in the area. They are great at apologizing but it is clear it is not meant and service from them in other areas the customer has to work hard to get. They just do not care
in conclusion they do not care about the client once they have the order and the first 2 depositsnand it is all about Neville Johnson and never the customer. I would if you want any service look elsewhere. Check other complaints about them on this site

From the start of the process Neville Johnson staff were on the ball.
The planning was detailed and clear with excellent drawings. People did what they promised and on time. Different departments communicate well with each other and kept us informed.
We requested a week's delay because of other work in our house not being completed on time. This was accommodated with no issues.
The quality of the components in the staircase and the workmanship have been first class, subsequently admired by family & friends.
My wife and I are very satisfied with our new staircase.

I am surprised by the number of reviews that say it exceeds their expectations. My newly renovated staircase is absolutely exquisite, and that’s what I expected for the money it cost. There is no doubt that NJ is an expensive option. In some ways it is difficult to justify, even when you recognise the high overheads that they must have to support such an operation. However, the company in no way is oppressive in its sales techniques. We at no time felt in any way compelled to buy, and everything, including all costs, was made quite clear before we took the decision.
The whole of our process was smooth from the start. We had an approximate installation date when we signed up and that was fixed after the survey. We did have a call from NJ two days before installation to delay by one day. This was acceptable – things can always go wrong. We subsequently found out from our fitters that it was due to another team having an illness problem. Not sure what would have happened if we had said we couldn’t accept a delay, but the request was not unreasonable.
Another thing that impressed us was that we sent for the brochure as soon as we became interested. When the salesman called (almost immediately) to ask for an appointment we accepted. When he came we explained up front that I had to go into hospital and there was no way that we were going to take any decisions at that time. He accepted this and still did all the measuring up and gave us an estimated cost. He left with a “don’t call us, we’ll call you”. I fully expected to be contacted weekly or monthly, but no. No pressure at all. When we were ready to go ahead we contacted the salesman and he came again. This was one of the reasons we chose to go ahead – real customer service and respect of the customer.
The two fitters arrived bang on time and worked really hard for two days. I hope they got paid well by NJ. They were the key to the success of the project.
We were warned up front, in the documentation, and again by the fitters that they would not be responsible for making good (plasterwork etc). This is reasonable because if they carried out any of that work, when would it stop? It took me a couple of hours with some polyfilla and decorators caulk to fill all the little gaps. The fitter, however, did warn me that removing the old newel posts fitted into the wall can sometimes cause a large amount of damage. Luckily this didn’t happen in our case, but it would have been repairable anyway, and we were warned.
Altogether we are very pleased with our new stairs and friends are very complimentary (as is my son who is a joiner by trade). I still have to stop myself thinking “did this really cost so much” when coming down the stairs – but I do really think it was (just about) worth it.

Our experience at the moment is shockingly poor!
The quality of the final result may end up being really good and the signs are there, BUT...
The 3 days scheduled for the installation were characterised by good engineers trying their best to sort out a shambles created by the warehouse and hopeless project management. It means that our work is about 70% complete. All caused by terrible attention to detail by NJ.
Part of the reason why we paid a premium price was to avoid exactly this type of terrible service. I will post further when I see how NJ respond to a shockingly poor performance so far. After that it will be a full on attempt to ensure that anybody using NJ in the future knows of our experience before they buy.

3 Stars at a push!
2 Stars for the professional designer who came out and the extra star awarded for the efforts put in to displays and brochure/literature.
But the minus 2 stars for the shear overpriced quotes that come back from this company. 2 other well respected companies quoted HALF of what Neville Johnson quoted. They can say it’s based on quality all day long, but some of their reviews beg to differ.
If I am paying the price they are charging just for a small staircase on this occasion I would hope the wood is some exclusive oak only found on some secluded oak tree on the top of mount paradise and blessed by Moses.
But someone must be paying the prices! Thanks all the same.

Yes the staircase I got was expensive,but it’s a case of you get what you pay for.the staircase was excellent and very good quality.
The workman arrived at 07:30 and worked all day for 3 days until it was finished.when finished I checked it all and was very pleased with the end result.
