The company makes it nearly impossible to cancel a subscription. They auto-renew a subscription, but inform you this via an email a month before which goes into junk folder. They don't refund your money. They also force you to provide your data and make it difficult to opt out. Their business practices should be illegal.

I purchased a year ago and realised after a day that I no longer need the subscription as was not actually suitable for me so tried to cancel within the 30 day window but they wouldn't give me a refund. I asked their customer service operator to cancel my account and this year have just now been billed another £39.99 with the auto-renew.
I deleted the app and have never touched it since purchasing and there was no email reminding me to cancel 24h before (as mentioned on their website anyway!) (despite me asking customer service to cancel it for me on purchase). And so I have now had £80 non-refundable practically stolen from me. Terrible customer service and do not recommend.

I really wanted to like this app, but it quite simply does not work. The algorithm is terrible and could find no pattern to my cycle or target my ovulation, despite 3 months of entering data every single day, first thing in the morning. What a colossal waste of time. Also, i was disappointed by the customer service, which would not refund me a repeat charge for the subscription.

I tired this app for four months as I really wanted it to work, but I work different shifts each day so I wake up at different times which gave me different temperature readings resulting in me literally getting a couple of green days a month and they were only while I was on my period. I do believe that it’s a good app and it does work. But only if you are waking up at the same time each day, so not for everyone.

Please don't use this unless you're in a situation where you wouldn't mind getting pregnant. I measured my temperature religiously and I did really enjoy getting to know my cycle. I decided to stop using the app on my fourth month when it predicted my ovulation and gave me green days, only to update the graph a couple of weeks later with the correct ovulation date. I wish I could say my experience of Natural Cycles finished there but unfortunately for me it was too late. Left feeling very lost, naïve and not at all supported.

I fell pregnant within 3 months of using the app. Then they the audacity to ask me for all this private information, taking time out of my to inform their studies after declining a refund that I requested 3 days after the app renewed. Excuse me, I was running around spending my time and money to see a doctor to find out if I’m pregnant. My apologies for not canceling in time.
This is ridiculous and unacceptable! I now have to spend close to a $1000 to avoid having a child I didn’t plan for. Thanks for the extra cost and no support!

I also had sex on a green day and fell pregnant. I was devastated and ended up having an abortion which has been the most traumatic thing that has ever happened to me. It was not a decision made lightly. Fast forward a year and I was charged again for the horrible app even though I’d cancelled it. (Obviously not in time.) They still email and I’ve asked again and again to be removed off their list. This time I threatened court action if they don’t stop mailing me. It’s very bad taste after what I feel has been a bereavement. I also cancelled my debit card to prevent the subscription from continuing.

No customer helpline and don’t forget to read the small print - has cost me another £50.00 this year as I didn’t know I had to cancel a year later. As I hadn’t use the app in 7 months had completely forgotten about it.
Tried to email and it bounced back.
My advice is don’t bother - I had “use contraception” - with hardly any “green day” - after 5 months of religiously taking my temperature.

Had unprotected sex on my final green day of the month and got pregnant. Fast forward a year and I’m still dealing with PTSD and depression following an unwanted termination due to my partner not being ready to have a child. Absolutely not worth the risk if you are trying to prevent pregnancy. The statistics and information I read up on Natural Cycles following my pregnancy horrified me.

I have persevered with Natural cycles for a full 6 months but have started back on the pill today. I am married and trying to use it prevent pregnancy. I gave up the pill about 1.5 years ago and was upset to see how long it took for my periods to get back to normal, therefore wanted to use a form of birth control without hormones.
Despite the fact I am married and living a relatively 'quiet' life I found it very difficult to get enough green days. I really tried with taking my temperature properly, however I travel for business, holidays and I go out with clients a lot for work meaning that it was difficult to get enough decent readings. I can see how this would work for someone who goes to bed at the same time every night always in their own bed, and never drinks, but unfortunately for me it did not work.

autorenewed my contract despite not being able to open the app to cancel. Tried multiple times on several devices. what a scam.

Thermometer broke after only 4 months of use. Way too expensive for the shady and unreliable algorithm behind the app. It tells you that your ovulation date was found but then afterwards changes the ovulation time to another day. Additionally, the app set ovulation on one particular day eventhough 7 other days next to it had exactly the same temperature or even higher!!!! How on earth should you trust that result when ovulation should specifically elevate your body temperature compared to other days. Very disappointing and I regret wasting my money on this.

Natural cycles as a product is innovative and relevant to many women. Shame about the abominable customer service, which leaves one wondering whether you can actually trust something as important as your reproductive health and fertility to a company that hires a call centre full of woeful incompetents. The company's other purpose (uncompensated and widespread and highly intimate data collection on an international scale) is also somewhat questionable, of course, but that is another story.
The Natural Cycles' customer service team is the most inflexible I have ever come across.
My first issue involved the difficulty of paying for the product via iTunes (there were no other ways to pay at the time). Here I encountered various system errors that you might expect from a relatively new company. Annoying, but not the end of the world.
The second issue involved a Black Friday sale, in which I bought a product from their shop not realising that the cost of postage from Sweden to the UK (10 euros) would render the cost of the item twice what I would pay in the UK. I contacted the customer service team to cancel within minutes of my order. I was contacted on Monday and told that no one had been in the office to process my request and that, since the product had already been despatched, it would cost more to return it than to absorb the cost of the item. This struck me as poor judgement on their part. Why antagonise an otherwise satisfied and loyal customer? However, I decided to let it go.
The final straw came when Natural Cycles sent me a reminder email, informing me that I needed to renew my subscription and offering me a "deal". I signed up for the deal, soon realising that my subscription had not in fact lapsed and that the deal represented an annual cost three times that which I had paid when I signed up. When I raised the matter with Olivia, from the customer services team, I was told that she had cancelled my unused subscription but that she could not find my existing account.
A month later, I found that I had been charged for the first month of the subscription I did not need or use. I queried this with Olivia and was told :
"As the subscription gives you access to the Services (which are digital and not provided via a physical medium) instantaneously after the purchase, Natural Cycles does not offer a right of return (such as refunding the subscription fee)." Since I had told them I already had a subscription, any decent customer service response would have taken that into account and not implicitly accused me of trying to steal their services.
To dent my trust in Natural Cycles even further, Olivia informed me that she still could not find my existing Natural Cycles account, despite my having provided over four types of personal validation info.
What this boils down to is that when I make a mistake with my order, Natural Cycles tell me that I must bear the consequence. However, when their computer system cannot find my account and thus sends me an incorrect reminder, they are unwilling to treat others as they would wish to be treated and to take responsibility for their mistake.
I recognise that Natural Cycles is a relatively small company and that any company can make mistakes. All that is needed is an apology and a refund. However a quick scan of their facebook page reveals that I am not alone in my frustration with their ability to level false bank charges at its previous, or even existing (as in my case), customers. Not only are they charging customers erroneously, but they are entirely unapologetic. Even if this is, by some bizarre logic, legal, it is morally wrong, it represents bad customer service and reflects badly on the image of a seemingly friendly and understanding company.
Finally, on the issue of data collection, I do wonder how many people have, without realising the potential risks, signed away their personal, reproductive data to what I can currently only conclude is a highly suspect and amoral outfit.
I do hope that I am wrong, but so far have only received further proof of their disregard for the human beings they are claiming to serve.

Well, I’m pregnant despite having seriously followed the instructions and taking correctly my morning temperature... Apparently the app is unable to predict irregular cycles or any little variation! Be careful girls, obviously it doesn’t work every time!

I am loving using this to prevent pregnancy. I’ve beem using this for over a year and it’s helped my truley understand my body, my cycle, my skin, my cravings, my mood swings! Yes you need to be commited and careful with the data entry as well any additional data like LH tests so it’s not for woman who don’t have a settled and structured life. I’d also say it’s only suitable for woman who if they fell pregnant it wouldn’t be a terrible thing and result in some heartbreaking decisions. This is something the creators of natural cycles said in an interview. Overall the freedom is gives me and the end to all the hormones I used to pump into my body (not to mention the regular trips to family planning which I hated) makes the effort worth it.

I have used this app for almost a year now. I would never trust this for a form of contraception. It is extremely unreliable. I have had messages scaring me on several occasions telling me I could be pregnant, the app changes its mind whenever it suits from red days to green days. It requires you to take your temperature at the same time every morning or it is unreliable.. You can't have a cold or anything else. Realistically, who can do that? A very small part of the population . I was told this by customer services themselves when I complained. It miscalculates when my period is, different parts of my cycle ( I can feel when I ovulate) and I have NEVER had a positive ovulation test from the times they advise me to take one. Short of taking one everyday (more expense given their ovulation tests are astronomical in price) the whole thing is unreliable. I think it's a small miracle I haven't been pregnant in the last year. I WILL NOT be renewing my subscription.

I've been using this app for 17 cycles now to prevent pregnancy and I love it! I have learnt so much about my body. We've always been told that you can get pregnant on any day which is just fear-mongering. It turns out there's only 6 days a cycle in which you can. I love being able to tell when I've ovulated and when my period is coming due to temperature changes. If you follow all of the rules and are committed to the method - it works. Keep in mind that all contraceptive methods have failure rates so don't let the stories of unplanned pregnancies put you off as the same amount of women will have those stories from the pill etc! Get hormone free - it feels amazing!

The app itself is a great idea, and just didn't work for me. So I stopped using, not even logged in to the app. Then, months later - now the renewal email stuck in my spam - and £40 taken out of my account. For a company who claims "Customer Support is the Heart of our company" I've found the tone, content, and reaction to an honest mistake late cancellation email from me to them completely unacceptable - Likewise the fact that, as an app, they KNOW I've not used their product for over 6 months - but an auto renewal felt OK?? Regardless of whatever T&C I've seen, this just feels not very "modern subscription". How about building a business on a strong product that customers love not renewals (and revenue) based on those who are trapped into a subscription?
I will consider changing this review if I get any customer support that feels appropriate for 2018.

I used this as a contraceptive for a year, using contraception on the red days etc.. I was happy with it, until I got pregnant. On a green day! I was absolutely heart broken and ended up going through the trauma of an abortion. Turns out my ovulation date was a week before the apps prediction! I found no way to report the pregnancy within the app or on their website and the whole thing it has left me shattered. If there's no way to report an issue how can they be sure this is working?!

I love it!
Have been using this for 6 months now, and it made my life so much better - no hormones, just my own natural cycle and lots of sexual pleasure (really, physical feelings of pleasure enhanced due to removal of excess hormones from contraceptive pills) . BUT I really do believe that one needs to be in a permanent relationship and that one has to have a regular circadian rhythm, for this product to work correctly. And of course one has to be strict and play by the rules. Would certainly but cautiously recommend it.

I knew something was wrong when they sent me a message within the first month of using the app: the thermometer they had given me was defective, and it was giving wrong readings (warning 1: they thermometers have poor quality control). Following that "small" mistake, I started reading how this app is not as efficient it claims to be. I stopped using this method and I completely forgot about the app. I was billed for another year because when you sign up you authorize to get billed automatically. I politely contacted Natural Cycles and asked them to cancel my account and give me at least a partial refund. They declined in the rudest of ways. They may have my money, but I hope they don't get yours.

I purchased the thermostat only to find out after I went to purchase the annual payment plan I would receive it for free.
Contacted customer care, thinking they can refund the difference. Nope, instead I get the below unhelpful response.
Thank you for getting in touch with us. If you choose to purchase a thermometer separately from our Yearly subscription, you can later on just press “NO” when asked if you need a thermometer when signing up.
The price of the thermometer is not deducted from the Yearly Subscription price if you do not need one. It is merely a free gift for any user who doesn’t already own a basal thermometer.
I had to ask for a resolution in which they then gave me another email template pedantic response and they will give me 4 months worth of subscription, no refund just extend the subscription which doesnt even cover the price of the thermometer.
They have no contact number, its all done via email. Terrible customer service.
