I responded to a trial of a face cream I have seen advertised by Cindy Crawford. In this ad that I responded to, they used photos of Jennifer Aniston. The deal was $4.50 for a one-month supply of the cream with the option of buying more "at a greatly reduced price". While checking out, it was impossible to do so unless you also agreed to pay $3.95 for eye cream and $1.95 for a weekly newsletter. Immediately after placing my order, a woman called to ask for my security code on my debit card. I became suspicious as I did enter it into the site which said it was secure. I started asking questions and found that if you didn't return a portion of the unused product within 18 days, they would charge you $83.00 for the face cream and $96.00 for the eye cream. And continue to send both products monthly for those prices! I went to my email after talking to that agent and found several intimidating emails, including a website and password, the use of which would constitute an agreement to their contract. None of this was mentioned in the initial ad, no mention of emails to review. They even reserved the right to charge you for the product even if you didn't get it if " their sources" said it was sent. It was so misleading and sneaky. I did finally get through to an agent, one who handles several of this company's products, told him to cancel my order, asked for a refund of the $10.00 and some cents they had already billed me, called my bank first thing, and had to get a new debit card. It was very inconvenient and, in my opinion, a cleverly constructed scam. I asked the name of the business, he said it was just natural ceramides, though the email said the charges would appear as "face cream" and "eye cream" on my debit card. My attempt to contact them via their support email address was permanently blocked. That just doesn't sound right to me. The agent said they would return my money after offering me the same monthly delivery at a greatly reduced rate, which I refused. I cannot or don't know how to provide you with the emails I received.
