I received a call from someone claiming to be collecting charitable donations for Veterans returning from war, and Veterans in need, but it turns out they are actually a political committee and not a charity at all. I donated $100 and after seeing the name "National Assistance Committee on my credit card statement (which is not the name provided by the caller who collected the donation), I found their website online and was very upset to learn that the money collected by this company is not for a charity, and they are in no way providing direct aide to Veterans (they money collected is used to help politicians who "support Veterans" get elected into a political position). I feel that this company is using deceptive tactics to collect donations, so I have just reported them to the Better Business Bureau (under National Assistance Committee, 204 W SPEAR STREET STE 3525, CARSON CITY, NV 89703), and encourage anyone who feels they have been misled and/or scammed by this company to file a claim with the BBB as well.
