Jemison Trail is a wonderful choice for anyone looking for a cool, wooded, beautiful run through the Mountain Brook area. I do not live in Alabama, but was in Birmingham for a few nights and needed somewhere to run in the morning while training for a marathon. The Jemison Trail itself is paved, flat, and about a mile long, connecting to a longer system of nature trails at one end (the trail is not a loop). It's beautiful and green, and an excellent place to knock out a few miles in the company of friendly people and cute dogs.

So cute. Love to see the water mill turning and walk my dog here from lakeshore. Nice steam and walking path for everyone

This is a very nice walking trail. Birmingham is very hot in the summer and this trail is almost complete shaded. It is also very well kept up. There is a creek that runs pretty much the entire length of it. We often take our dog and let her get in the creek to cool down and play. This is in a very nice part of town as well.

I don't run often, but when I do, it's at Jemison Park! This is a beautiful place in Mountain Brook to get out and enjoy nature. There are a couple of trails that last for a couple of miles (not sure the exact distance - like I said, I am not an avid runner). The trail is well-shaded, which is great for summer since Birmingham gets sweltering. The trail crosses a creek a couple of times. Some of it is paved, and some of it is gravel. If you wanted to extend your run, the Lakeshore Trail is not far away in the direction of Brookwood Mall. Flowers, water, shade, and fresh air. Jemison Park ticks all the boxes. :)

If you are looking for a shady place to walk or run, check out Jemison Park. There are always other people there but it never is too crowded. I love nature and this place has a wide selection of beautiful trees. There are beech nuts, american holly, horse chestnuts and many others. There is also a creek that runs through the park and several benches where you can sit and enjoy the scenery. The time I went, the water was so clear that I could see fish from the trails. The only downside is that there is only street parking, but maybe that keeps it from being too crowded.

This is a great park to go right in middle of Mountain Brook. Almost the entire trail is in the shade but is still pretty wide open. It is definitely a go to for us to take the pup on a good walk. It is close enough to the road that you can feel safe. But it also goes along a creek, so you still maintain that nature feel.
It can have some spots that hold water after a good rain. But it is typically not on the trail itself. There are plenty of places to park and you can start just about anywhere. Overall a great trail the is nearby. We will definitely be going here for years to come.

One of my favorite places to run! Scenic walking/jogging trail that winds through the woods just off of the main road. I always feel safe and see many other pedestrians. The first part of the train is a side walk and the second half is light trail. All the way down and back is about 3 miles. This easily connects to roads in Mtn Brook or Lakeshore Trail for a nice long run.
You will find runners/bikers parked every weekend at the NBC bank next to the park.
Use caution with strollers because you have to cross water halfway with only a foot bridge.

This is my favorite trail in Birmingham. I love how it is a beautiful nature trail in the middle of the city and how it runs right along a creek. This trail also crossed the creek and has concrete steps in order to pass the water. This is a great place to get a good workout at all while enjoying awesome scenery. It is also close to Mountain Brook so you can walk to Mountain Brook village and enjoy a coffee or ice cream as part of a fun weekend workout. I would highly recommend this gravel trail

This is one of the beautiful trails in Birmingham. When on the trail you run right beside a beautiful creek in Mountainbrook that continues down past Colonial Brookwood Mall & Samford University. The trail is always filled with walkers, runners, & cyclists! The trail extends for more than 5 miles & can be continued just after passing the Target at Colonial Brookwood Mall! The trail has a paved portion & a more trail like route also for those enthusiasts! It's well maintained & even has a unique area for crossing the creek which is uniquely designed! Very popular trail & a must try! Stroller friendly trail! The trail is shaded very well by the trees growing around it!

I absolutely love this park. No only is shaded but if you have a dog they love it. I have always felt safe when I have been. The paths are well laid out and there are benches to rest if needed.
The park is well kept and you will rarely find any kind of trash along the path. If you are a runner it is a great place to take advantage of the shade during the summer months.
On Sunday the park is well traveled as folks bring their dogs for a leisurely stroll.

This park is a hidden gem inside the City if Mountain Brook. Going through the park you've got a hidden trail ideal for walkers and runners. Living only minutes from this gorgeous and peaceful location I often visit this location. The weekends oddly enough has the least amount of visitors. If I had to guess, weekdays between 5:30-7pm typically has the most people walking through this park. If you're an outdoors aficionado, then this park is a must stop when you're in town. Happy visiting!

A fantastic walking/running park, without question. I usually arrive on the Mountain Brook Parkway area of the park. There has always been plenty of street parking. Note: It's mostly
Trails are clearly marked and simple to follow. Most of them are concrete, dirt or gravel. At one point, you have the option to cross a mildly difficult bridge that runs over a stream.
I usually get off of the trail at some point and follow the easy to navigate Mountain Brook sidewalks. It's a fantastic way to knock out runs from 1 to 10 miles. While I haven't run it at night, I always feel safe. Granted, I feel the same way at Railroad Park.
If you're a runner, be sure to add this park to your list.
