Do not go to this place for implants! The students were friendly and nice, as were most of the doctors, but the students were students, as to the doctors, the old saying applies "He who can does; he who cannot, teaches". I ended up having all my teeth removed at the School over the period of two years, and did have implants inserted in my upper jaw, and was talked into a snap in denture to determine if I would be satisfied with that and not fixed denture. During this period of time (2 years) while having various procedures, I talked to other patients in the surgery waiting area, and out of maybe 20 patients I talked with, three were waiting for surgery because the implants had failed. (I should have realized something was wrong!) The implants they use are a brand called Bicon, and not the more common brand Nobel Biocare. Nobel Biocare is the implant used by most dentist. After I requested to meet with the dean of the school, concerning delays in appointment scheduling, I was told the school would not longer treat me, and had a guard escort me from the campus! One of my later dentist said the though I was discharged because of the poor quality work that had been performed on me. Back to Bi-Con implants, I called Bi-Con and asked them for a list of dentist in the Phoenix and Denver areas who used their product. Their only customer in Phoenix was Midwestern Dental School and they gave me the names of two dentist in Denver who used their product. Several dentist have refused to work on the Bi-Con implants. I have since had Nobel Biocare implants and a permanent denture place on my lower jaw, and I love it! Please heed my advice and don't go to Midwestern for implants!!

I used to have nightmares about losing teeth. This place made my nightmares come true. My quality of life has diminished because of the tricks they played on me to get me to agree to let them pull a bunch of teeth out. They made a lot of promises about what they would do for me. Each step of the way I confirmed with them that the work I requested would be done, but there was always something they needed to do first. I make very clear that I did NOT want certain teeth pulled until we were ready for implants and a bridge.
I was assured are reassured time and again that all was well, we were on track. Once they pulled out all of the teeth they wanted to they suddenly changed their policy and would not finish the work as agreed. They then proceeded to change their story 3 more times about why they were not going to do the work they had promised. Note that each step of the way, instructors were approving and agreeing. Once they could not justify pulling any more teeth, they were done with me.
Clearly their main goal is to give the students pulling practice. They know that if you are coming there for service, you do not have resources to sue them. I would love to know how many people they have done this to. I know that several were screwed over as I was during the time I was there.

I highly recommend this university having a diversity of very professional students, ready to work on your teeth, dentures, crowns, or implants. I have been with the Downer's Grove, IL institution since 2014, and am proud to say that the two students I've seen graduate, "Jeff & Nicole"did such an excellent job on my teeth. From what I hear the students say, the program is very intense, and requires them to go to meetings with other students and their Dental Faculty, and discuss the cases they are treating. They have clinical rotations at different sites, where they learn about different disease processes, and complex cases, extractions, etc. The students are excellent "teachers," since they over-emphasize proper oral hygiene to preserve a good set of teeth. The grounds are beautiful; ample parking lot; check-in is computerized (if you are an existing patient), and the lobby is very clean, cozy, and modern. The restrooms are always clean and fresh! The dental cubicles are the cleanest I've seen in over 50 years that I've been a dental patient at various institutions and dental clinics. I am very impressed with the care I have received at Midwestern U. The University also has other healthcare specialties whose services they offer to the public (e.g., optometry, plus more). The work done by dental students is always presented to the Dental Faculty. They are continuously monitoring the students, and providing recommendations and sharing their expertise with the students. The clerical staff is also very warm and welcoming. As you register for your appointments, the clerical staff may be on the computer, but they never fail to make eye contact, smile, and greet you!
