I bought my Merlyn series 10 shower enclosure 4-5 years ago. I installed it all myself without any issues and followed the instructions to a tee that were all written in English and very easy to follow. During this time the shower has probably been used 2-3 times a day everyday and it looks and works as good today as the day that I installed it. Very recently I had two of the three plastic seals crack/split in places. Having looked online it was obvious I would not be able to purchase a replacement from anywhere. I contacted Merlyn directly and to my amazement sent out a full set completely free of charge and it all arrived within 2 days. The lady i spoke to was very helpful and made the whole process as painless and efficient as possible. I cant fault the quality of the product and the after sales/customer service at all. So much so that if I ever look at buying another shower enclosure there is nowhere else I would look. I only wish they produced other bathroom products.

I bought a Series 10 shower screen to fit a 1600 x 900 shower tray, which meant that I bought a 900mm side panel. Guess what? The 900mm side panel only measures 810mm which means that these screens will only ever fit if you are lucky enough to have bought a tile thin enough to allow tiling over the tray edge and yet still allow one edge of the screen meet the other. Yes, there is flex in terms of the metal fitting profile but only 20mm or so meaning that it is virtually impossible to make the 900mm panel fit a 900mm tray. Even the box comes stamped as 900mm, which makes me wonder how is this legal? Instructions are like hieroglyphics so good luck if you think you can fit one of these at home. And the internet is suspiciously bereft of helpful videos showing how these things are made to fit in real life. AVOID!!

I’ve had my Merlyn Ionic shower enclosure for over two years, the build quality is great and it still looks like new. I managed to break a small door stop and had no idea what the part was evening called so wasn’t sure how easy it would be to replace. One call and an emailed picture to Merlyn and they have identified the part and a new one is on its way. The Customer Service was amazing, I had a helpful email response in less than 20 mins from Ronan who had it all taken care of in no time. I have to admit, I bought two of these shows enclosures mainly because they were reasonably priced, the product quality and customer service were definitely more than I expected! Thanks so much.

The bearings on our Merlyn series 5 failed after 10 years of flawless service.
I contacted customer services and spoke to Lee. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and although the series 5 parts were not available offered me a brand new series 8 complete enclosure.
The communication and service were exemplary from start to finish.
I have no hesitation in recommending Merlyn products and their customer services.

I have a Merlyn 10 shower enclosure and had two reasons to contact Merlyn since purchase. First, several years ago, was due to poor installation by the builder, which a technician put right. More recently the plastic 'strainer' of the waste got cracked and Merlyn sent a replacement. Both times Merlyn responded very quickly - their customer care is brilliant. (And so is the shower enclosure!)

I have recently purchased a shower MERLYN shower tray. Beside the product quality, I was very impressed with the customer service. My builders must have lost the shower tray waste cover. They were very efficient at sending me another spare part and free of charge. Amazing service.

I bought two 1400 x 900mm shower trays, one with M8 shower panel enclosure, the other with M8 sliding door. All were very solid and well made. The trays heavy sturdy beasts, glass has good opacity and hinges etc are very solid. We had problems related to installation..... which Merlyn helped out first with technical advice and then with replacement parts. The sliding door was leaking against tiles (again an installation defect.....) so that had to come out and be replaced with another M8 shower screen. I personally was gutted because I really liked the total enclosure and reassuring 'thunk' as the dose closed. Whilst installing the replacement shower screen, the builder smashed the small panel and broken glass scratched the very sturdy hinges. Really you can't make this stuff up! Alan and colleagues at Merlyn helped us yet again and we now have two working shower enclosures. Great quality sturdy products and excellent after sales for us. Many Thanks.

Wish I had read these reviews before having bathroom in new build apartment designed around the Truestone 25mm tray. Had noticed small marks with rough edges on shower tray then 4 weeks ago I noticed what looks like cracks near centre of shower tray & hollow sound near drain. Contacted builder, Rep from plumbing merchant came out this week to look at tray, said he can't see cracks, just marks, I show him what I'm referring to, he said they may be settlement cracks that all new houses have but I said surely you don't get settlement cracks in shower tray unless something's wrong. Rep said he would get someone from manufacturer to come out to decide if tray faulty, he said he didn't know when I asked what would happen if manufacturer says it's not their fault or it's been poorly installed. Now waiting for Rep from agency who supply Merlyn to plumbing merchant to come out to look at tray. So far I've no obvious signs shower is leaking, though I'm on ground floor so harder to tell but I have lost confidence with the product. Also, I feel water is draining away slower than I expected, Rep said the outlet is quite small & my water pressure is high.

See a number of negative comments, but seem to be as much about installation as the actual product. My experience was very different, fantastic pre-sales engagement to ensure I bought the right product/size. There was a problem with one strip that got damaged in transit but Merlyn dispatched a new one without any fuss or delay. Again super communication and fantastic quality was my experience

Do not buy any shower trays from this company as they are not fit for purpose. We bought a Merlyn M stone shower tray from Grant and Stone as having ensuite updated. We bought this tray as mistakenly thought for Merlyn to fit a bespoke shower enclosure you needed to buy their tray. You don't need to do this though. The M stone tray claims to be a solid stone tray but it is very light and flimsy and despite having professionally fitted by our builder it moved and squeaked when you stood on it. Merlyn customer services were useless and said that you have to fit it their way or it is the highway despite our builder having fitted shower trays for over 20 yrs and did not offer any compensation or replacement. Luckily grant and stone were more customer focused and offered a replacement tray and money towards having the Merlyn tray ripped out and replaced with a proper solid stone one. I note other reviews state similar things with these trays so this is not a one off. I WOULD AVOID THIS COMPANY'S SHOWER TRAYS AT ALL COSTS.

Just bought a Merlyn 1200 wide shower screen for a 1200 tray. Yes, of course there will be some adjustment for fitting to the tiles, but the screen is in fact way too small. I now have to pay £60 +VAT for an "extension" section! I went for Merlyn to achieve a minimal frameless look as they advertise their products to be. Now have an extra piece of trim down one side with an additional join. Doesn't look good and this was an expensive item. Our experienced installer says he's never seen this on top end kit... NOT HAPPY!

I bought the Level 25 tray which my contractors fitted as per the manufacturer instructions. However, the water drained out onto the bathroom floor rather than down the plughole. Having complained to Merlyn, they sent a technical engineer who reviewed the installation. He concluded that 1) the tray had been fitted correctly (using a spirit level to test), 2) there were no issues with drainage, 3) therefore the issue was that our water flow was too heavy. Note that no where on the technical specifications does this say it but Merlyn claimed the shower tray was made to only accommodate 16L/minute of water. We changed our shower head to a 12L/minute water flow and the water continued to flow out of the tray onto the bathroom floor - clearly the product was faulty. Merlyn then claimed that the shower tray must have been fitted incorrectly (despite previously having concluded that it was fitted correctly) and said they could not give me a refund. It was only when I started to process a claim through the small claims court that they suddenly were very accommodating and refunded me the cost of the tray, new shower head and costs of building a lip to stop the water flowing out onto the floor. This entire process took about 6 months - it was the worst after sales service I have ever received and on numerous occasions I felt like Merlyn were dishonest in failing to admit the product was faulty. I am pleased in the end that the issue was resolved but cannot recommend this company.

We bought a Merlyn shower tray and had it fitted as per manufacturer's instruction by highly skilled plumbers. However, after about 6 weeks the tray started making loud squeaking noises when in use. We had another tray fitted as the first one was still under guarantee but sadly the same problem occurred. After a lot of hassle with Merlyn who again seemed dishonest and unwilling to admit that there clearly is a design fault with the tray we have now found another tray and needless to say with such appalling service from Merlyn our only advice is DO NOT BUY their shower trays!

I have a good experience generally with the Technical staff at Merlyn, and I like the enclosure (Merlyn 10mm). But the Mstone tray is very poor. I have now had two trays fitted, and each one squeaked and groaned when stood on. Merlyn say they were not fitted properly, although the expensive and very professional plumbing firm were tearing their hair out, trying to get the shiny plastic underside of the tray to bond/ stay solid with the cement mix. The tray is also flimsy. The plumber says that he will never again work with Merlyn trays! He is now going to fit a JT tray - I am hoping that this one is acceptable.

I Installed this shower tray during a bathroom refit of my home. Fitted it according to the instructions on a 30mm bed of 5to1 sand and cement on 18mm marine ply deck screwed to joists. Whilst showering 2 months later heard a pop sound. Couldn't see anything wrong but on closer inspection I could see a faint line or indentation running across part of one end. Not a crack but more a feint crease. After calling Merlyn they sent out two plumbers who subcontract from them to inspect it. I explained to them how the tray had been installed. They checked it for level and movement and found no issue. They then proceeded to knock on the tray listening for hollow sounds.
They told me they thought the line I could see was most likely a surface defect or imperfection made during manufacture and to keep an eye on it but keep using it.
The next day they sent a report to Merlyn which stated that both the plumbers believed the tray had been poorly installed and inadequately supported due to evidence of their tapping and the cement body of the tray underneath has given way. Completely disregarding my testimony and offer of photos taken during installation.
I feel this is a massive brush off and an avoidance of the considerable cost of replacing the tray under their 25 year warrantee. I know fitting instructions were followed to the letter as I installed it but it seems the plumbers tapping trumped my testimony!
I'm left afraid of using the shower in my new bathroom incase of more damage.
I've been told that if I want to rip the bathroom out at my cost and invite them round when the trays lifted, they would have a look and decide if what I did meets their requirements and decide wether or not to step up.
I was told of the fragile nature of the tray so I went over and above what was in the installation instructions to avoid any issues. The reverse of the tray is not flat but instead has shallow recesses due to the manufacturing process. It would be extremely difficult to make a dry sand and cement mix fill these voids in their entirety due to trapped air underneath the tray and it these air pockets that make the hollow sound. If the tray is so fragile that trapped air can cause a failure the I would say it was not strong enough and not fit for purpose.

Had a small problem with corrosion on a couple of corners of our enclosure. Using the lifetime guarantee, the unit was very quickly replaced.
Excellent service - couldn't have asked for better.

We bought a glass shower panel in black and was delighted with our purchase. However, when we went to install it it shattered into pieces. The following day my husband phoned Merlyn and explained what happened. Without hesitation, they said they would replace it free of charge and true to their word the glass was ready for collection a few weeks later. They recommended a guy to install the panel who was first class at his job. What more can I say only that I have a beautiful shower and Merlyn are a fantastic company. Thanks a million.
