I have ordered a rug in Dec 2017, paid for it the same day. No delivery and it is 9 months later. They dont answer or respond to mails. isn't there something that we could all do?

I ordered something on 18 April and still haven't received anything. After several phone calls and emails they promised me one delivery date after the other...nothing received... after several attempts I managed to get hold of them and they then informed me that they screwed up my order and that they will escalate it. After two months they gave me some lame excuse that its held up at customs (not even in SA yet)...so how did they previously confirm delivery dates and ETA's and the stuff isnt even in South Africa yet?. They then said they will place an order again and I will receive it within two weeks. I've waited 3 months already. Phone lines never work...working on the technical problem for three months? No reply to emails all of a sudden. A consultant with the name of Dee even promised me she will personally deal with my query and keep me updated...never heard from her again. It seems that nobody knows what is going on and nobody is taking ownership. I will not recommend Merkado to anyone...pathetic service...or should I say lack of service. They steal your money and you never see your order.

Do not waste your time or your money!! They are just the worst online shopping company you can ever try! I have placed an order, paid and everything for more than 4 months ago! I insisted upon a refund, but nothing came from it! They are the biggest scammers!

I placed an order with Merkado ( and paid ) more than a month ago - to date I have still not received the goods - the phones never work and my e-mails go unanswered or are answered with incorrect info.

I placed an order and paid for a charger that Merkado said was "in stock" at the end of March 2018. The 20 days to delivery came and went. When I sent a follow up email, nothing! I have called and every time get an apology and a different story about the delay, all of which has not gotten me any close to getting what I paid for.
Concerned, I went online to check what other people's experience has been. The overwhelming consensus on Hello Peter, Google, and here is that Merkardo is really poor. I have found and bought the charger elsewhere and now want my money back BUT this seems unlikely from online reviews! Will this end up at the Small Claims Court I wonder?
Watch this space - they will respond with a well worded apology asking me to contact them so they can sort this out. From the copy & paste nature of these responses here and on other fourms I wonder if it is not a robot doing this work. If they cared so much then why is my problem not resolved or why do they not communicate with me (as the supplier) rather than expecting me to chase them to do what I have paid them for?
I have shopped with numerous other online retailers - Amazon, Takealot, Bid or Buy, etc. - so Merkado is not reinventing the wheel. Their inability to deliver on their promises and lack of action in dealing with their failures leaves me with the feeling that Merkado is a SCAM!
BEWARE! Do business with Merkado at your own risk!!!

On the 26 April I ordered something from MERKADO, on 27 April I cancelled my order. I spoke to one of your consultants who assured me that the refund process takes 7 working days, up until today I still have not received my refund.
When I try and follow up all that I get told is that my banking details are by the 'finance team' and I will be sent proof of refund once finance sends it to you.
It has been over a month now and I am still waiting for my refund!!!!

Do not buy from Merkado.
I ordered a product from them approximately 3 months ago and it has never arrived. I have emailed them numerous times and am yet to receive a response.

Well done Merkado - a month after indicating that my refund will take 7 days to process and still no refund and you simply ignore attorney letters - Seems you deem yourselves above the law as well! 4 months after placing my order no goods no refund - just more and more laughable excuses, backlog, etc - disgraceful business ethic Merkado!!

Well My complaint would almost seem as generic as the responses that Merkado gives to everyone.
I have given them All my Details for correct delivery and contact details.
I will NEVER recommend them to anyone. my Order #000007075 has been procured for 1.5 months and has been at customs for a month now.
I have sent 3 mails in this week alone with no response, the phone number they give does not exist.
I am [email protected] of this company, I have opted for a refund, however they don't even ask for my banking details. They Just REFUSE to do anything about the queries we have.
So if I don't have my parcel by the 27th I shall also open a case against them.
They asked for my banking details a week ago, yet no refund has been made. This is truly a TERRIBLE company.

Despicable, dishonest and knowingly misleading over purchases and delivery. Automated emails mislead and occasional personal responses show clearly an intention to defraud. Avoid at all cost!

I am still awaiting an order that was placed on the 5th of April.
I received one email advising of delays on the 26th of April 2018, and no further communication thereafter.
I only receive automatic replies when I send follow up emails, and their telephone lines have been down for a long time.

So seems like I will just be another person in the que of bad Merkado reviews. I ordered a duvet cover from them and paid the same day. I thought that they were a trusted supplier as I got their contact details on the Takealot website as one of their suppliers. What a huge mistake to order anything from them!!!!! It has been way past the maximum delivery time of 21 working days and I have not received anything. I got one respond from their customer service and ever since my mails are simply ignored. I have no idea where my item is and if I am even going to receive it. And from the other posts it seems like a refund is also wishful thinking. I hope that someone uncovers what is going on with this supplier so future shoppers don't also get tricked out of their money. To conclude - don't think Merkado will bother to respond to this review, but for any other shoppers considering buying from them - STAY AWAY!

On May 28th 2018 I placed an order, after reading the small print about delivery.Unfortuantely for me, I had dealt with Merkado twice before, and I did receive my goods on the original order of a Milk_Shake hair treatment, it took many e-mails and it did arrive.
I swore I would not deal with them again!
I then placed an order for an Alessi Toothpick holder, which was advertised at a rediculously low price(R370.00) and that is when I should have realized something was wrong...But they came back to me saying it was "Out of Stock" and promptly refunded me the money.
Some time later, being 28th May 2018, I purchased a double order of Milk_Shake Integrity(excuse the pun!!!!!) Treatment...8 X 12ml glass vials in a box(I ordered 2 boxes) R1860.00 and to date nothing has arrived and the phone number provided "Does NOT exist) when one calls it.
About 10 days back their e- ails I sent to customer care were also being bounced back.
Over 2 weeks ago I spoke to a lady who told me:"I know what has happened and I'm going to get back to you, after speaking to our overseas supplier, and let you know when your order will arrive"
Never heard back from them and I received an e-mail from Customer Care, in fact a few apologizing for the delay and if I sent my banking details, which I immediately did, they would refund me the R1850.00 and when the goods arrive into SA they would notify me and I could repurchase.
Nothing has been refunded!!!!
Please, could you help me?
It seems they treat customers in this way.
I am goingto visit my Bank(Nedbank) today to see if they can help me too.

Ordered two products.
Merkado failed to obtain the other.
Merkado undertook to provide a refund for the undelivered item.
Since last year until this year, Merkado agents always have ready made lies as to how the finance team intends to refund me.
Clients therefore have to beg for what they are entitled to.

I was rather fearful I know Amazon and others but Merkado was a new online expierence. I am very happy they have much stock which is brilliant. We in South Africa and delivery of the keyboard took longer than I would have liked. But 5 stars for delivery packaging etc. I hope that with the next purchase a customery weekly courtesy email will be standard if the item is taking longer than 2 weeks for delivery. Yes, I recommended Merkado.

My order have been placed and paid for - it's days after payment and order and still no response from Merkado. Not one telephone get answered when calling the number provided. I would strongly not recommend shopping at Merkado in the future!!!

First time I bought an expensive item online. Had problems with it and sent it back, their technicians had a look and sorted it out and returned it. No hassles and good personalized service from the manager herself.
