I'm trying to build a new house - how difficult can it be to get a new power connection? Apparently it is fraught with problems.
I first contacted Meridian on the 18th of January 2018 to establish a power connection at my new property. The power was finally turned on around the 18th of June 2018, that's about 5 months.
We installed one of those new smart meters, and the electrician sent off all of the paperwork to Meridian - they seem to have lost it as the keep sending me reminders to send in a meter reading.
I rang them on Monday to sort this out, spent 30 minutes on the phone to a consultant who understood the problem and was fixing it all up. Today I received another email with another reminder, I rang again and nothing has changed.
Very frustrated at this poor performance and failure to follow through. I'm wondering now whether they will solve the problem before they cut the power off.
Very close to switching to another provider. My recommendation - avoid using this company if you can.
