I am requesting the status of our cancellation of contract update that we requested on Monday the 2nd of August due to MEO's breach of contract for services.
On August 25 there was a storm that took out all lines for our lights, internet, home phones, and satellite. On August 25 at daylight, I contacted MEO about no home phone lines and no internet services.
I contacted your office, and after being left on hold for about 1 hour, I spoke to technical support.
I informed technical support that I have a medical situation in my home as my husband has a lung disease that is life-threating and we must always have phone and internet service for emergency contact since we live at the top of a mountain. We are not close to a town nor cafe.
I also told them that I am an author, and my income comes from my books that I must have internet access to earn income.
I have contacted your office for more than 16 times in less than 1.5 weeks. The first time they told me it would be repaired the following day, but no one came. Then they told me they would come that day, but no one came. A few days later I called, and they told me 3 weeks. I ask to speak to a supervisor, and the supervisor refused to talk to me/
I called this past Monday again on the 1st September and was told that MEO should have repaired the service long before now and that we were not receiving the service MEO promised us in the contact. He then told as he was filing a complaint about us and requesting cancellation of the contract.
On September 3, we went into the office in Aveiro, and we spoke to someone about an update on the cancellation of the contract, and we saw it in your computer system.
We want 3 things from MEO at this point:
1. A Cancellation of Contract
2. A Refund for all the days we have been without service for landline and internet.
3. Why should we have to pay MEO to speak with Technical support for a problem we did not create and an issue MEO will not fix.
We are not NOS customers, but, they have been kind enough to assist us in internet services since MEO will not.

The worst company ever in my 45 year business.
How have they trained the people ?
This company would disappear when a new company is allowed to make business in Portugal.
What kind og management do they have ?
- Shame you !

MEO Horrible service, the employees don’t have a clue what they are doing. My internet was down I couldn’t even connect to their technical service. I went to the MEO desk they didn’t know what to do. They again connected me to the technical guy who said I should go home and then call him. But in vain I call and they keep you on hold but no response. We raised complaint tickets still no response. No one should go with MEO.

Meo is the most abusive company I have ever encountered. They stalk their customers. They call non-stop, sometimes up to 14 times a day, 2/3 weeks in a row. And if you are a foreigner you are even more abused. They call you, you say "hello" and they hang up the phone because their operators refuse to speak in English. If they do continue the phone call and you ask who they are, they don't provide an answer. Is that even legal not to say who you are? And when you block the number, they unblock it. This kind of stalking behavior is a serious form of pestering and invasion of privacy and it should be punished by law.

Terrible, Terrible Service on every level. Internet is horrible. It's 1/3 to 1/2 what they promised. Cable is terrible ! They signed us on a certain package and a few months later, they stopped carrying the particular channels that were important to us and the only reason we signed with them. Then there is the house phone, part of our package. But they could not give us English directions for the phone so we can't get into the voice mail messages. We have begged and begged for them to let us trade in the router, the house phone and the useless cable TV for a "hot Spot" for the final. year of our contract. They keep saying "NO" !! Why should it matter as long as we remain customers until the end of our contract?? wouldn't it be better to let us switch to a HOIT SPOT (which we would have to buy from them) that would give us faster internet speed and allow us to get the TV channels we want on the internet???????? Then we would be happy customers and likely to renew our contract at the end of the year. If we are unhappy customers it is NOT very likely we will renew.

I have lived in 7 European countries and in all I had, in the beginning, a prepaid telephone card. Later a subscription in a few of the countries.
From these 7 countries (Netherlands, Spain, Malta, Greece, Bulgaria, Czech Republic & Portugal) I learned 1 thing.
All!!!, really all telephone companies are not the way we like them to be. Everywhere in the stores the waiting time is horrible.
Yet, my experience with MEO Porto Portugal was much better then in the other countries (Vodafone, KPN, O2, name them, I tried them). And my level of Portuguese was not very high when first bought my SIM card.
Yes there are many things they can improve but my overall experience was good in the Maia store. Very good.
As I always give negative comments, for me it is normal to give also positive feedback when this happens. Like now.

Upon walking in the lady who
Takes our reservations was very rude
We were a large group you think they would be a little more polite. We opt for the full service of $60 a person . Not enough food or portion for the price we paid , I literally got 4 small pieces of steak and 2 pcs was all fat. There were so many issues I suggest to everyone go to another place the manager is so rude you think he would be a man and come out of his hiding place and address the many issues we were having .

i'm sorry to say this but telecom regulations in portugal are a sad joke. at least with meo and nos i've lost count of stupid problems and extra charge you get for random things - from extra services you did not request to (also unrequested) promo ad messages that clutter your inbox.
and of course there's always an easy way to solve this (specially with MEO): call their call-centers and enter a kafkaesque experience for a couple of hours until you manage to get it solved, only to learn after that you have been charged for the call (not cheap, for the usual portuguese wallet at least) and to wait a couple of days to discover that the problem has not been solved at all!
what else to expect from from a limp regulator ANACOM that is serviced by the entities it's supposed to regulate? there's no conflict of interest at all!
PS. never EVER subscribe a mobile internet service in portugal if you need it as your main access to the web and plan using it a lot as (at least until recently) all the "unlimited" plans have a 15GB limit on it. once reached, you'll be shoved into a 192Kbit/s connection until next month. yes, even with a "futuristic next gen" 200Mb/s contractual speed - that you'll never reach, by the way!
and, of course, if you complain that you were never informed of such limit: it's not their fault, it's ANACOM's rules!!
some portuguese dude

Used to be their customer in Portimao, Portugal. The overall store experience is 50/50, not all staff speak English well enough, service is always on the slow side (even for Portugal)... Some basic things like prepaid internet balance check require a visit to the store...
And the final nail to the coffin was to pay 500 EUR just to cancel the contract. I would avoid them at any cost.

Worst company ever. We signed a 24 month pack contract (tv + cellphones and internet). Everything worked well until last month. We randomly lost connection the WiFi. We reported the problem by spending hours speaking to the customer service to finally getting a call from the technical department to tell us that this is normal and that they are unable to do anything as somebody in our building is interfering our WiFi signal. So she suggested that we get connected to the internet by cable. What a joke. On top of that she informs us that we can’t cancel the contract as they are fulfilling the contract as they supply the internet and not the WiFi that was installed by them.

Signed a 2 year contract for a package including ‘up to 15mbps’ Wi-Fi. The service has never been good but for the last 2 months I’ve averaged 2mbps. After a lot of calls complaining about the service I’ve been told there is nothing they can do for me.
Contracts department tell me there is no chance of a refund or compensation because they are providing the service that they promised.
Went online to see what MEO are selling nowadays and they now offer a contract for ‘up to 40mbps’ Wi-Fi. Got a call from a salesman (who didn’t know I already had a contract) and he told me that a minimum figure would be in excess of 10mbps. When I told him the average was 2 he told me I was mistaken???

Terrible company. Wifi rarely better than 0.5mbps. Go to a meo shop and they just say they will report the problem
All you get is text to call a certain number where you are offered a list of automated options with no escape

Absolutely miserable company. They began spamming me BEFORE I even left their office. Despite asking them to cease, I received a CONSTANT stream of calls and text messages, attempting to sell me services.
When I answered MY PHONE in English, they would most frequently HANG UP. This happened several times a day. Once the salesman complained "Why don't you speak Portuguese?"
Today I called a toll free international collect number to discuss a stolen credit card. Mid-conversation, MEO texts me and breaks the line, then blocking my outgoing calls....why? Because "Meo will always charge you an international toll, we don't care about collect calls."
They DRAINED my account time.
I demanded they withdraw the charge or it would be my last call ever with MEO. The response: "OK".
I loathe this company. God help the next salesperson from MEO who dares to contact me. They will get an ear-full.

Terrible customer service. Everytime I go to recharge my monthly Meo mobile package in Meo service centre in Amoreiras shopping centre, I have to wait for almost an hour to get my issue addressed. Everytime I go, the waiting line management is horrible. At most they have 2 or 3 guys in the line but even then to get to the representative takes ages. They are completely inefficient. I waited in queue for half an hour for my turn and when I reached the representative, his name is Rogerio, he told me he doesn't understand English. I mean cmon Meo you can at least recruit service representative who can speak English. Additionally I wasn't speaking rocket science in English. I tried him to make him understand monthly bill/monthly invoice. Nothing kind of worked for him. This isn't the first time experience. It has occurred to me always. Being a private company, I expect them to be more efficient.
Meo service sucks.

Profiteering, lying, immoral.
The worst company I have ever used. Telecommunications companies have a bad reputation, but MEO have soured it further.
Do not fall for the sales schmucks. Do not take verbal advice.
We only wanted a 1 year contract, but were effectively forced into an initial 2 year contract, with the verbal advice that should we choose to move apartments in our second year in Portugal we could simply transfer our internet free of charge.
This was a complete lie. After bodging the re-installation date, we were forced into another 2 year contract (as a result of moving house). Effectively this means that a house-move is not free at all, you are simply paying for it by starting another 2 year contract. Any change to a MEO contract means a fresh 2 year contract has to be started.
The cost of exiting this contract is a whopping 380 euros.
Any communication is virtually impossible. The employees in the lojas outright lie, as do the telesales/help centre people.
I feel degraded and mistreated.
Don't give this company your money. MEO are just the worse.

They are just regular criminals,
I have two phone both with 4GB, and for some time now, regularly they start charging me for going over that.
on the beginning, it was 2 euro then 5 o 6 this time they just went way to fare 30euro so I guess I have used all my internet in 14 days? jus on Facebook and Instagram and WhatsApp.
It's funny as I use most the time wifi and it impossible to consume that amount of data and with the previous operator, I never use even 2GB, basically they are just cheating when they are counting consumed MBs my allowance 2 euro per day on both phones event tho i never agreed for that.
Thay still from customers every daily!

Long story short:
Trying to cancel my internet service since October 2017 (month where my 2 year contract finally was finished).
Couldn't cancel it through the website, for unknown reasons.
I am outside the country so I couldn't go to one of their shops and do it in person, and mailing really wasn't convenient NOR should I have to pay the postage to make up for their technical problems.
I was promised a solution to this.
Months went by and no solution was given, I guess they were happy to get my money.
Eventually I decided to simply cancel the bank automatic payments for this would call out their attention.
Contract got forfeit for lack of payment but still I'm in debt, as 3 months of the service weren't paid. Three months that I wanted to cancel the service anyway for and could NOT due to their inability. October 2017 to April 2018 paying for a service I did not want.
I could probably take this to court and not pay.
But just to finally be done with this scum company I'll pay to simply put it behind me.
These guys are full of promises and actually have good prices, but the service is of sub-par quality, their technical support is near useless if something even remotely complicated comes up.
Seriously: Avoid them.
I rarely write online reviews, I'm writing this one in hopes of saving someone the trouble I just had to go through.
