Its a scam website. You cant delete your card details and they just roll you on without you notice it. There is no phone number for customer service only an email which they never reply. I paid £180 for 10 salad I got with the first time plan that I subscribed to.

I returned to Mealpal after taking a year off. My office is located on 50th and 7th and there are plenty of options to choose from.
In one month I had two inedible meals. Rating them one star or complaining to Mealpal does not seem to affect anything, exept they did give me credits. Unfortunately the credits only resulted in unused lunches at the end of the cycle. Restaurants giving you bad food remain in the plan.
I feel that the restaurants are left with little money after Mealpal takes their cut, and it order to turn a profit, they skimp on portion and quality. 60% of the meals were tiny portions, of poor quality, or both. I purchased additional food several times in order to supplement the tiny portions.
Canceling is not easy. You cannot do it on the website. You can only pause your account. In order to cancel, you have to write them an email and that doesn't even result in a cancellation. They respond asking you to describe why you want to cancel. They also threaten you with a $20 fee if you wish to reactivate in the future.
The savings are attractive but negated by occasional inedible food that you have to replace, and tiny portions that you have to supplement.

It's a good concept in London with good meals available in City area. However I had my account on hold and went to update the hold 3 days before and they just took money from my account by me pressing to reactivate my hold. No request to confirm, or confirmation afterwards of what had happened, just £60 gone from my account which I only realised when checking my statements. I panicked because of these trustpilot reviews saying the same happened to so many people, so tweeted about my frustration that they just took my money, and someone contacted me to help sort it. They promised a refund in 3 to 5 working days, again trustpilot reviews have suggested this often never arrives, but it did in fact arrive the next day so I have to give them credit for that, although it appears I'm one of the lucky ones! But still only 3 stars because of the shady tactics of taking your money when it isn't due, reactivating membership when I hadn't asked for it, and how impossible it seems to be just to end your membership!!! No responsible business should make it such a challenge to stop them taking money direct from your account.
If you're struggling to get your money back... Try tweeting them!

What a nasty little app this is. I tried it for one month and first thought that it was quite promising, save money, have the vendor prepare your food in advance and jump the queue Etc. The saving money bit is negated if you have to cancel a lunch and you then loose it. The queue jumping bit is exactly that. Your food isn't prepared until you get there and scan the QR code so all you're doing is pushing in. Meal pal should be sold as an app that lets you "push in front of other people".
I pushed in the first time I used it and really felt like ignorant savage.
People waiting are quite rightly annoyed and the vendors don't like it as they get complaints.
On the other hand, if you really like to be restricted for choices and you don't mind being a w*nker, then Meal Pal might be just the ticket.

A poor selection of food. You are not really saving anything unless you eat every day. They removed 4 meals from my account which were already paid for from pre-paid meals and then said I had to pay £70 to get them back when they re-designed the site.

They get you with the $5 to $6 per meal sign up, but then the price goes up. They make it incredibly hard to cancel your membership if your account is on hold and you want to just delete it all together. They don't respond in emails. They don't communicate what they're charging you. You won't know until you check your card statement.
SHADY SHADY SHADY!

The concept initially sound great. Once I start using it I realized how difficult to commit to this as I don’t alway work in the city. The meal portion is small offered from most of the restaurant . I didn’t intend to renew the service but realized I was already charged for another month without notification. I wrote to cancel my plan but no reply so far. I will take on media if this is not resolved soon. This sound like scam to me

Very misleading tactics to get you to sign up, prices aren't much cheaper than restaurants or even the same price or more in some cases and there isn't as much choice.
Customer service are ignoring my request to be refunded after I was mislead on the price I would pay when signing up too...
Avoid in the UK

What a scam! I ordered a meal thinking it could be a one time purchase to try out the service, but you automatically charge my account for a monthly membership cycle which I did not sign up for. And now you have automatically credited my account with $100! And after much searching, there is no option to delete account, delete subscription, delete payment method except for emailing you 7 days prior to cancelling? Ridiculous! I want my money back! Do not bother with this service whatsoever!

After I create the account, I want to see if there is any closer restaurants near me then decide to purchase the order or not, but I can't see any. It's really bad UX design, I don't want to purchase the meal and takes me drive 30 mins to pick up the meal. I guess you Mealpal did a good job to do PR, it seems a lot of people talk about this company.

Previously it was good, but now I realise they are overpriced then the restaurant prices, today I ordered pita from a nearby restaurant, originaly its price is $7.90 at restaurant (with option of meat), Mealpal charging us $8.50 (without option of meat)
Felt cheated today, might have another lunch for today.

Extremely difficult to cancel your subscription, almost like a scam

- The app performance was terrible, often crashing when trying to search for meals in the area
- The cancellation process and policy is deliberately labyrinthine and cannot be trusted to work
- MY ADVICE: Do not use this platform - it's feels very scam-like and you'll pay for it in the long run through time and frustration.
Enjoyed the service during the trial, then decided it wasn't value for money afterwards.
Having read some online reviews, I was wary of the tough cancellation process once your account has been created. Navigating through their website I found the process to cancel is hidden away behind fine print to contact their team directly via email (no phone or other options are available).
Proceeded to work through the cancellation with their team via email (where they diligently tried to remind me of the value of their product...) where I explicitly requested twice to cancel my account.
I've just logged in after several months of not using the service and found that
a) My account has not been cancelled
b) My credit card has continued to be billed and I've missed meals that I didn't want anyway.
c) An auto-top up option in my account, that automatically debits my card when my balance runs low, has been enabled. This option was disabled when I last logged in.

They switched to a new subscription model in Australia where you pay them a membership fee and each meal is individually priced (range from $6.99 to $10.99); relative to the flat 12 meals a month where it worked out as c$7.50. Of course what happened was that all the decent stuff immediately went to $10.99 meaning you get far less than previously (for more money). The transition was undertaken under the auspices of getting 'more and better' restaurants onto the app but, as always happens, it was really just about the bottom line.
Anyway, the above is not why I am rating it 1 star as this was merely a change in their subscription model which, relatively speaking, rips you off. No, the reason I am one starring it was that I cancelled my subscription after the first month of the new deal and- given that there is not a 'mealpal' wallet with physical cash in it, I assumed that I could spend that whenever i wanted but, no, if you do not pay mealpal the $5 the following month then whatever cash is in the wallet is subsumed my mealpal. As other reviews state, it is the sneakiness of it all, it's clearly designed so that people will forget/ be ignorant of, and Mealpal subsume for their own revenue.
May have considered returning at some point but absolutely zero chance following their evasiveness.
Another note for people thinking about it, many lunch places offer their own lunchtime deals which are cheaper than mealpal quoted prices e.g. a favourite restaurant of mine do a $10 meal deal at lunch (with a wide variety of options) but the mealpal single option from there (which is the same as one of the mealdeals) is $10.99. The mealpal discount is quoted relative to if you went in and individually ordered the constituent parts and sat in.

Wait until you have an issue with your account - no way to contact them. Have sent 5 emails to the mealpal email address which is the only contact method you receive and no reply!!!

I really like this service. I hate cooking and usually end up buying my lunches, which adds up cost-wise...so this is more or less the perfect solution for me. It gives you plenty of options around central Auckland, all within walking distance of my work. Meal sizes vary by restaurant but are usually very good. The only thing I don't like is the expiration date - it doesn't give you much leeway if you end up not being able to use it for a few days.

his company is a scam. I requested to cancel my account and gave them the reason as to why I no longer need their services. They were trying to offer me their flex plans then still charged my card without my permission since i stated it very clear that I no longer interested. Requested a refund but heard nothing from them. Feel like a scam.

The food I received using MealPal is of "sample" size. It is good for tasting new items but definitely not for ordering meals. There is no control of portion size and up to the participating joints how much they want to serve. Technically there is no discount, you pay 40% less but get 40% lesser quantity. Very limited choice of menu and too much constraint. Not recommended and will not renew it next month.

I just signed up for the trial service and before I even had a chance to use it they billed me for almost 100 dollars!!! Not surprisingly, emails to get this charge explained and removed were not replied to.

can't cancel the plan, they only have an email for cancellation or putting on hold, and when you email them, nothing happens.
It's been a week since I emailed them that I will put my plan on hold indefinitely / cancel the plan cos I'm moving out of Sydney into Windsor and there's no available restaurant in Windsor, there was no reply, nothing.
I sent them another email 2 days ago, still nothing.

1. Remember folks: If something seems too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true.
2. They get you to sign up for an account and add your credit card even if your area doesn't have restaurants.
3. They charge you even if you never use their service.
4. They charge you even if there are no meals in your area.
5. They charge you different amounts at different times of the month.
6. They do not have an option to contact customer service like a professional company does - instead it's just an email address.
7. They email you TWICE a day about what's available to eat today and what's available tomorrow - EVEN IF YOU HAVE NO OPTIONS IN YOUR AREA.
8. You must log in to your account in order to unsubscribe from their email: This violates Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation.
9. You can not delete your credit card information from your account.
Sort of sure this is not legal, but definitely 100% sure this indicate they are crooked.

Scam - don't use it. They charge without notification after trial period and their terms&conditions are sneaky. Absolutely avoid it (and finally, most of the meals are ridiculously small)
