I love the variety of games Majestic Star has to offer. It would of been a higher rating but the number of people that sit on two games is unreal. A number of them have money in both while playing one at a time.

same constant food served everyday. needs more variety. fresh soup, not in a bag soup. i once saw worker refill soup in a sealed plastic bag. A lot of food served thats reheated frozen food, not fresh. Sometimes food sits there cold because nobody touches it.

I frequently visit the Harbor View buffet as i receive 2 free buffets per month. There is a variety of food offered. The only problem i have is when they serve Crab legs, many times the legs are drenched in water and it tastes like it.

Hello there, my last visit was ok, but I have had much better experiences, on this particular day the staff was short, my server didn't offer me anything to drink after my initial drink was gone, I asked for wet wipe and didn't get it I had to get up and go to the bathroom and wash the barbeque sauce off my hands, sometimes I get the feeling that some of the server's just don't care, and it shows, I would like to see happiness, smiles, pleasant servers, I tip accordingly to how I'm treated, not because I have to, I get good service, I give great tips.

One problem we had was, I asked a chef to bring out more of a particular dish. He said he would and never did. We left.

Very nice. Helpful and efficient. The only real problem that I seen is that only one cashier on a Friday and the money machines wouldn't let me put in the amount I wanted. Had to move 2 x to actually find one that worked.

A nice variety of entrees and sides. Hot food could be hotter. The salad bar is good. The dessert selection sometimes lacks variety. The staff is very friendly and one waitress ( Stance ) is 5 stars plus. The only downside is sometimes there is a long wait to get in. Sometimes there is only one cashier to handle large crowds. Also it is very frustrating to stand in lines that never move and see the Access people walk right thru the middle. It would be better if they had a line on the side.

First off, I've definitely noticed a difference at the Majestic Star Harbor View Buffet. And it's a great step in the right direction. Obviously it's been given a face-lift which is the first thing you'll notice as you step in. Not a complete overhaul but it definitely feels a lot more open and inviting. The food, on the other hand, has taken a step up. It has more flavor, better recipes, bigger variety, etc. Now that's the positive. The negative is that it still pales in comparison to the Horseshoe buffet in Hammond. What does Horseshoe buffet have that majestic doesn't? Well a dedicated 5-station cuisine that doesn't vary each day (i.e. Mexican for Tuesday, Asian for Monday, etc) Also the food's always delicious and never dry. Plus they have prime rib every night....yes that's right......EVERY NIGHT!!! However there's one necessary dish that both buffets are missing.......POT ROAST!!!!! A MUST HAVE FOR ANY BUFFET!
All in all it's a great buffet and I definitely appreciate the strides Majestic is taking to satisfy their customers....oh yeah, that's the only other complaint I would have about Majestic and it's systemic / overall. Their customer service is very crappy. If I were rating Customer Service alone I would give it Zero to 1 star. The staff is very uninterested and not courteous or respectful of the patrons. They do not realize that we are the ones paying their salaries. Now go to Horseshoe and you'll see everyone smiling and more than happy to assist you no matter what department you go to.

I have to say that this is a big improvement from what it was like a few years ago. I have truly enjoyed the last few time I have visited the buffet. I had at one time gotten to the point that I wouldn't come because every time I did the food would be cold and bland. It is much better now.

I enjoyed my gaming @ your casino. However, there are people who sit around machines and they are not even playing.
Also, the air quality throughout the building is poor.

you asked for my opinion as it regards to the steakhouse at Majestic Star Casino....The entire staff is so friendly and engaging...Josh Bishop runs the steakhouse...he is so friendly and helpful with his entire staff making sure the flow in the dining room is smooth...the wait staff is so friendly and knowlegable as it pertains to the menu and what is good for the evening or not so good...the chef is engaging with the customers when time allows...the entire experience makes the steakhouse an integral part oft the overall gaming experience at the Majestic Star Casino....in a nutshell this steakhouse is a destination a person would choose even if they were not going to the casino...5 stars for quality of food and service....

I prefer the Majestic Star over other area casinos because they have the best variety of video poker machines. The friendly employees are also another reason i prefer Majestic.

Every gambler's delusion is that there is a CHANCE of winning. However, such is NOT the case with most folks who visit the Majestic Casino. Unless your idea of fun is throwing a lot of hard earned money away, don't go. Keep your money, or better yet, shred it into confetti and make pinatas to beat blindfolded with a big stick because ultimately, this is all you will hit after your long and wearied hours of gaming at the Majestic Casino. For the gambler, this casino is dismal. You won't win. The machines are loud, and bright, but EXTRAORDINARILY TIGHT! From the music to the atmosphere, the gaming is anything but festive, fun, and entertaining, and least of all profitable. The often depressing and redundant music sets the tone from the time you walk into the door. Only on rare occasions are the programmed radio stations allowed to veer towards something upbeat or nostagically familiar that will cause people to reminisce of better days and happier times. The people who often frequent this casino look disgruntled and pissed off most of the time. If not sleep on benches or in cars, they amble around looking like they have been kamikazied, or better yet, as if they are shell shocked, and can't find their way to the front door. The customer service is horrible. Walk into the Access Lounge and you are likely to be greeted by representatives at the front desk who half smile and appear deeply irritated that you have interrupted their nail filing sessions. The wait in long lines at the Wings N Things restaurant or the buffet is like a lottery drawing. If your wait time from the time ordered to delivery was less than 20 minutes, you feel as though you have hit the Jack Pot! The best thing by far that the Majestic Casino offers is the nickle Game King machines, but they are situated way on the second floor of the Majestic Star II, and rarely ever jackpot on Caveman Keno. The older versions located on the second floor of the MaJestic Star I are quarters, and they may NEVER jackpot. They rarely ever pay, and you are sure to lose major money. It is as if that function that regulates the pay out has been permanently deleted. They are programmed to take in money, but rarely ever do you win anything big on these machines. I am a gambler. So, I realize that the odds of losing far outweigh the chances of winning. However, even given these long odds, one would still hate to think that machines are unfairly rigged. Yet, of all the neighboring casinos, The Majestic is the lowest paying. Lastly, it appears that whenever there is a promotional drawing, many will attest to the fact that very few, if any jack pots, or huge prizes are won during this promotional time. I have conducted my own personal studies on this by talking to others during these periods of time. Oddly, minutes after the final drawing, you will then start to notice a few who will begin to win. It gives me pause, and I now begin to time my arrival to after drawings are held. While promotional cash is given to some in the form of scratch offs, and swipes of the card at the kiosk machines, but rarely does one ever win more than the bare minimum amounts advertised. They say that you can win from $5 to $10,000, yet, I have yet to see ANYONE EVER win this amount using them. What I have noticed is this: When I had increased amounts of promotional cash available, my swipes at the various kiosks were increased. My Mystery Cash was increased, and this is definitely not fair. To be fair to all, should not the one who plays nominally, have just as much of a chance of their name being called in a drawing, or their chance at winning an increased promotional cash amount at the kiosk? It seems as if the hand is sleighted to those who spend larger amounts of money. If you play more and lose more money on a regular or routine basis, I notice that your chances of having your name called or pulled in a drawing is increased. But, I have been on both sides, and oddly, my name has only EVER been called once, years ago, for a Ipod, and Beats headphones. I never win in these drawings, and this is definitely not something that makes me come to this casino. If not for the potential to earn promotional cash, or points towards comp points, I personally, would never use my card in any machine while playing. I have won four jackpots this year, but unfortunately, because the machines are so very tight, the total losses STILL far outweigh the aggregate dollar amount won overall. In essence, I would NOT recommend the Majestic Casino to anyone. Unless you just want to lose your money, and have no other choice, I would say, STAY AT HOME. The rooms at the hotel are average. There is nothing that stands out that makes it exceptional, thus the three star rating I am giving and that is a stretch. It is only a place that you would go if you absolutely hated the Ameristar, and the neighboring Horsheshoe Casino. The only way to improve this casino is to remember the purpose. People like to be entertained, and they like to have GREAT customer service, GREAT FOOD and GREAT MUSIC. Finally, because it is not a charitable event . . . the ultimate reason that people come to casinos is because every now and then . . . they want to win!!!!!

You never know what to expect from the dealers. Some are friendly and welcoming while others seem not to care if you have a pleasant experience. Some dealers seem more concerned with socializing and engaging with fellow dealers and staff than attending to their job of dealing to customers. Carpeted areas are often dirty. Elevators are dirty and slow. Winning is very hard.
