Absolute garbage. Stick to sony vegas and other platforms. Music maker doesnt support mp3 importing unless you pay them 10 dollars. Ridiculous! Movie studio is soso at best and has very little in effects customization.

Rubbish software(Studio 15 Platinum), unstable, crashes and poor service from Magix. It cannot import 4k media onto the timeline without crashing, Their DVD Architect...same trash!!, also unstable and bombs out.I eventually bought another brand to continue my editing on my machine and it worked 100%, proving its their software that's CRAP.

I`m usually pretty quick to report bad support or service if I suffer it, so its only fair that I also point out good service when I receive it.
I`m aware that Magix doesn`t seem to have a sparkling reputation either here or on their own forums, but I have to report that I was quietly impressed with the support I received.
Back last year, I bought a software bundle of Magix products from Humblebundle, for a very low price. One of the included programs didn`t work for me,(due not to Magix or the software I must add, but because of one of Microsofts forced updates, which irredeemably broke my copy..).
I contacted them and after an exchange of emails they offered me a $50 coupon, (even when I told them that I had originally bought the software at a big discount.
This week I tried to redeem the coupon, but found the website was not accepting it, so I opened another ticket for advice.
The Engineer who replied to me spotted the issue immediately, (as the coupon was in dollars, it would not work on our GB site). He provided the correct link and even offered to replace the coupon with several smaller value coupons in order to widen the scope of my purchase, if needed. (i.e. soundpools and instruments instead of software).
When I tried the coupon in the US site I completed my purchase easily, so this proved unnecessary.
Ralf, (the Magix agent that dealt with me), went out of his way to help me, despite my original purchase having already been at a discount. I came away with software, far in excess of what my original money would have bought for me, and a high opinion of the support I received.
Credit where credit is due, so well done Ralf & Magix.

Not for professionals. This is not suitable for serious works, even with the pro versions of their software. We've never experienced so poor quality in any other software. It doesn't matter the industry or the activity, Magix can't offer any trusted solution. And this is not new. We knew about this company some years ago, and reviews were never extremely good. We decided to test their software anyway, and that was the worst decision.
Not recommended even for beginners. It will crash, break your project or let you down at any moment.

Magix purchased the Vegas Pro video product line from Sony. The product is impressive in some regards, but limited in others. Primarily, it can't compete well with Adobe suite, because all their apps integrate, whereas Magix has only limited export options to Adobe apps.
This would be far more tolerable if their support staff was better resourced and trained.
What I mean is that support responses take a week. Their is near zero proactiveness, e.g. if their software has a bug, their attitude is clearly that it's your problem, and they never even indicate that they'll fix an issue.
Consider also that their support-system itself is riddled with bugs. They are seemingly fighting a war with their own ability to respond in a timely manner and communicate clearly with users.
Check their support pages ... can you guess where the contact form is? Probably not too easily, because they've (intentionally?) changed the link to black text, likely in some half-baked attempt to get you to try their FAQ first (which is full of broken links).
After you log into your support account, they also, unlike nearly every other support portal, don't even prefill your account (name, etc) and product info into their forms. Like wouldn't it be step A to only show users what's relevant to the products they actually own (or at least make the other stuff a "click here for info on other products link").
Honestly, Premiere is a bit of an uphill slog, but the reward in terms of standards is far greater.
Magix codecs support some industry-standard features on import, however they lose these on export. So if you reimport into Vegas (using the same codec you just exported with), the app fails to read it.
Their product marketing is also very misleading, you essentially have to email them to confirm what's actually included in a package, and then further ask them if these included things are just "lite" or limited versions.
I'd say for prosumer level service their products may be okay (bloggers, wedding production, etc), but for any serious work, no way. Which is sad because some of their workflows are tremendously more straight forward and well thought out than Adobe's.

Magix, a brilliant company for taking your money for a product that doesn't work then ignoring your messages on Facebook.
I have been using Magix for 10 years and my recent video editor suddenly started playing back videos at 4 frames per second which made editing impossible so I was forced into upgrading the software.
Once I paid the fee and upgraded, I installed the program but the Vasco Da Gama and ProDAD Vitascene V3 are failing to install. I cannot email through their website as it says my "last registered product is too old" which makes no sense as it's their latest product downloaded just 24 hours ago and requires me to purchase an email support voucher for £9.99 (what a joke) so I messaged them through Facebook and got a r3tarded response as they clearly didn't read my message.
I have messaged again which they have read and ignored.
Is this how you treat a customer who's been with you for 10 years?
I have now decided to proceed with further action to recover my payment from these scammers.

I bought the software, and there was a problem with it. I contacted customer service, and they replied by email the next day, asking what the problem was. I immediately replied, and waited 2 days for their response. They suggested basic troubleshooting, which I had already done, as it was included in the help files.I immediately replied, and it took them another day or 2 to get back to me. This went on for almost a month, and I finally gave up and asked for my money back. They did refund my money, but there was no hint of an apology anywhere through the entire process.

Their web design software is quite good. BUT - their customer service is THE WORST! I bought Web Designer 365 Premium in 2016. Lost my S/N during a transfer from an old laptop to a new one. Tried to contact Magix customer service - First, it's hard to find their customer service. Second, they want your to pay $5 for a "voucher" just to ask a question. I tried to contact them thru their Twitter page and got responses from someone who seemed completely disconnected from what is actually on the Magix website. NO HELP!

MAGIX MUSIC MAKER and Samplitude are basically good ideas extremely poorly executed. I’ve used MAGIX’s music products for .. decades. Started back in the 90’ies and have bought versions of MMM or Samplitude now and again.
Their approach to the customers has been the same throughout all years. Unleash your music monster magically with MAGIX’s music apps.
And in all honesty, MAGIX apps are: You're promised a beautiful horse for your birthday, but when the day arrives you realise it’s a hamster and it’s dead.
These apps are FULL of flaws and poor execution. Lately MMM has become a sort of the creative inapt app, MAGIX promises you through purchases in the in-app-shop - will unleash all your creativity.
Then after a few minutes with your new purchase you realise … no, I still can’t realise my musical dreams with this app.
MMM used to have some fun music synthesizers. Those are gone now. It’s only medium-high quality premade samples and midi. Their midi instruments are actually quite good, but the midi handling of these is … way-way behind industry standards. They still use the midi editor, they introduced back in the 90’ies. Actually, if you dive into the folders and files MAGIX uses, you realise that some are indeed created back in the 90’ies. A bit frightening, tbh.
Automation in MMM is basically completely federcarp. It’s a bit better in Samplitude, but one can’t always make it work as intended.
MAGIX also has extreme issues with audio and midi output handling … this is non understandable for me. I’ve used and tried and tested more than 10 different DAWs in my lifetime, and the only apps with latency issues are… MAGIX’s (latency = the sound chop chop during playback or recording).
And yes, they do want to install a pop-up on your desktop called MAGIX CONNECT. You now have the option in the installation process to omit this app.
So why do I keep buying MAGIX products. My first DAW. Still have the feeling in my body and heart with this app I can be creative. Human flaw, I guess. Keep thinking “This time they’ve fixed it…”, but no :/
I would recommend anyone who wants to make / create music to look elsewhere (apx 100€): FL Studio, Reaper, Mixcraft, Sequel3, Reason

I've purchased Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum for many years. Then Magix bought them, and as typical with Magix customer service plummeted. Sony Vegas Movie Studio is a good product, however anything that Magix touches has terrible support or service. No exception here. Too bad a good name like Sony has to be tainted by such an awful name like Magix. After nearly 10 years as a loyal customer, I've put up with Magix long enough. Now is time to find a supported video editing product.

This company is a scam. The second they move on to a new program (let's say you had 2016, and they just released 2017) your version will quit working and you will be forced to buy the new version if you want to keep working on your tunes. The customer support is arrogant and condescending, if they can even be reached. Not worth your time or money. There is better software in the same price range that won't discontinue service for previously released versions.

As other reviewers have mentioned, when you buy a product with the update service you get updates for a year. However, you can only download those updates while the update service is active. So, despite having paid for a year's worth of updates you cannot download them after the twelve-month period - even though they were released when your update service was active. Worse still, if you ever have to reinstall the software after the update service has expired, perhaps because you bought a new computer, you can only install the version of the software as it was when you bought it. You are not allowed any of the updates that were released during the twelve months after purchase. Avoid.

Not only did they kill Vegas, once arguably the best video editing software in the world, they have the most difficult customer "service" and billing system I've ever experienced since 1983. A perfect example of corporate greed eradicating creative genious. I'm sorry I ever heard of Magix.

I've been buying Magix software for years. They're my favorite when it comes to graphics (drawing), video, and music. Just updated Music Studio 2016 (which came with MusicMaker Live 2016), to Samplitude Music Studio 2019 for $59 Canadian after using the Trial edition for a few weeks (Magix does give you 30-day Free Trials of their software, so I don't trust reviews that complain when they had 30-days to test drive the product to see if they like it or if it crashes on their system). Also, have Photo & Graphic Designer 12 Steam edition. You can still download the free edition of Independence Pro sampler workstation with 2GB of samples included. It's pro software (ahead of its time) with Convolution reverb and a virtual room to position instruments in 2d (the graphics aren't as fancy as modern reverb & virtual room software, but who needs or wants to pay $199 USD when I downloaded Independence completely free. I do wish Independence Pro Premium (70GB) was selling for a much(!) lower price. I don't work for Magix or have anything to do with the company other than buying their software over the years.
You can buy & download older versions of Magix Software at downloadbuyer.com for greatly reduced prices. But the new Samplitude MS 2019 is now 64bit instead of 32bit.

2019 Music Maker Magix Premium Software is quite good however:
- when I bought another update, they sent me 32bit instead 64bit
- program is crashing constantly and in most times DOES NOT SAVE BACKUP COPY what is the worst. I lost Hours if new music. They sent me vouchers, which is nice, however that did not get me my lost projects.
- customer service basically DOES NOT EXIST... I tried to contact them in order to speak to someone... without success.
- in 2019 version my midi keyboard stopped working which is terrible.
If you want to produce music professionally... stay away from MAGIX!

Magix is always offering a deal with a large savings. However this seems to roll over every month. Furthermore don't buy the software in the summer. I bought a copy in July, and discovered the 'deal' missed out their usual bundled software. 3 weeks later they announced the new version at the same price, with the usual bundle, but their update service didn't provide this. So I was foolish to buy when I did … perhaps you'll have the same problem when you grab their 'deal' that you'll feel short-changed within weeks.
So don't buy this in the summer … you might find you've just bought dud old software, and ignore their 'deals' as the price seems to stay the same all the time, but to get around the law, they bundle in and out trialware software.
For the software itself, it is powerful, but all their promises of pre-sets are not at the same quality that you'd see, say, from the likes of Apple or other companies. Therefore you'd need to rebuild all their presets to be high quality.
The User interface is really dated now and it's complex to use. They don't use standard Windows short-cuts, nor the design language of windows, so it feel all a bit odd and slow to work out how to use the product. Even on the a high speed PC, the user interface is slow.
Also note the other comments about the update service. You get the version you bought at the start of the year, and if you install it on any PC after that year, you lose ALL the bug fixes you were entitled since the purchase. They are almost driving you towards an annual repurchase.

Awful UX during installation, disastrous outdated programs. I was lucky to buy them for really small amount of monney. But the most disgusting thing is fricking pop-ups and advertisements they installed with software. I really have 0 respect for them! Too bad SONY is not the owner of this software anymore. Optimization of software is catastrophic.
