I first wrote how bad this company was a year ago. It seems that they have actually gotten worse. How this company did that, is any ones guess. They should be thrown in jail, not continue operating. They are a pack of thieves. There is no point reading reviews and then ignoring them. There are hundreds of reviews about this corrupt company, yet people still rent cars from them. DON'T be another statistic, DO NOT use this company!!!

Please don't use this company. Pay the extra buck and rent from one of the trusted ones.

So i got scammed. Small print they had added an extra - pay for full tank of fuel, return empty. Of course i didnt ask for this and returned the car full of fuel. Left before 8am (opening time) so got charged 70 euro. I have of course complained to them - nothing. It gets worse - 3 months later I have now been charged another 48 euro - why, who knows. This company takes your money and then takes some more - beware!

We were going for 4 days to Rome and Maggiore was the perfect solution for us to rent a car - good deal & not as expensive as the other rental companies... Joke's on us! AFTER we came back, they overcharged us and we had to pay 200 euro extra (no sorry the word is they STOLE 200 euros from us as they deducted this from our credit card without us knowing! THIEFS!!!! NEVER rent a car from this company as they are way to incompetent to even come to the phone or speak proper English...

Maggiore is extremely disorganised!! I booked a car online from the airport in Genoa. I was supposed to pick it up on Friday evening, but when I arrived at the airport the office was closed. I called the customer service and they told me that they had tried to contact me, which was the first lie, and they told me to go to another place in Genoa (corso Sardegna) the next morning, which was the beginning of a big adventure. When I arrived at the office in corso Sardegna the next morning, the owner told me that I cannot get any car from there as according to him my contract for some reason was not valid, which all turned out not to be true. What is more, he tried to sell me an additional contract for twice the price. We contacted the customer service immediately and had the owner talk to them, who started fighting about the issue. In the end, after calling the customer service for at least 10 times I got a car 13 hours late, which ruined my trip.

We went to Italy in October 2019 and prepaid the rental car. The people at the desk were nice and offered some additional insurance. We added some which we may not need. The issue came when we returned the car. We made sure we refuel it to full tank. We were asked to signed something in Italian, said to be the receipt. They charge for refuelling. This seems to be what they do from all other review. We tried to dispute it to no avail. If we would have known about this refuelling scam, we would have taken pictures etc. We paid the fuel in cash just to spend our leftover Euro so no credit card receipts. They have been sending me emails that I have tickets and stuff and will charge me 40 Euros just by reviewing it. When we go to the link, it is a broken link. We did not get any tickets and parked the car in the parking garage. Please find another car rental. Total scam.

On 21/12/2019, I went to maggiore desk in Bergamo airport, to get an already paid car for my Christmas vacations. The lady in the desk didn’t accept my credit card because she thought it wasn’t mine, a credit card I use everyday!!! First time in my life someone doesn’t believe what is written, or she just didn’t want to give me a car. Go figure...
That of course cost me time and money so don’t bother go for that company there are many other offers with “sane” employees.

Almost perfect case
I did rent a car with Maggiore at the Fontanarossa Airport (Catania) from 02 October until 26 October 2019.
Almost perfect: quite cheap, nice car, no any unexpected fees.
Only one case comment: I sent photos of one non registered scratch to the office by E-mail ([email protected]), but they never answered me. However, they registered it when I was in the office. No fees for the scratch.
Thus, I really cannot understand, why so many negative reviews?
Regards, Leonid.

The car was a newish Lancia which I had chosen when I booked online. It was clean and tidy. However I was convinced at pickup that I must take the extra insurance. I was a lone female and not sure what to do so I paid the extra which doubled the cost of the weeks rental. The check out clerk also tried to up sell me a bigger car and when I declined as I was alone she then tried to up sell to an automatic! Because if this I wouldn’t use this company again.

Horrendous car rental company. They pass car with no damage marked on contract. You need to check the car but there is no one to confirm the damage so you have to rely on photos. We had to check car in the dark in a very badly lit car park. The first car we were given had no working front light. After sighs, attitude and aggression from the staff (Sasha!) and being told ‘it’s a rental car you should expect it’ they changed the car. We then got to the exit only to find we hadn’t been given a ticket to exit. A third trip back to the counter and further rude and aggressive staff. On return no one was there and no instructions as to what to do with keys. Overall an awful experience one which made the end of a lengthy journey even worse. Most definitely would not recommend

I rented 1 car for 3 days through the website: EconomyCarRentals.com, for which I should pay the amount of: 118.30 €.
On the agreed day, he went to Maggiore's desk, not requesting any change to the initial contract (EconomycarCarRental), after almost 2 months, "I am informed" when I see the credit card statement, which after all the value of 118.30 € Now it is 307,24 €, apparently the document I signed at the counter of MAggiore was a new contract (in Italian) unsolicited, for which I will pay triple the amount initially contracted, about 310,00 €, just do not know who received and what was the destination of the amount paid 32.41 €, which was paid through the EconomycarCarRentals website, will be the commission ?. Was fooled by maggiore, I did not request any change with initial contract.
Be careful with these mobster companies ...
It was swindled by maggiore because it did not comply with the initial contract and I did not request any change of it.

This company is a fraud! Please, try to avoid car rental from Maggiore, especially at Bari airport. I had my reservation from rentalcars.com but I finally overpaid it three times because they charged me insurance that I did not want and even did not ask for! When I tried to solve this problem, rentalcars.com were really helpful but Maggiore ignored all my emails.

Absolutely rubbish...stay away from Maggiore...the guy who picked up my car whose name is Marco said that customers are shi...t..
There is an ongoing claim against the company and this individual...also...don't let Maggiore rob you...if you have an insurance purchased online , do not buy another one when picking up you car...that is a robbery..

Be careful!
They do not return the security deposit. And after three months, another € 50 is removed from your card, with no explanation. Just use your bank card codes.

This company is horrible, they took more than they said during the reservation and added me upsells I was not even aware off and never requested, they never indicated it anywhere and refused any kind of assistance with this. The most horrible company ever!

NEVER rent a car from Maggiore, terrible experience! I´ve been to Rome on July, the car category I had booked wasn´t available, the options were to get a lower category for the same price (!) or to get an AT for double price! Front desk person absolutely rude and call center didn´t help either. Choose ANY other company, but Maggiore

We were charged 190 euro for a little scratch on the PLASTIC COVER OF THE WHEEL, it wasn't even visible from more than 10cm from the wheel so we are not shure it wasn't there from the start. For god sake it was a cheap plastic cover not an alloy wheel!

Dishonest.
I did not have comprehensive insurance unfortunately and someone keyed the car I had hired from them. They confirmed Euros 267.00 damage when I dropped off the car, the employee told me "not to worry" that he could not charge me straight away because he was busy and that an email with the invoice would have followed once I returned home. He made me sign a piece of paper saying I acknowledged the damage.
A few days later once back home I received an email from them with the invoice for Euros 320.00!!!!! Dishonest!!!!
I wrote them emails asking for an explanation, they never replied. I wrote again asking for the name and email address of the branch manager, never a reply. I wrote to their complaint office in their headquarters, never a reply. Totally untrustworthy!!!!
Don't risk it, buy somewhere else even if the price is higher.
Shame on you Maggiore Alghero.

Returned our car and they charged us €30 to replace the hubcap and a €68 admin fee. Our video taken in the carpark at beginning of hire clearly shows it missing, however, this meant nothing to them.
Raised issue again with them upon return and they are ignoring us.

TOTAL SCAM - please for your own sake and welfare, STAY AWAY from this company. Book a car from Maggiore Catania airport, upon arrival and check-in, they told me: No more cars available...
A private car took us to our B&B in Bronte (45km away) with the promise we would have a car the next day. The following day, we followed up via telephone several times. Local office (at Catania airport) did not answer the phone. The Maggiore head office (customer service) told us: Not our problem! We will just give you a refund and you can make your own way (still being in Bronte without a car). An absolute SCAM, total DISGRACE and I would not trust them after they lied several times, both in person and on the phone. How can these maffiosi companies stay in business??

Avoid La Maggiore.
They charged me €625 for alleged damages to the car without giving me any evidence or information. Although I immediately called them to confirm that the car was returned in the same conditions I took it, they couldn't give me any detail of the damage and the amount was promptly taken from my credit card without any further investigation.
After several calls and emails to different departments, their customer service system is designed to make you desist from chasing them, they finally admitted that there was a mistake and that I would have been reimbursed within maximum 30 days. After 45 days I haven’t received any reimbursement or late payment notification. They just keep my money without any justification.
I’ve no choice but to sue them for embezzlement. In the mean time I take little satisfaction by writing them this bad review.

Just had a letter in the UK from Maggiore claiming we had damaged a car we hired from them in Nice (we most certainly did not).
There was no one at the rental desk at the airport at the time of our flight so we had to leave the keys in their deposit box, which we are entitled to do, together with a note about which bay it was parked in.
We went round the car with a proverbial fine tooth comb and it was as spotless as the day of our hire.
Yet we still had a bill many months later in the UK for 148 Euros for "damages".
Absolutely scandalous and entirely untrue.
Update: In August 2019 they are still chasing us by post for payment of their illegal invoice. Unbelievable.
