Danish shipping company Maersk hit headlines earlier this year when it launched the largest ever eco-friendly shipping pilot. Powered by biofuel made from used cooking oil, the cargo ship’s maiden voyage saw it travel from Rotterdam to Shanghai and back in July, saving an estimated 1.5 million kg of CO2. The firm aims to be carbon neutral by 2050, and biofuels are one of the ways in which it may achieve this.

I used Maersk to ship my household from Spain to Mexico. I reached out to them because I believed that the customs agency that I was dealing with was being corrupt and dishonest. This agency would make excuses as to why my container had to wait yet another day to be released. They would 'lose' paperwork which I had submitted several times, make mistakes on documents causing another few days of delay, and even accuse me of not sending them payments although I had sent them wire transfer receipts many times. All of these incidents were causing me to rack up thousands of dollars in storage fees, so my suspicion was that they were sharing those profits with the storage facility. When I called on Maersk for help to remedy the situation, they did so immediately- even calling me on Christmas Eve. Maersk truly cares about its customers. And Maersk does not tolerate corruption or dishonesty.
If I ever have the need of this kind of service, I will call on them because they have won my trust.
