You are taking a big gamble when buying from John Pye especially electrical items, there is no guarantee that they will work out of the 10 items I have bought only 1 worked, my advice pay a little bit extra and have things that are fit for purpose.
It costs you more money in the long run buying from John Pye, you also have to dispose of the rubbish you buy

I have left a critical review about this company before - then I pointed out the poor description of goods (I bought an office chair that should have been described as incomplete as it lacked the parts necessary to make it a "chair).
This time I am warning about the bidding process. I just paid too much for an item because I put in a big bid. It was one computer among 10 identical units. All of them were the same. They all went for around £121-125 except the one with a high bid (mine) that finished the auction at £140. I don't believe this is a coincidence. If I hadn't been at work I would have watched the items and placed my high bid on the PC at £121 - any logical buyer would have done the same. Why would they have risked paying over the odds for the one I bid on? There is no good explanation. So, if you want an item don't over-bid or you will over-pay!

i would like to hear from anyone who would like to get there own back on this auction site they sell flat packed items that are not complete and tell you you should veiw the item well if thats the case if a dozen or so people go to every veiwing open as many boxes as possible take out the items to check that all the peices are there and in the case of large items like wardrobes could be dozens of peices knowing that the items will not go back in the boxes as they come out and the boxes will not seal up as they did this action if done over and over would cause mass inconvenience to the staff when they would probably only have a matter of hours to reseal all the boxes befote auction time they need to get there act in order and stop ripping people off.

I am a regular here, often come with friends or family and I have to give credit to Ash (the giant guy) as he’s the most helpful, dedicated and professional guy there! Anything I needed, any help, and he goes above and beyond and has brilliant charisma! I’ve often seen him do the same with other member of the public while I’ve seen others do the opposite. The items on auction I’ve found to be great & saves you a load of money rather than buying from leading wholesalers!

I have bought several items over the last few weeks from Chesterfield.
5 sets of gaming headsets- for myself and friends, didn't feel right passing them on as plastic head band broken, couldn't tell on rubbish photo of them in box.
Vibration plate- for patio sub base had been carefully dismantled and repacked in original box but doesn't work.
Pole saw- Described as a pole saw but no chain saw head or battery which is supposed to be included.
How do they expect repeat custom when they accept companies dumping stuff that has been returned not working into the auction.
Buy with extreame caution. You have been warned.
Im not buying anything else from them!! Finished

A company that sells broken goods. More than happy to promote the recommended retail price of item to boost sell price, but would not mention the fact the item is broken or heavily used .

We have used John Pye for a few years now & after moving to Chesterfield in June was pleased to see an auction house here.
In the last few months we have spent alot of money with them buying bargains, until 19/9/19
We purchased several items, Now I'm aware that it's sold as it lies, but 1st item - parts missing, this renders it unable to use, until these parts are purchased. This wasn't mentioned on auction description & box was sealed.
2nd item - this is Dangerous & should not of been sold, the main wire had been cut & is not repairable as it's a sealed unit, again in a sealed box. I requested a full refund on this item as dangerous & should not of been sold. Refund Refused
3rd item - Parts missing again not mentioned in auction description & in a sealed box.
4th Item - Has an EU plug, again not mentioned in auction description & in a sealed box.
We appreciate the items that require replacement parts is the chance you take at auction. But the 2nd item is about as much use as a chocolate fireplace & should not of been offered forsale.
After speaking to several staff members & emailing. Eventually Customer Services called me back & basically said tough, apparently the boxes can be opened on viewing day, this is not necessarily the case. Have to have a member of staff with you & finding one is like rocking horse ####. On collection day the checkout member of staff who gets you to sign for goods received. Apparently that signature also says that you've checked everything is correct & as it should be. They will not except any responsibility for selling dangerous electrical items. Absolutely disgusting, no other company would get away with this.

Guys watch out and I repeat watch out, John Pye is a serious "SCAM", most of items sold are in an unusable state most at time toulk get garbage. Buying from John Pye is like playing the lottery or using a slot machine, the odds to get something worth anything is almost zero. Bought stuff worth about £4000 almost all of it is garbage, I mean garbage.
BEWARE John Pye will ruin and mess you up, trust me you will be not getting a bargain.

Second time around with this 'company' - everything I bought didn't work (except a tripod) - £200.
Honestly I gave them the benefit of the doubt last time but same untested crap. Body swerve this auction site - don't be tempted.
If you could get less than 1 star - i would have given that.

Stay Away From JohnPye Auctions
I bought irons from JohnPye auction. What I have received from them I couldn't believe my eyes. Let me say this, if you were desperate for an iron and had no means to buy one for yourself, and someone comes to you offering a free iron amongst of the ones I was sent, I bet you, you wouldn't accept it. How on earth a multi million company like JohnPye to even thing auctioning something like that, which were supposed to be binned. I advised anyone considering bidding anything from JohnPye auction to think twice, either to physically go and see what you are bidding for or even consider buying something from eBay. I have always bought stuff from eBay and I have never been disappointed like I have been with JohnPye,
So my advise is, do yourself favour stay away from JohnPye auctions.

I have just brought a La Banus Chronograph from John Pye, advertised as RRP of £550, when I got it non of the Chronograph dails worked (fake).
I had the watched values & was told a top value of £30. Why are john Pye allowed to do this, this must be classed as miss selling, why are they allowed to do this.

Want to bid on broken tat? - Go to view auction - never bid online! You have no rights. We won a bid an on the bed, described as this king-size (it was not) selling for circa £1500 from Feather & Black, only 3 of 4 legs? one side snapped in half and no slats to support the mattress. (Also filthy). Can't be used.
Pointless customer service - and no consumer rights.
Too good to be true - yes - see other reviews.
340 of 740 customers rate John Pye Auctions as Bad *26/9/17

This company have zero customer service, ask a question no response other than we cannot answer, this is in itself an answer which suggests you would not like it so we just don't give it. Please buy with great caution, fees of 44% self collection, long waits at each saleroom you buy from, no getting it in one you must q at each room for each item this can take hours. Bought a sealed box and when opened it had obviously been very well resealed as there was a form inside that said items had to be returned to manufacturer as they were all defective. Be very very careful ask questions no response walk away.

I was a bit dubious after seeing such reviews, but have to say I am so very happy with my purchases, the staff that I communicated with via Chesterfield and Marchington were very helpful they replied back to my emails, and courier request promptly, none of my items are broke I have got a beautiful glass shade in perfect condition, furniture is lovely Can't fault for a auction site and I will be definitely purchasing again

I would like to thank Sharon at Chesterfield Customer Services for her kind help in sorting out an issue with a lot bought last week.
I am very happy now with the situation and will be returning to continue bidding for lots in the future.

i'm not going to buy any more from this auction again, bought several items with missleading pictures and description of the items, amd ryzen cpu with broken pin, gaming chair with holes all over the places hidden with other things on top of it, garden swing chair with missing items and the list goes on, it's dodgy how the auction sistem works. waste of time and fuel, not worth buying, too many fees and vat.

Rip of merchants selling broken and unusable goods. They say sold as seen and buyers should inspect before they buy, but this really isn't good enough. It's all very well inspecting the item, but if they do not tell you where the items come from I don't see how you can know what to expect. If it's just static items you can see, but washing machines and dishwashers. How can you verify they work. You might as well go down the tip and get a broken dishwasher because that's what you'll get from John Pye and pay for it

Bought a car from the South Wales office, the car was entered into the Auction by a Car Trader from the minute I picked it up the car was Faulty.Contacted John Pye within 7 days and they offered me nearlly half of what I had paid for it.I have incurred costs by having it inspected and to insure it etc and they will not reimburse me the full price I paid. They said they had already paid the seller ,however there terms state they do not pay for 4 weeks. The trader sold it illegally, if I drive it or sell it I will be committing an offence under the road traffic act.I paid just short of £7000 for a car that was allowed to be sold through this Auction Company and they offered me £4000 back and the return of the car ,to undoubtably sell on again .Has this happened to anybody else.

I bought a chair that was described as slightly damaged, a scratch I thought perhaps? No the chair only had 3 legs - no use to me what so ever, the photo gave no clue to it being not fit for purpose
