Called several companies locally asking costs and terms for a mixer rental. Mr Tuting gave me ONE price, and to close the deal, agreed to extend it for a weekend.
Good deal on the sound of it.
He quoted two days hire dropoff and collect fri mon.
I was concerned with late call back to take deposit, and Mr Tuting taking two payments on the card, thats £300 taken in error, but by this time it was too late to find an alternative, so I paid dep cash.
Mixer dirty, late delivery, collection on tue, poor communication, but I got to do what i needed so these things are not life changing. My intention, get my deposit balance and never use again.
So go to get my deposit back and bang, the costs has changed.
Vat was added, and an additional cost for transformer.which increased the cost by 32%.
1) He presumed i would factor VAT, because Jewson is, well Jewson. It was clear at quote i was a private.
Okay VAT has to be paid, but private sales ALWAYS has vat already added at quotation, or mentioned. Or at least a professional would say....
2) NO breakdown of costs on the invoice, just a total amount and less money. When requested breakdown thats when Mr Tuting and manager became uncooperative and rude.
3) bad service from beginning to end is one thing, but wow i been swindled.
And just in case your reading this Mr Tuting, I can recommend 2 companies local to your branch that rents mixers, WITH the transformer cost included.
Jewson I am going to tell as many people as possible about the bad service as my way of compensation, as your manager would not even discuss discrepancies.
Do not be taken in by fast talking rental reps too busy to be professional, and definitely stay away from Jewson Haringey as even the manager has no interest in listening to grievances..

Jewson Derby - I was third in the queue and when the man got to me he asked if he could serve the two regulars after me. I assumed he already dealt with them and knew it would just take a minute...no, he just thought they were real workmen and I was just a woman and so I could wait behind men...you know, good to know our place.
Never again. Went to another place and got great service so he did me a massive favour and I also saved £80. Win for me.

Complete moron....absolutely no consideration for local residents. Jewson should be ashamed that they've hired a complete neanderthal to do their delivery's.

Had applied for a job at Jewsons and got an interview. Decided that the company state one thing and do another and expect everything but pay the basics. Well not for me. Branch manger also doesn't reply to emails so a very lucky escape for me.

Avoid Jewson & its customer service like a plague!
Having employed the services of Jewson for a complete kitchen design, purchase together with associated NEF kitchen appliances, our journey has not been plain sailing as the washing machine door completely dropped off after three months use.
We contacted Neff, they sent an engineer around, had a good look, stated never seen a machine with door dropping off, need a new door and body. A week later the engineer contacted us to say it will be another week before he can get the part. As we had already been without a machine for three weeks, this was not acceptable and we contacted the NEFF customer service who agreed to replace it but we had to contact the retailer Jewson and nothing more NEFF could do?! We contacted Jewson who kindly informed that it will be three weeks before we could have a replacement machine as there were none in stock?! We explained our dilemma but no one seems to care since they run off with our cash.
We thank NEFF & Jewson for their Lousy customer care!?

I have worked as a temp for a few weeks at several different branches in South Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire area as a yardman involving FLT driving, picking good for deliveries and customers Can be messy as it involves lifting heavy building materials sometimes by hand including cement, plaster etc bags the dust can end up on you. Largely outside work so weather a factor. They all vary quite a bit. Some appreciate you being there others have no team spirit, a blame culture are disrespectful with no people skills. Some of the managers and staff are good, knowledgeable, communicate, understanding, helpful and friendly with good work atmosphere other branches the opposite. I have seen more cheerful staff at a funeral,at some branches, other ones you can have a good laugh Some branches are busy others quiet. All branches always seem short staffed, with people leaving regularly or staff being temporary moved to and throw between branches. Fairly long hours and because always short staffed inflexible with holidays etc. . Long hours 7.30-5.00 Mon to Fri along with working alternate Saturdays 8.00-12.00. Plus stock take (if employee not temp) for no extra pay which can take all day. Hour unpaid lunch break (but if they're busy they may resent you taking a break). Pay not great. Free hot drinks machine with no limit to as and when you have a drink.

opened an account recently - all started well but as the weeks passed I noticed prices would fluctuate on my account for exactly the same goods. I also had to call the branch to ask why a dumper truck hadn't been collected (despite calling to take it off hire after the 7 days id booked it for) and was told the young guy i'd spoken to had forgotten to action it. Assured all would be okay but later realised they had split the invoice into 2 parts charging me for 5 days then 4 days totalling 9 days. wrote to branch and was ignored, wrote to head office and ignored, wrote to both again and ignored then threatened with debt recovery agents.
Shouldn't have to go through every item on every invoice to check what has been charged after agreeing a price for goods. It seems Jewsons assume no one does so slip through higher prices every now and again to boost their sales. I never had this problem with my other supplier: Turnbull Builders merchants so will deal with them from now on.

Ordered 5 sheets of 15ml plasterboard and 2 bags of mix last week, I'm registered disabled and asked for them to be put in covered alley way driver was rude and unhelpful and dumped them in a permit parking spot on a pallet in the rain, I called Jewsons to complain and later received a call from Richard the transport manager telling me the driver would be reprimanded and they would be giving me some sort of gesture as we're going to need more building materials, which I thought was a nice decent thing, But NO spoken to him today and attitude totally changed only reason we can see is because my Son tweeted photo of their pallet in the road, so Jewsons customer service is totally unacceptable would definitely NOT recommend them as they are Not true to their word, Not so well done Jewsons 😠

Jewson are accomplice to rip off cowboy builders. They won't show their prices which by the way are more expensive then competitors but builders use them as they get reward points that gives them free gifts and holidays and the security of knowing clients cannot find out for sure how much extra they are charging on materials costs thereby facilitating and encouraging over charging!

Absolute Joke to say their trade.
Doing up a house in Accrington, nothing to major just new heating, kitchen, bathroom and a wall or two coming down. As Jewson is the nearest "Trade" building merchants to the job (less than a mile) I thought I'd open a trade account to save me going further afield which seemed easy and no bother. I nipped in last week and got some bonding coat, multifinsh and angle bead to do a few jobs while Im waiting for the structural engineer to do his stuff etc. That evening I looked over their invoice and noticed their so called "trade" prices were even more than B&Q regular prices....WTFlip I thought! Next day sent them an email saying your taking the mick and to close the account down. Shortly after that their Accrington branch manager, Nathan phoned me up and apologised, said they had credited my account with the price difference (£10). Thanks I thought, mistakes do happen. Today I just needed some drain unblocker, B&Q used to sell One Shot for about £9 but they stopped and sulphuric acid unblocker is not so easy to get now but I noticed Jewson do some. (not that they advertise the price that is) but hey hoe I thought Id nip in as passing. Told them my trade number and was told the account had been closed. As to how you close an account with a supposedly credit on is beyond me so anyway I said I'd just pay cash for 1ltr of their Drain Unblocker. When they asked me for £18+ I laughed and walked out. Sulphuric acid drain unblocker is one of those things that costs more to ship than the contents of the pot. Ive just bought 1ltr online for £13 including shipping. Jewsons! You take the mick with your pricing and now I understand why you dont advertise your prices online and why half your pricing in-store is missing. You must see a flashing sign above customers heads when they walk in flashing "here comes a sucker". But the funny thing is and more why I'm writing this is as I've just got home I've got a letter from Jewsons congratulating me on my new trade account and it states "...Ill get favourable trade prices on more than 400,000 products and the best deals on my personalised items I use the most" Dont bother Jewson, Ive seen your "trade" prices and can say twice bitten, now shy so I'll buy my sand, cement, block, plumbing, electrical, props and everting else I need from Greengates now.

AVOID. Used the Nottingham branch (Baseford) for a cement mixer. Dealt with a chap called Justin. To get a sale he was very helpful, once deal done it was ok for the first week, then I rang up to extend for another week at which point I spoke to a guy called Lee. Lee gave me prices of which I was happy to go ahead with. Then once the 2 weeks were up they collected and they have charged nearly £30 extra. I rang up and they’re no help at all. Also they have charged £6.50 for cleaning the mixer even though we made sure it was clean before they collected it. Do not use these muppets complete waste of time!

I have read all the previous negative comments and thought that I had better differentiate between the mainland and Jewsons Kitchen Department, Trafalgar Road, Isle of Wight. We have had to replace the ovens in our kitchen and choose to go with 2 separate and very expensive ovens in the hope that they will outlive us and not need early replacement. Jewsons sent the head of their Kitchen Department to look at our requirement, at no cost and no commitment. The job required carpenters to adjust the existing cabinets and electricians to rewire and fit the new ovens. Once all aspects were agreed, we were invited to sit back and let them get on with the job, which we did and the result is absolutely top rate. The service took into account all our needs and the advice we received was excellent whilst the work force were polite, pleasant and very, very capable. We shall be using Jewsons Kitchen Dept again without any doubts or concerns

After trading with Jewson for years and spending 100k a year, I’ve had the unfortunate experience of a man called Lee.
I hired a power tool from tool hire which department I use daily got stolen.
After offering full CCTV and crime number from the police, he didn’t want to know.
Two lads pulled up at the side of one of my vans in broad day light ripped the back door open and stole the power tool and also a few of our own power tools. Lee said I’m responsible and I have to pay for a replacement, not sure how that works.
Any way do not hire anything from tool hire.

Very friendly staff at the Wetherby branch, but rip-off prices!
Bought a couple of bags of Blue Circle Postcrete for a small job and was charged £15.55, that's £7.77 each!
Got home, and checked the price online: £4.23 at B&Q and Wickes, so Jewson charged nearly TWICE the price!
This is the last time I pay rip-off prices at Jewson.

Well the Dumfries Brach does not want the custom and this is why,
Got a Quote from Barry which he told me would be held on my cash account so it could be easy tracked. Called back later was informed Barry was busy on another call requested for him to call back and left my number. No call back so recalled and then informed he had finished early informed member of staff had received Quote if I gave him my account details as saved thinking in this day an age few click of the button and all would be well to my surprise informed they don't have the code to get into said staff members computer but they could give me a new Quote no thank you as everyone knows never get the same price so asked for Barry to call me back when back in no problem. Monday came no call so re called was informed now the member of staff was out but they know my name of by heart now asked to be called back on his return yip you guessed it still waiting. So calling it a day with Jewson and my cash account and take my Custom to a Company that wants it shame on you Jewson

Far to expensive. Who is paying these prices?!. Wholesalers and diy places are far cheaper. Even with a jewson account I pay 25% more then screwfix, wickes, toolstation etc on average. Only use them if I absolutely need to. Which luckily, isn't often.

Went to Jewsons Taunton to get some timber delivered to repair garden shed floor. Was given good advice re what I needed and then all downhill from there.
Not knowing the cost of timber my gut feel was that what I wanted was expensive but the fact they could deliver 2 days later on the Wednesday meant I went with it. Made delivery arrangements and left happy. I arranged for two mates to be available on Thursday to help with the job.
Arrived home from work Wednesday evening - no timber. No phone call, no message, nothing. They shut at 5.00 so no way I could contact them. Rang first thing Thursday morning. No explanation why not delivered and I was told they would check what was happening and ring me back. Two hours later (my mates had arrived to do the job) and no phone call so I rang again. Told that I would get it that day but couldn’t say when at that point but when they knew they would ring me back. I explained the inconvenience and cost of having to send my mates home and was told they would look into what they could do and advise me when they rang back.
I had to go to work at that point but guess what? No call back! Rang AGAIN mid afternoon to be told it had already been delivered. Lots of apologies and excuses but no offer of any compensation.
Clearly they took the view I was a one off customer (no account) and not worth appeasing. As someone who works in the hospitality industry we wouldn’t be able to get away with such a shocking lack of customer service, hence this review. Until they can get their customer service to at least a minimum standard I will advise everyone to shop elsewhere - sorry.

Well done to the Hastings branch
Had my account closed by Jewsons for an unknown reason but Charlie at the Hastings Branch has helped me order twice on my cash account and ensured I have had delivery on time. He also priced competitively without having the age old battle of going back and forth. Card payment also went wrong and meant I had to go to branch to complete the order. Got there at closing time and it wasn’t a problem for Charlie who seemed genuinely happy to help out even though he should be going home.
One star off as prices at branch have been higher through the manager, 30% higher than Travis which was a little disappointing as I spend £100k+ annually at builders merchants and they know this.
Please pass feedback onto the branch so they can reward Charlie accordingly, he is consistently the most helpful and professional member of staff. A credit to your company
