Pug Puppy Scam
Found the website offering pug puppies at 50% off. Entered my info for inquiry about getting one of the puppies for my granddaughter. Received email from James Harvey asking which puppy I wanted and wanted general info about and my home composition. Several emails between me and seller in coordinating purchase of selected puppy. I was to get western union money transfer and once payment received he would provide flight details and arrangements by a courier to pick up my puppy from airport and bring her to my home. The front door courier service was for only $30 additional charge. I made the western union payment, advised the seller of payment by sending him a photo copy of the receipt. He was to call the next morning with flight departure and arrival time for my puppy. Next day, in the evening, he emails to say he wasn't able to coordinate flight as planned due to having a sick child. I replied that I understood and was fine with his promise to get all coordinated the next day. Mid-day of the next day, I receive a call from him (first time I had actually talked with him via phone) and he tells me he went to pick up money I had sent for the puppy and "...they told me you cancelled the payment". I told him I hadn't cancelled it. He then said it was okay, he would recheck with western union and the courier would be calling me to provide details on my puppy's delivery. It was at this point I began feeling a bit uneasy about the whole transaction, and began searching the Internet for any reviews on this breeder and his business. I couldn't find anything except his own website and testimonials on this site. However, in searching, I came across this website, scamguard.com, and began reading the horror stories of people being scammed through Internet puppies sales. My heart sank, I read, I prayed, and read more reports, and prayed more. 45 minutes into reading through this website, I received a call from "Western Union", who advised me that the person I had sent payment to was not authorized to send or receive money, therefore my money, including the processing fee, would be refunded at western union location. He gave me a transaction/PIN number to use for the refund of my money. At that point, I didn't know whether to believe if this guy was really with western union or not, but I went to western union location (not really expecting to get my money back), gave them my info and the # I had just received, and they refunded my money! Praise God! On the way home, I realized I had a missed call and message, which was from a "Christopher, with the courier service" asking for return call. Called him back when I got home and he asks if I had read the email he had sent me about delivery of my puppy. I played along....and told him I hadn't seen it yet. He told me to read the email and call him back to get things set up. Pulled up my email, and there it was!....my puppy's flight had been delayed because fees were needed to cover her pet ownership certificate and pet insurance, totaling $980.00, along with notice they could not ship my puppy without these additional funds. That was my confirmation of this sorry, low life, scumbag bunch of scammers!! I cried off and on for two hours afterwards - out of praise to the Lord for getting my money back, for the letdown felt by my granddaughter for not getting the puppy she had already made play for (and me, too), for being so trusting and gullible of people, and out of absolute anger at the realization that these scum of the earth people are out there taking advantage of innocent people. That was yesterday, and I've not heard another word from either Mr. "James Harvey" or "Christopher, the courier" - they knew they had been caught. I thank God over and over for His intervention in allowing me to get my money back. I know so many others have not been as fortunate.
