Stay away. They will auto-renew your subscription and then not allow any kind of refund if you don't notice within 15 days. They cancelled my account and refused my refund when I put in a support ticket. I can't stress enough that you should take your business to any other site.

download speeds measured in the kb/s. "support" that don't have a clue what is going in - continually asking the same questions over and over as though that's going to somehow magically fix the throttling they're obviously doing but won't admit to.

Dont buy iDrive for backups. Stick with a well known brand like Acronis, Veeam, or similar products.
iDrive constantly fails because it cannot find a file or folder that was present in a previous incremental backup. This is an issue because when it marks a backup as a failure it discards the backup and you cannot restore from it.

Switched from Carbonite to iDrive business and couldn't possibly be more dissatisfied. I haven't had functional/proper backups on 17 of my end user machines (and this number seems to go up daily) for 3 weeks. Tech support is slow and feckless. Time for me to go crawling back to my Carbonite rep.

OMG iDrive is the biggest POS I have ever encountered. Now I can't get the stupid icon to stop appearing in my menu bar even though I have uninstalled and deleted everything I can find. It's like an infestation. I HATE this product and after many, many requests for help no one in customer support could get it to work for me. Money wasted. Lesson learned. Should have read the reviews online first and I would never have signed up for this hellish nightmare of IDrive.

Disastrous. Depending on when you signed up, there are different portals with different levels of functionality. They just don’t care about upgrading customers on the older portal. The application is also old and clunky. Support is useless. When a PC crashed and I needed to restore some files and the app would not connect to their servers from my secondary computer, they first wanted me to change the password, when the issue was clearly not password-related, then they told me it was on their end and it would take to up to 48 hours to fix. This is a backup system?

This service is terrible. It cannot do what is needed and the support people give answers to queries that do not meet the problem and are full of jargon.

Ok . lets start with the bad!! Oh wait i havent encountered anything bad for 2 years. Reviews on here are terrible and please dont let them put you off. i have used google drive , onedrive and crashplan but will stick to idrive. The main issues people are raging about on here are over usage. Its the same as any data plan. make sure you are future proof. get more than you need to make sure you get no extra costs. 5tb personal use is better than any other deal so i got that. I backup my phone, wifes phone and my pc. No issues what so ever. The interface is more detailed than cloud storage but what you are getting with idrive is both backup and storage. The only thing i would suggest is that if you are using it for both cloud backup and storage then do not add a encrytion key . If you do then you cannot share any files. Try , enjoy and relax, There will always be negative comments but if they are not related to the software just the fact that they have gone over the limit they purchased please take it with a pinch of salt. Note. Uk does not have the fastest download and upload. To restore a 15gb on a 14mbps upload it takes roughly 4 hours. Just so you know a true timescale.
Cant fault the price or service. Im in !!

Almost every day I am greeted by the message that file backup has failed for X days (we're at 65 now). Then a link to click to send the error report. I keep reporting-- have yet to hear from anyone. Even when I try manually I get FAILURE as the message from each individual file. WHY am I paying for this? I think I may need to look into other options. The best backup software is the one that works. And so far-- this one doesn't. :(

Can't leave zero stars. I spent so much time trying to get a refund and NEVER did even though the overcharge was due to their software upgrade. What a SCAM.

Unfortunately, I've referred many of my business clients to this service. This has been the absolute worst service and customer service I've dealt with. Do not backup your ProgramData folder with this company, iDrive log files get so massive and back up that I've been charged frequent overage charges. Months later I'll get a phone call from my client questioning why they get these charges. iDrive does not care about customer service, only about taking your money. Last straw for me was an accidental renewal of service. I wanted to cancel their product and completed understood if they prorated me for the month and 3 days of usage, by all means, charge me 2-3 months of service or even a cancelation fee. They wouldn't even work with me on that. I'm moving all my clients away from this awful service. I've been using other cloud backup solutions such as Microsoft Azure Backup and never have issues like this.

Horrible, horrible customer support. I've been without backup for over a week and they can't figure out what the issue is and won't respond to emails. I don't know how a company can stay in business that doesn't seem to care about its customers.
A week later and still no resolution. I've been without backup for 3 weeks now. Pray you never have issues with iDrive.

Been a customer for about 2 years now and never had any issues. Granted I use it for personal use and not a lot of data but still never experienced an issue
I just disputed the fraudulent charges, so hopefully this will be resolved quickly.
In the meantime, STAY AWAY. I don't care what PCMag says, this site is dangerous. It didn't even function properly as a backup. The only reason I kept it is that I couldn't figure out how to cancel.

My subscription to this service expired last month, and I do not intend to renew. I have been a customer for two years, and have never seen that my system was backed up successfully to their storage.
No matter how many times I got the iDrive program working again, it would just stop running after a few days. Back when I used Carbonite, I would constantly get an error message that the "engine" had stopped working. iDrive does not issue an "engine" message, but the results are identical. I run Windows 10 and keep it updated. The iDrive problem has existed across two different PC's. None of the other programs automatically running in the background have this problem. I don't understand why iDrive cannot get such a simple function to work reliably.
My current backup solution is to do a monthly full system backup on one of the two 6TB drives I bought for the purpose. Then, it goes into the bank safe deposit box, and the one that was in the bank box comes back home so I can backup to it. For the few very critical files I have, they are automatically backed up to two of the free online services as well as to my 6TB drives. Mine is not a perfect system, but it seems to get me 99%+ of a good backup system.
Too may iDrive customers are having the same problems, so I believe the problem is on their end with poorly tested software. If they should ever get the bugs out of their system, I will likely try them again, as they do have a well structured process. But, it just doesn't work, at least not on any machine I've owned.

I signed up for a free plan to see if it was any good but soon used up the 5GB storage so was offered a speacial upgrade price of $5 per year for 5TB of storage. I clicked the upgrade storage button and entered my card details but thankfully double-checked the price.....it was $74 !!
I emailed them and was told because I had a free plan then I wasn';t eligible for the special promotional price even though I was logged in to my free account. I would definitely avoid this company

After taking over 30 hours to backup a single 64GB file, even in my company with an Internet upstream connection speed of 800 Mbit/s I e-mailed their technical support asking whether they are capping the transfer speed and they keep insisting they don't. Took the same computer to another place also with a fast connection and nothing changed. Installed their software into another computer and got the same slooooowness. Tested transferring the same file using a competitor online storage service (which by the way also offers FTP transfer) and it took 1/5 of that time. I am cancelling my account and not looking back.

"Your files and folders are currently unavailable as account is under maintenance. Try again later."

IDrive support has been contacted several times, and no solutions , i'm paying a service that is not working

I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews here. I was thrilled to see iDrive offer 5 TB for personal use as I have a lot of video files. I was previously using Wasabi (great service, but more enterprise pricing) and paying a lot more for essentially cold storage of archived vids. I'm on a Mac & I use Drobo 5N2 (NAS) for local back up along with a few external drives. My first back up of 3.7 TB ran about 18 hours, mostly overnight. No complaints so far! Software is easy to use. While I'm not using it for daily back ups (we have a family iCloud account which ROCKS), I do like the ease of storing my archives without a big price tag.

Update : I have since uninstalled and reinstalled and then updated the application. It is currently working as it was, without issue.
When it was working it was working great, easy to back up and restore files. However, as of the last few days when I try to back up or restore files I am stuck in an infinite loop of "preparing file list" similar to the posts below. It does this regardless of the file size or type.

Trying to do a restore.
The message "Preparing File List" appears. It gets stuck there.

I'm having the same problem as Wm…
I'm having the same problem as Wm Montes -- trying to restore a file and the application looks like it's working but nothing ever happens. Support has been inexcusably useless so far. If you can't restore, and so-called Support doesn't, where's the value?

Have been using Idrive for 3 years now with about 50% "success", the rest of my backups are "failures". The files it fails on are OneNote backups. Does anyone know how to back up OneNote files?
And at other times I get about 100 "permission denied (13)" messages but no indication of which files are denied or why. I have tried unsuccessfully to find out what error 13 is via chat line, but my question is ignored (and I am a paying customer). They did finally send me a custom version after taking up about 3 hours of time in chat mode, but with no explanation what changes they are making. The custom version did not help the failures.
At this stage of my frustration, I am definitely on the lookout for a company with software that can deliver successful backups.
