I thought this would be a convenient way of making sure I would not run out of ink when I bought my new HP printer. You subscribe for a monthly supply of ink - cost dependent on your estimated usage.
I was charged an extra £1 for an additional 20 pages overrun, but my ink had not run out. I was sent new cartridges when my old ones were still printing as good as ever. It was turning out costly - so I decided to end my subscription. I was charged about £3.50 to leave and on the date my subscription ended, I was no longer able to print anything - my printer was locked. I had a new set of ink cartridges still wrapped that had been sent to me and they too were useless too - my printer would not accept them and just warned me I needed to subscribe to Instant Ink/HP Connect again.
I hate waste, I had to throw all 4 new cartridges away because of their ridiculous terms and conditions which I no doubt agreed to when I enrolled. That small print that no one has either the time or inclination to plough through on such minor matters... however, they annoy when they catch you out!
Like most of these great sounding offers - there is a trap. Why should you be forced to throw away cartridges before they are empty, it's waste. So I have returned to my old method of purchasing non HP cartridges at far less the price and just as easy with one-click next day delivery from a popular website. The print quality is just as good and it works out cheaper!
