I have booked through them for 3 nights some months before arrival. Yet in the free cancellation period I wanted to change my stay to 2 nights at the same hotel just arriving one day later. I did it through their site and seemed to work but I was contacted by hotels.nl staff that I should make a new reservatoin for the shorter stay and as soon as I have confirmed the new reservation they would cancel my original one. I have sent them the new reservation number within 11 minutes. Do you think they have ever cancelled the original booking? You are right: never, So the hotel charged me the first night as I have been stayed there. Great! When I have noticed it on my bank account, they refused their liability despite all facts. It is clear that it was hotels.nl"s fault and should pay me back the sum that was taken by the hotel due to the fact that they did not do their job.
Never ever again a booking with them. Worse than rentalcars.com...

I have booked a really nice apartment in Delft. The offer was about 40 € cheaper than all other sites. In the end hotels.nl did not inform about the cleaning fee until booking confirmation.
This is really bad business practices, so no recommendation at all. Booking.com and others offer the same prices in the end and are far more transparent.
Furthermore, the hotels.nl service fee has to be transferred separately, what does not seem very professional to me and causes extra effort.

Site may be good. But you get ripped off by the site owners. Do yourself a favor and find a decent site where customer is king. Will safe you a huge amount of money.
