I have used HostEurope for many years, and it was fine because I never needed any support. Last year I cancelled my service, I am still receiving bills from HostEurope, they simple do not answer my e-mails so I have been forced to phone them. Now I have been redirected by the customer service and have been on hold for 20 mins (after waiting 10 mins before being connected in the first place). The customer service representative did not tell me why I was being re-directed he just did and now I am waiting ... what for ? 40 minutes later and the situation is still not clear, the support desk cannot answer my questions and has to put me on hold to consult with a colleague after every question. It seems I am going to have to try to cancel AGAIN, in writing - as they have no automated system for giving up a service. Note : they make purchasing a service very easy but quitting very hard, this is a very old dirty trick that I thought had gone out of fashion, but unfortunately not.
Update : After 45 minutes - I have been informed that my cancellation request was not received, I cannot dispute this because it was a physical letter (at their request) and I did not send it registered - more fool me. Also I can now cancel via e-mail, so at least that. From their website "Domainkündigungen sind nur schriftlich möglich." - which used to mean a letter but now it seems they accept that an e-mail is written (schriftlich) :-) . This is the information on the English website BTW - it's a good job I can read German.
