Belazerd door Hertz in Zuid Afrika met verborgen/vage kosten. Hertz ziet mij nooit weer terug! Gebruik nooit Hertz!
Bij het boeken van een Toyota Corolla kreeg ik een bevestiging van Euro 127 voor 10 dagen. Na het retourneren van de auto werd Euro 511 van mijn American Express kaart afgeschreven.
Mijn klacht e-mail naar Hertz in het Engels:
On 26-09-2018, I made a reservation on [www].Hertz[dot].nl to rent a Toyota Corolla for ten days so that I can travel from Johannesburg Oliver Thambo airport to Polokwane to visit my father. The rental period was from 27-09-2018 to 07-10-2019.
On 26-09-2018, I received an email confirmation of the reservation, the amount on the confirmation was ~R 2102.00 (€ 127.41). I have rented cars before from other companies when visiting South Africa. This time however, I decided to make use of Hertz because I have an American Express card. I used my American Express card to pay for the car rental when I made the reservation.
On 27-09-2018 I flew to Johannesburg Oliver Thambo from Amsterdam and landed at about 10:00 p.m. and I went directly to the Hertz office at the airport to pick up the car.
The person behind the desk at the Hertz office asked me for my American Express card and told me that a deposit is required but it will be credited to my card (upon returning the car). This seemed a little odd to me but the fact that the deposit will be credited to my card, did not make me question this any further, quite honestly, I was tired and just wanted to get the car and drive to Centurion where I slept for the night.
After ten days I returned the car to the Oliver Thambo Hertz office in the same condition as when I received it. On 07-10-2018, I took my flight back to Amsterdam.
Upon returning to The Netherlands, I received an invoice from Hertz (# 86736750−1), with a final amount of R 8444.08 (~ € 511,75). This amount is much higher than the original amount on the confirmation, to say the least. I was expecting some extra cost but not such a high amount.
When I look at the invoice sent to me by email, I see two services that do not make any sense to me:
1. SW of R 3130,40 (10 days X R 313,04)
2. PRE-AUTH of R 2000,00
That is an extra R 5130,40 which is a very high amount. Furthermore, I was not explicitly asked by anyone from Hertz if I wanted extra services when I took possession of the car on 26-09-2018.
Can Hertz South Africa explain why there is such a huge difference between the initial confirmation amount of ~R2102 and the final invoice amount of R 8444.08? Can they explain to me why have they (extra cost lines) been added to my invoice?
I believe that there must be a mistake on my invoice because I never agreed to extra services and yet I was invoiced R 5130,40 for the above-mentioned services.
Up to now I have had no response from Hertz to my complaint, just an automated e-mail.

Drive carefully - rent carefully
Car rented in Hertz Eindhoven Airport. Return on time, full tank. My credit card charged € 268,34 the maximum refuelling price + Fuel Service Charge. After call to rental office they refund all amount but charged me 56,17 € for the 76 km overmilage. In rental agreement and at the rental desk they said 0,16 € for every extra kilometer, but I get the invoice 0,74 € per extra kilometer. I sent a claim to HERTZ AUTOMOBIELEN NEDERLAND. Here is the answer :
" Your rate included 150km free, however you drove 226km. We charged you for the 76km you drove in excess of your allowance. The invoice is correct.
No further adjustments will be made to your invoice. Please also note that any reply to this email will go unanswered, we now consider this dossier as closed "
The answer fully shows their approach to customers. At the rental desk they offer the Theft Protection Insurance. I'm wondering if this also cover money stolen by themselves...

I’ve rented a car with #hertz in Sevilla, and this was a real bad experience. It started when we got the car. We had a discount on the site @booking. We had the second driver for free, at the reception they said this wasn’t true. It would be €113, they do not take into account discounts from booking. After I said this wasn’t fair and I would fill in a complaint form we finally got our discount. When we brought our car back (with a full tank), they asked for a ticked from the gasstation. They didn’t told us to keep this ticket, so we didn’t. They told us we had to pay for gas, as you know they charge a lot for the gas! So again, I was frustrated and went to the reception. Explained my problem, at first they didn’t really listen. They told us they weren’t charging anything extra for the gas. But they wouldn’t put this in writing. I didn’t trust them, so I complained on twitter. At first they wouldn’t helpt me, because the reservation was with (And had a booking client number instead of one of them). Then they gave me e-mail off the spaninsh office. Last but not least they now charge me with an extra fee for dropping of the car at the downtow office instead of the airport while I did pick up and dropped of the car at the airport

Please use OTHER RELIABLE car rental company. My story was using Hertz for a 5-6 times , but in the Amsterdam Airport this kind of situation happened. I rented a car for my 2 day trip and was provided with a car. I was provided with key and parking lot number, picked up car and drive away. When I return car I was charged ~ 600 euros for a scratch on a front bumper . But the car was parked in the Hotel parking lot for 2 days. Hertz stuff found scratch in 1 minute and it is barely visible, I asked other costumers to find a scratch and only 1 out of 6 find a scratch within 8 minutes :D. So make you own conclusion. But my suggestion is DO NOT USE HERTZ SERVICE. They will lie to you one day..

On the 1st of June 2016, three Hertz global customers arrived at the Hertz copenhagen downtown office to collect the rental car, which was pre-booked online. The staff at the counter was David "McGuee ". The customers wanted to pay for the rental in cash(376 DKK) David M advised they don't give back any changes as they have no such service, hence the customers went through all of their bags to search for the exact change(you can imagine when travelling in another country, the nonsense of this), when this failed, one of the customers presented her Amex to pay for the charges. The card was swiped twice, it was declined, she then presented her MasterCard, which is from the same account, it went through successfully. So this customer made a comment "your company MAY not take Amex". Next thing this David McGuee guy was shouting "don't tell me what I can or can't do! Do you want the car or not" he was rude, aggressive and abusive. So the customer said "keep your car"! David M guy immediately cancelled the customers booking and shouted at the same time "get out!" The customer said " once we put out stuff away we will leave". Once again, the david McGuee guy shouted "get out, f$&@"! So the customer at this stage could no longer held back"f$&@ you too! You mother f$&@er!" The fuckward D M then said "get out or I will call the police". The customer said " please do. We would also like to talk to your manager". The fuckward DM then said " he is not coming till 10:00"! So the customers sat down and waited for the police to come. In the meantime, one of the three customers rang Hertz Denmark service centre to report the incident and seeking resolution. A lady by the name Angelica spoke to the customers and basically said there was nothing she could do as far as renting the car is concerned and she would cancel the booking due to the incident, however, she could start the claim process and investigate. She would get back to the customers later on the day. While the customer was on the phone, the fuckward DM was yelling in the background to interrupt the customer to report the incident to the customer service manager. Also, at approx 9:30am, the fuckward DM notified the customers that the police would not be coming (NFK) and it is ok for the customers to wait for the manager to come. At approx 10:05, the shop manager Stuart Murray, showed up and spoke to the customers. He basically repeated what Angelica told the customers and he took the customers details, he also promised the customers he would get back to then later that day. The customers went on to hire a car from Avis. In the morning of 2nd of June, not only the customers were not contacted for any resolution, instead one of the customers received statement of charges for a car that was declined by Hertz. This is unacceptable, greedy, irresponsible behavior by the Denmark Hertz company! This rude, arrogant company should be condemned and boycotted globally till they start to treat their customers properly!

They have charged Double the initial price and have not given any reasons... this is illegal, choose another rental Company for your own sake..

Over an hour late, this was no good for me so had to cancel, still have to pay £30 cancel fee, funny if i was late collecting or returning they charge me, dont bother go to anyone else
