First, in December, they told me that the oranges would ship in January. Late February I received the oranges, they basically had no flavor to them, so I called customer service and told me that they only ship to the West Coast once a month. So, she offered me another dozen oranges that would come in April. They arrived, with one covered in fungus. I’m done with them.

I ordered two sets of honeybells, two trays each. According to the web site, I was to get 18 pounds/24 pieces. Both shipments weighed in at 11.5 pounds including the cardboard trays, 12.5 with the box. Yes, 24 pieces, but only 2/3 the amount of fruit that I paid for. The customer support person told me that the boxes were shipped as weighing 18 pounds. So they lost 6 pounds in shipping? What's wrong with this picture? Deceptive advertising? It's possible that 24 pieces of grapefruit could weigh 18 pounds, but honeybells? Never. The upshot is that they gave me some money back on my credit card, but I'd rather have had the delicious honeybells.

After ordering oranges for 3 years running without issue, we got a dozen emails about a half price sale. I placed an order for "buy one get one free." Seemed simple enough. Instead of a reduced price they actually charged me $8 extra for the same thing! It went from $92 per case to $100! When I made the call to state my case I fully expected a cheerful apology and quick refund to a repeat customer. After explaining what had happened to several mentally handicapped clerks in the ordering department, I was meant with hostility, implying that I somehow didn't know what I was talking about. I passed 3rd grade math. None could grasp the fact that whatever the new charge was on a sale item, it had to be less than the regular price. Da! I got stone walled in several attempts to get the problem corrected. I finally ended up with the accounting dept. that partially rectified the overcharge. We were refunded $25. On the half price on a $92 purchase I saved a whomping $17 after refund. You do the math.

Do not order from this company. I ordered items for two family members at Christmas. I received confirmations that both had been delivered to the address on the orders. However one Family member never got their order and the other family member report the gift was left at the post office (not delivered to home address as claimed). I called customer service on 12/28 to discuss and they said they would refund money for unschooled item because this type of thing happens and they are responsible for shipping. Yesterday, 1/14/19 I get email saying they will not be refunding my money saying they are not responsible and I need to bring the lack of delivery up with the USPS. I order a lot online and never have I had a company disavow their responsibility for shipping a package. So my mother in law never got her gift this Christmas and I am out the $40.

Recently I called in an order for Sugar Belles Gourmet Collection from their catalog #H9CH4CF, On the front cover it says FREE SHIPPING NO MINIMUM, PROMO CODE HPAB. When I placed the order the agent told me there was an additional sale discount. Catalog price is $34.99, sale price $29.99. I gave him my debit card with an agreed price of $29.99 including free shipping. I later checked my bank account only to find a charge of $39.99. I called Hale back and talked to another lady that told me I had to pay shipping, although the front of their catalog said free shipping NO MINIMUM . Agreeing to a charge and charging more is not only bad business but illegal. They did remove the charge about four days later after I canceled my order.
Never again will I do business with them, or recommend them.

I ordered a shipment for a friend to be delivered by Valentine's Day. The order was placed Jan 23, 2019 which permitted more than enough time to arrive. Today being the 13 of February, no gift arrived. I called several times and spoke to 2 managers, to no avail. Yesterday I requested that a different shipment be sent 2 day air so that a gift would be there on Valentine's Day. Today I recalled and wound up asking for a full refund. POOR customer service- would highly NOT recommend Hale Groves.
Saturday (Feb 16th) my package that I ordered from Hale Groves . 2 oranges were in OK shape- the rest of the box had rotten oranges. Other than Hale Groves issuing credit, nothing else was done (ie. send a different shipment.) What a CRAP organization. BUYER BEWARE!

I can not begin to express just how great my case of Bright Red Grapefruit is. I just received my 3rd order December 28, 2018. This order is fantastic in size of each fruit and the wonderful taste. I placed all three trays (minus one single fruit I ate immediately) into my refrigerator. Now I am enjoying the best tasting Grapefruit I have ever had and I have eaten hundreds. Thanks Hales, I will place an order for my 4th case in a couple of weeks. I discovered that the 3 Tray case is perfect for us.

We got a 16 piece (4 fruits) box from Hale as a gift from my brother. The grapefruits were small, not very flavorful or juicy; the pears were mediocre not ripe - very little pear taste, not juicy; the oranges resembled actual eating oranges except the variety they offered was not one of the best two or three varieties noted for the best orangy flavors; the apples were mediocre - obviously picked before they were ripe. Hale chose their varieties for 'shipping hardiness' - not for flavor and picked them before they were ripe. Save yourself money and go to a decent grocery store instead.

As a Christmas gift to me, my husband ordered 1 tray of honeybells, and 2 trays of grapefruit. While the shipment was timely, the product was unremarkable. Typically one must eat a honeybell over the sink because they are so juicy. Not Hale honeybells. In fact, the stem ends of the fruit were dried out and pulpy. The flesh was chewy and a few of them had to be thrown away. The grapefruit were small, and no better than what is at the grocery store. The most disappointing part of all this is that Hale was unresponsive to an email expressing our negative experience.

I was considering shipping fruit to my son and his family again this year, but after asking him about the shipment I sent (for the first time ever sending anything perishable) last Christmas, I will not be ordering again. I was embarrassed to find that not only was the fruit not up to expected standards of freshness but it arrived in a damaged condition and was not eaten for these reasons. My son did not want to tell me as he knew I would be upset. Please do not keep sending me catalogs (I have already received two) as I will not take this chance again. #3043-536-0134.

I had been a Harvey's customer since the 1980s, then they just vanished. I found they sold out or something like that to Hales Groves. This is a disappointment. I ordered my usual (for Harvey's) Navels for Thanksgiving. They arrived on time but were a bit weak on the flavor. I thought that maybe is was a tad early in the season. In the meantime, I ordered a small box of grapefruit for a friend for Christmas. She stated they were smaller than the prior ones but tasted fine.
My second box of navels I ordered for Christmas week. They arrived on time, but these were not FLORIDA navels. They were California oranges. Quite disappointing.
I purchased my last box of mail order oranges. So sad. I looked forward to them every year for decades.

I received a gift of fruit and other items on Dec 12. The oranges were completely green with mold. At first I didn't realize what they were. The pears were bruised and had small cuts in them. I had never heard of Halegroves but my niece had sent them. I didn't want to tell her how bad it was so I contacted customer service. I was told a replacement would be sent but could not be sent until after Christmas which seemed strange to me. They also asked me to send them pics of the fruit via email which I did. No response and no fruit. The woman I spoke with said this never happens. REALLY? I'm the only one? I would suggest NEVER using this company. They really don't care what they send out

Order No. P5230031
Dec. 14, 2018
Imagine opening a Christmas package expecting to find big juicy navel oranges and finding oranges more the size of a tangerine. Advertised as a “Sampler tray, approx. 4 lbs” (item #101NC2X) and as it was shipped at 3 lbs 6 oz gross weight with the oranges weighing in at 2 pounds and 12 ounces. Looks like the “… approx. 4 oz …” should be stated as the gross weight to make the customers aware of what they are really going to get. As to the quality of the oranges if I had seen these 6 oranges in a grocery store I wouldn’t have bought them. I just hope the Honeybells are a better quality than the oranges.
I also sent this same item as a Christmas gift to a relative and will be calling her in a few minutes to apologize for the gift. Mr. Alex Brown, President of Hale Grove, I don’t think you are living up to your statement on page 2 of your catalog “… they deserve the best. Give them Hale Groves.”
Don’t fall for this, as I would call it, the bait and switch of “Free Shipping No Minimum”. Make sure you read the really small print at the bottom of the last page that states if the item has been discounted free shipping is not valid. I bought the 101NC2X Sampler Tray with 10% off and I feel it was not a good deal because the shipping cost more than you get with the 10% reduction. Best deal is to buy the item(s) at full price and take the free shipping or even a better buy them in a bag at a grocery store where you can see what you are getting and pay a lot less per orange.
A disappointed, dissatisfied and not delighted customer

Tried to place an order but it did not like a valid credit card, gave no reason. Tried calling their number and got a salesman trying to sell me a cruise. Could never get to Hale Groves - spent couple of hours -- WHAT A WASTE

For the last ten years I have been ordering at every Xmas about a dozen various sized fruit boxes. When Hale groves changed ownership A few years ago, I continued with them. NOT this year!!.
The last 2 seasons I have received spoiled fruit mixed in with fresh, maybe 10-15% spoilage. Last year I received an entire crate of spoiled mimi belles that seemed to have sat around for a month. This was not usable as a gift and not edible at any price, let alone the premium prices Hale charges
I’ve called to complain both years, and got ZERO consideration other than a weak “so sorry” message.

I purchased Georgia Peaches 3 times this summer. Thankfully the
first 2 shipments were sent to a very dear friend, and he raves that
the peaches are the best he ever tasted, had no bruises, and were
ready to eat the moment he opened the box.
I ordered a box of 6 for myself, and received green bruised peaches
that I had to throw out to the birds. I was shocked.
May or may not order again.

I Ordered 4 Trays Navel Oranges & Ruby Red Grapefruit on 11/14/18 and was told it would arrive between 11/18- 11/21. Fedex tracking said would arrive on 11/20, when it did not arrive I called Hale and then found Fedex Smartpost changed delivery to 11/27. Was told by customer service if it did not arrive by today to call and something would be done. Today USPS who delivers Fedex smartpost said it would arrive 11/23. Called Hale again and was told there is nothing they can do. Will not be ordering from Hale again, I hope fruit is fine as weather will be in single digits
