I can't tell you how impressed and pleased I was with GotTheJob services.
At first I was hesitant to have someone I didn't know write my resume and coverletter because I feared that it would look like my old resume. Not so. I started the process by filling out a questionnaire that asked me detailed questions about what I'm doing in my current job and what I've done at prior jobs.
After that, a senior writer interviewed me and asked me questions about what I wrote in the questionnaire, and also asked me for a verbal description as to what I was really looking for. I gave example job titles, and even gave an example job position online. This is important---when you write a resume, it has to be geared towards the position or at least TYPE of position you are applying for. You have to let the employer know that you know something about the position and that you actually read what the job entails.
The short amount of time that it takes you to fill out the questionnaire and participating in the 20min interview is WELL WORTH IT. This is because you might be spending months spinning your wheels with a lack-of-luster resume like I did. It's not that I had a lot of negative feedback in the past---I just wasn't getting ANY feedback---employers and hiring managers would never get back to me at all, even after making a follow-up phone call to make sure they received my application materials, which was infinitely frustrating.
I was impressed with how the senior writer understood what I wrote in the questionnaire and how she incorporated everything into the new resume and coverletter. I'm able to read my resume now and actually feel proud of the work I've done. As of a day ago, I just started applying for jobs using the new documents from GotTheJob, so we'll see what happens.
When I called the main number at GotTheJob, I initially asked for a complete package (resume, coverletter, plus recruiter). Don, the person who processed this call, said that I should try to the resume and coverletter services first---he basically wasn't trying to sell me on this huge package unless he felt like I needed it. This is how GotTheJob already earned an A. The A+ service comes from how awesome the resume and coverletter look---you'll see for yourself.
I highly recommend GotTheJob for these reasons. If you are going through a career transition like me, trust me. This will help you. To be specific---I earned my PhD in the biomedical sciences---transitioning out of that line of bench work into something that doesn't require a PhD can be a nightmare if you don't have a sense of the wording that you need on your resume and coverletter. Writers of resumes and coverletters have seen just about every situation you can imagine, so don't think that your situation is either too unique or unfixable.
The particular package I purchased included a resume and coverletter in Word format, directions on how to use your package, a document that gave a list of job websites, a larger document with tips on how to land a job, and importantly, text versions of your resume. Why is this text version important? Because oftentimes, when you apply for a job online, the organization/firm won't allow you to upload these documents from a directory. In the case where you need to copy and paste your resume or coverletter into a field, you can do that by copying what's in the TEXT FILE that GotTheJob gives you and pasting it into the appropriate field. If you just copy and paste from a Word document, it's not going to look right.
GotTheJob gave me so many other tips and heads-up in the hiring process. Thank you so much. I will recommend GotTheJob to people who are looking to either move up in their current position or are trying to make a major career transition.

I was very pleased with the new resume, cover letter and thank you letter. The process was easy and involved filling out a simple form and doing an approximately one hour interview. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The process took about 30 days from initial contact to completed packet. The owner explained that an outside factor out of the company's control occurred and stretched out the delivery time, which is understandable. My thought is that this company has grown and needs some deeper writer bench strength to get the turn-around time closer to 1-2 weeks while providing capacity to handle unexpected issues. Once I posted the new resume I started getting calls within hours, so I am very happy with the results.

The team of writers at gotthejob are very professional and know their industry. Not only did I get an excellent resume, but any questions I had about the best way to approach getting an interview was answered. I received two phone interviews within first week of sending out my resume for a director position. I also went from one view on LinkedIn a day to over 10!!!!

With the massive lay offs happening, there are a lot of good people who are looking for jobs and it would be really hard just to get you noticed or shortlisted. A former colleague of mine told me to try the services of Don Goodman. At first, I was hesitant considering the amount of money you will be spending but I went through with it anyway. I must say that it was one of the best decisions I made! When I got my final package and started with my job search, I was surprised to get a lot of emails and phone calls from recruiters. My resume was getting noticed by multinational companies. It took me only a month or two in the market when I got numerous job offers. I have leveraged Don and his team twice in five years. His consultative style combined with excellent fact-finding result in a beautiful representation of your career. It's kind of like getting a new haircut when, at the end of the session, they turn the chair around and you simply can't believe how good you look. :-) Don's team is terrific at highlighting your accomplishments in a way that you probably can't. Even though I'm not currently looking, I just had Don refresh my resume to reflect the latest styles and OCR readability in addition to my new work experience. I'm extremely pleased once again. When I decided to make a career change, I started to review the best way to have my resume updated. I am a senior executive so I wanted to make sure I choose the best option for my situation. I spent some time reviewing a number of options and companies to help me complete this very important task. I reviewed web sites and made phone calls for about 10 different company's. After reviewing GottheJob.com's web site, I decided to call and learn more. My call was picked up by Don the owner of the company, this was unusual as all of the other companies I called had either an operator/CSR answer the phone, or a sales person. As a seasoned professional the choice to hire someone to write your resume is one of the most important choices in one's career. I HIGHLY recommend Got the Job ! Don( owner), did a great job paring me with an exceptional resume writer- Tina. I have no idea how she did it but I wanted to jump up and down after reading my resume!! I am a senior level sales professional. I know how to get the job once I get the interview, but what Don does is GETS ME THE INTERVIEW.
I recently decided to change jobs. I called Don. (Again!)
I believe strongly in making the best first impression, and I needed to have the acronyms and relevant talking points, as well as experience and information presented in the most professional and positive light possible.
It took me less than 5 days..... FIVE DAYS... to get the call for the job I never thought I would get. Don opened the door and I did the rest, but that door opening is the most important part. You can have NO MISTAKES, no mis-spellings, nothing that is wrong on a resume these days.
This is my third time working with Don. Each time he has far surpassed my expectations and I have gotten the job, a better job.
I recommend him highly. (and trust me, the money is so well spent in investing in yourself and your career). The resume did not get me the job, I did that. But it opened the door for me. And that was all I needed.

The interview and questionnaire were very thorough. However, I am switching careers and following advice. Therefore asking me to pick a job description that best fits me is a little like shooting in the dark. I called with one career in mind, that I had researched well, and was suggested another I had not considered at all. However, the two have some similarities so all should be good.
Working with the resume' writer was very easy. For now, hats off to Paula....

Don and his team did an excellent job writing my resume. I had been a long term employee at IBM and did not understand today's job market. The resume writer was professional, asking focused questions to create the best resume possible. He got it done within a few days, and it looked amazing. My husband was so impressed. Within a week of posting it, I had several inquiries. 4 weeks after I posted it, I had an offer. I truly believe this resume helped me get the recruiter's attention so I was able to interview. When it is time for an update, I will utilize them again. Furthermore, I would recommend them to any of my co-workers, friends, or family members.
