Alexandria has provided me with excellent customer service and their software is perfect for our needs!

I have been using Alexandria for several years, and I enjoyed the new features available in my upgrade to version 7 (from v. 5) last year. Being able to access the software over the Internet is wonderful and streamlines adding catalog-search computers. I feel like most of the menus and features are intuitive, and I love that the software searches for pictures of items in our collection on its own in the background. I look organized, and the students love being able to see cover art in their searches! However, I had some trouble with the software last year, and though tech support were kind and helpful, some of the software's functionality is still not restored. I wish that documentation for do-it-yourself licensees were more basic and easy for amateurs to use. I understand that hosting on the cloud is easier for Companion Corp., but my budget won't allow for that.

I've been using Alexandria Library Software for eight years in my school library. For the most part, is uncomplicated to learn and use. There are so many applications available from this software! I would like to have more training, though, such as tutorials for different applications.

Using the new server/client 7.x version. Not too happy as there are lots of bugs. Wasting precious library time to iron out the deficiencies and report errors, all while trying to be productive.
Alexandria Tech Support desk is wonderful though, very accommodating & answers customer queries promptly. Emails back if I get disconnected with them, while working through an issue.

Most of the time, Alexandria is ok. Sometimes I think there is a lot of clicking here, then there to get the information needed. It's hard to see who had a book out last when it was already checked in, and then I found some damage, and want to see who had it last. the list shows from the first checkout, and I can't see who was last.

I don't have issues with the program

I have used Alexandria for 5 years now and find it easy to use for circulation and it also is easy to use to catalog materials and run reports. I do find the researcher portion for student use a little clunky, especially the title and subject search (or browse portion). I think that it should just have an advanced search and simple search.

I love using Alexandria in our library. We use most of the features regularly, including: title assistant, self check out kiosk, automatic emailing of overdue notices, customized Researcher, and running specific reports. It was easy for me to "genre-fy" our fiction section by simply using the "copy shelving" field. Some functions can be somewhat complicated and take time to figure out. The CompWiki site has been very helpful with detailed instructions. Reaching tech support can be difficult and has been somewhat unproductive. Overall, I love the software and all that it can do.

It has been my experience over the past 10 years that Alexandria is a very reliable system. Your tech support folks are super helpful and always wiling to troubleshoot when I have problems. There are so many aspects to Alexandria that even after using it for 10 years I feel I am just scratching the surface of all that it offers.

I have used Alexandria in my school library for many years and I have always been happy with it. I have had maybe one or two issues over many years of use and each time the issues were resolved quickly by Alexandria's tech support.

Prompt and clear customer support. Product updates frequently enough to implement new features and fix glitches but not too often to be inconvenient. Database features continue to become more user-friendly.

Alexandria is very librarian and elementary student-friendly. There are occasions I have to refer to the manual when trying to use the software but not very often.

The software is relatively easy to use and very affordable. We have no problems training new users to run the library side of things or to use the software as a patron. We do not use all of the features - like Explore - and we do not use any of the paid add-ons. We used to subscribe to Sneak Peek, which I thought was great, but students did not ever use it.
Support, when I've needed it, has been very responsive and friendly. I think there was only one time in my 11 years using Alexandria where we couldn't fully solve the problem without a workaround. I was satisfied with the workaround, so I considered it solved.
As an administrator, it is easy to import and export demographic information (though having to figure out what the column heading numbers should be can be frustrating - please let us use column heading text). Importing MARC records and student photos is a breeze, too.
The reports could be more flexible. There is information on reports that we don't need, and we can't get rid of. For example, we don't charge fines, so that should never be on a patron report. There is information we would like on reports, but is not available on all of the reports, so we sometimes have to run more than one report and cross-reference.
I would also like to be able to export a report into a format other than PDF or COMPedit format. A .csv file would be very helpful, especially when needing to pull data from two reports.
Being able to customize what actually shows on reports, and being able to export report data for use in a spreadsheet would make this review 5 stars. Alexandria is definitely an appreciated value in this school district.

i do not have any trouble with our Alexandria system. It is very efficient for our needs. I have needed customer service a few times over the last couple of years, mostly for beginning and ending of year. They have been very helpful and have always solved my problems.

I love Alexandria but I do think that the help section while extensive could be more user friendly. Not all of the prompts and commands are intuitive and at times I felt like I've been give instructions but not how to get to the location to start the instructions.
I like the ease of checking books in and out and the record keeping. I like the options I get with the program but still unsure how to use it. My school is small so I hope you keep the many levels of intricacies as to keep our small library system simple. Thanks

We have been a long time customer of Alexandria. They have stable products, great support, and constant eyes on how to improve. We have been quite satisfied.

As this is the only library software I have used, I don't really have anything to compare it to; however, the few wishes I have are more customization to the reports. Also, it would be helpful to have a spanish version of some of the reports such as overdue letters or notices.

I have been using Alexandria for 4 years. Mid year 3 I upgraded to the online only version (7). Since then I spend more time then ever cataloging, adding patrons, trying to keep the system in shape. The system is not quick or easy to use.
I have made suggestions which seem easy to put in place and the technical services/support teams supports have gone downhill. They often do not know how to do things in 7 as well.
Disappointed in the product at this time.
