Very frustrated with my system. I spent a good deal of time researching all brands including Simplesafe, and decided on abode. I've spent close to $2,000 on various components, plus ongoing monthly monitoring. For the most part, the system worked well. I recently upgraded to the new keypads and have had all kind of problems since. First, the kitchen camera fired every time I entered the house, which ultimately drained the battery. That was evidently fixed by your support team, but at the same time, the keypad now indicates that they can't get a signal. I never had that problem with the older keypad, in both cases, the gateway is located about 30 feet away inside a cabinet (I prefer to have these things hidden), but next to my wireless router that performs perfectly, transmitting wireless signals throughout 3 stories. So, before the gateway was operational, now it's not. The support team indicated I need to have the gateway outside a cabinet--although that was not the case previously. And now, I'm getting messages that the batteries for the keypads need replacing, even though they are less than one month out of the box! At the same time, now the foyer camera batteries need replacing. First, there seems to be a communication problem with the new keypads as before the connection was fine, now, its' not. Next, I didn't buy this system having to climb up, disable, take down and replace batteries every few months. I expect a bit more, especially given how much this system cost. At this point, I cannot recommend abode as a well-functioning security system.

Cellular backup issues from the first day it was purchased and customer service became less responsive after 2 months of trying to resolve the issue. Still continue to have issues making the unit work properly.

We’ve been using Abode for about 2 years, and have been very pleased. Its super simple to use and install, and has been very reliable. The only issue we have is that the keypad doesn’t always “catch” the first time you punch in the code. We have to check for the right lights before walking away. Not sure why it suddenly started doing that. Otherwise, we’ve been very pleased, and are happy we chose Abode!

We live in Chile (South America) so the are things we can’t use, but the rest works very well.
We have also integrated some smart things (like lights and a thermostat and everything is working ok)

The geofencing is amazing, we never forget to enable the alarm. We have the door chime set so that we know if a kid opens a door or window they shouldn't. And the automated alarm set at night means I can sleep in peace, even if I forget too lock a door, because if it's opened the alarm is immediately triggered. Our neighborhood is a good one, so the concern isn't high, I mainly wanted the home automation features! And my goodness! I can set geofencing up to disable the alarm, unlock the garage-kitchen door and open the garage, so when I get home I'm easily able gain access to the house. I plan on getting a smart light switch so I'm never entering a dark house. Baby steps :)

It was a great product until I had to contact customer service because devices were not responding on the app. They inform me that the backup cellular service wasn’t connecting. I have also stopped getting calls when the alarm is activated asking if the police need to be called. Now I am constantly wondering if the any of the products I am paying for are working.

I'm really happy with my Abode system. It was easy to setup and integrate with Alexa. Customer support has been good. It took me few tries to setup geo fencing to disarm when I came home, but it works great once I did.
I plan to start adding smart home devices soon and there is plenty of documentation how to add.

I’ve had Abode for over a year, and have been adding hardware as I can afford them. Abode is very easy to use and integrates very well with other hardware. It’s unfortunate that companies like Nest don’t make it easy on Abode to make the integration more seamless. If Abode offered high quality hardware for certain functions, such as a thermostat and fire/carbon monoxide alarms, I’d choose Abode. Nonetheless, as I mentioned, it does a good job at connecting and monitoring the other devices as well, within certain limits established by the other brands. My only recommendations thus far, based on the Abode products I have, is that I wish re-setting the WiFi-enabled devices, such as the video cameras, didn’t require taking it down and hard-wiring it in order to re-set the WiFi settings. And the second recommendation is that it have video cloud storage, which my understanding is that they are working on it. But that’s really minor. As long as you have a stable internet, the Abode System will update itself and do its job very well. It’s not a cheap system, but, then again, you’ll get the quality you pay for. The camera, motion sensor, and door sensors all work flawlessly, and it integrates seamlessly with my Z-Wave door lock. All-in-all, it’s a great system and I’m very glad I did my research and chose it.

Abode works great as a home security device with a lot of customizability with what you can use and I love how there are many options in security plans aswell. But, that is where the good ends. The home automation section is not as good as smart things as it's a closed system and is very limited with what you can use. The lack of multiple homes with one account also makes things more difficult then it needs to be. The lack of a presence fob like smartthings is also a downer. The ability to support 3rd party cameras would be great, such as rtsp feeds, or maybe pair up with the people at tinycam to impliment their camera software library. The android app needs some actually good widgets, such as a log with recent activity and shortcuts to control certain devices like light switches and plugs.
Abode is a great system, but it is definitely lacking alot of key things.

Best home security on the market. The tech is great and the built in home automation features make it a great platform.
The fact that I can do self monitoring and don’t have to purchase professional monitoring make this a great value proposition. And the availability of short term monitoring for when I’m gone on vacation make this the most flexible security system on the market.
On top of all of that, it’s easy to install and use.

Overall works well. I like the business model of DIY home security with optional monitoring. I have had no issues with product hardware and I think pricing is fair for what I received. My gripes are more on software side. A little annoyed that while claiming to integrate with schlage zwave lock, it doesn't actually feature full features. Can add device and control lock/unlock state but no code management that other systems have or the lock is capable handling. I think this is true for several other 3rd party devices. Documentations claims to be compatible, but only with limited functionality and they don't really give detail or explain what the limitations are. Would have been nice to know prior to purchasing with out having to search forums and other customer feedback, it should be listed on the site with the list of supported 3rd party hardware.
Also today I just tried to update some automations. They do not show up when I log in, even though I just had one trigger. The ability to update or add CUE automations is currently down with no notifications. That said, I called and got a relatively quick response with a fix to the issue. So far have had good customer support.
Other minor complaint, but not totally sure it is Abodes fault. The location service to automate system through phone is a bit of a battery drain. I think it may just be the nature of having a location service like this run in the background.
I give a slight pass on some of the software issues. I know they are continuously updating and working on it and are relatively new. With a few updates, this 4 star review would bump up to 5 stars.

Very poor customer service once you purchase the product. Also, no comprehensive owner's manual/tutorials. Thus, unless you already have a firm grasp on programming and home security this product is not for you. The water sensor is far too sensitive as well.

The product works, but has a lot of flaws and drawbacks compared to competitors. abode focuses too much on automation tools that are largely unnecessary, and not enough on basic features (like having a panic button… Part of every successful home alarm system for the last several decades). The company needs to get its act together when it comes to shipping products. I went for over a month without a keypad, so most members of my family could not disarm the alarm. The alarm itself is still quirky, with random sounds, lights and errors happening throughout the day that are unexplained. Customer support has a nonchalant attitude about everything, takes hours to get back to customers on important issues, and The representatives generally lack enthusiasm and knowledge on the product.

I absolutely love the Abode System and the wonderful support staff that assisted me with paring the new System Status Light. The sensors and Gateway were very easy to install. The automations that can be done are easy to set-up and are quite extensive.

I have had an amazing experience with the products. They have worked since I got them and I really enjoy all of the features they provide. I will likely continue using them. My only complaint is that the few times I have contacted customer service, it left some to be desired. It is clear the preferred method is to have someone send an email. Sometimes you just want to be able to talk to a person and when I did it wasn’t a super helpful conversation. Other than that, I have loved my experience with Abode.
