Where’s the compassion!?
I was appalled to overhear a conversation this morning in my local BHF charity shop.
The manager was telling her colleague about a homeless man who had sat outside in the rain all day the previous day. She said at the end of the day he came into the shop and asked her if she had any spare clothes that he could have. She told her colleague ‘Why should he have anything for free when he’s been begging all day. He can pay just like everyone else.’
We had a terrible storm that previous day and the homeless man must have been soaked through and cold. I can only imagine what she said to him. Did she not think that any money from begging would have gone towards something to eat and drink?

Not interested in goods if they have to collect it. A very well maintained heavy corner glass TV cabinet not wanted if I an elderly widow can’t deliver it to Scunthorpe store.

Booked a collection 3 weeks previously for 2 leather sofas. Got up at 7am so I did not miss collection. Received a phone call at 12.o clock to say they would arrive between 2 and 6. It is now 7 o clock and no further contact. Will not be donating again such a shame as the as I give hundreds of pounds worth of goods to charity. I donot have time to lose a full day on time wasters.

Disgusted was told to box pots and pans which I did. so they took 2 small tables one small cabinet that was it. my mum just died leaving plenty of things. my grandson has Congenital heart disease I thought it would be a good gesture to give my mums items to the heart foundation. when they arrived today they told my sister everything had to be dismantled everything. it says on your website how many bags I bagged up 12 bags of good bedding curtains none was taken when my sister asked why are you not taking anything she was told you have to phone another number for that this is not true as your website tells you to put how many bags?. What a waste of time never will use this charity again.

Won’t be using again waited in all day for your van to turn up was given the hours between 7.30-11am which was good for me I took the day of work, only for it to get to 1pm no show of the truck. the driver then rang me to inform me he was held up due to a problem with the Van (least he had the decency to inform me) but when he arrived he was passive aggressive, rude his assistant was lovely she was polite, explained to me what happens to items in store explained how gift aid works. The driver didn’t want to take the item which was a 3+1 suite no damage in perfect condition but he took it when I said it has a fire label and no real reason not to take it. he shouted at the assistant calling her Names, shouting at her. it was horrible experience can’t not give enough credit to the young girl I didn’t get her Name but lovely too see a youngster being so polite and helpful unlike some.

It took me a lot of time to book them in, that was the first thing that happend, after that they said that they will call before arriving on the day of collection, again something that did not happen. And the third thing is that they did not even took what they supposed to because of a minor excuse. Is a fricking donnation, is not like I am charging money for this, also its not like whoever buys from a charity shop will be picky about something as there are ussualy people with less money that are from them. Pretty bad and stupid experience, wasted a lot of time waiting and for nothing/ Next time I will get a paid service which does its job. Donations are definetly stupid and picky for no reason or with no justificaton at all. How can you refuse a fricking perfect functioning fridge.

Very upset with the customer service I've received. They wouldn't allow me to return the piece of furniture that turned out to be rotten & with mould growth under the veneer which peeled off after a few months.
They wouldn't even take the furniture back as a donation, told me that that would cost them money.
How unethical and cheap from one of the largest charities in the country that get's it's stock and a lot of it's labour for free.
I will never support any of their stores again. Head office wasn't any better in the treatment of customers.

Won't be using again.
I logged on to the BHF website ( I've donated to them in the past ) and requested a collection of items I wanted to donate. I was contacted by phone 3 days later to confirm the date of collection. I waited in all day and no one turned up, no one contacted me.
I got in touch with another charity PETRUS, 2 really nice men turned up when they said they would and took all the items. I'll be dealing with them in future.
I think BHF are good people but they need to ensure that their collection drivers are more reliable otherwise they will lose a lot of donations to other charities.

Put an order in for five packs of Christmas cards on the 1st December. This included a small donation & gift aid. Received an email to say they had received the order & would be in touch when ready for delivery. Waited & checked each day but no email & no delivery. Finally phoned to see what was happening & was told that an email had been sent notifying me that one of the packs was out of stock & awaiting my instructions!,!!!!!!
I did NOT receive this email. Said they would check stock of remaining packs......... all out of stock except one 😡I asked why they didn’t send the four packs that were in stock in the first place but didn’t receive a satisfactory reply. I asked to cancel the order & give me a full refund which they did & the email came through straight away!!!!!!!!!! Won’t be ordering again from them.

They will sell you somewhat broken furniture but even the same needs to be given back to them as a donation they'll make all sorts of excuses and will even lie about not selling any broken furniture ever.

Rubbish.... When I did my order all items in stock.... then I was told 1 item out of stock, would I like a replacement or refund.... I requested a replacement of equal value... then I had to chase the order up, only to be told all items ordered out of stock....Needless to say I will not use them again...

This is the crapiest and most horrible company I have ever heard of.After donating many things to them one of the sale assistant starts shouting at me in the shops that I am not allowed there with food and starting shouting again that this is not a restaurant.(I just had a some croissant in my hands)After I told her that there is no label on the door she started shouting again saying that there is and went in the back of the store think that I will go away not questioning her about the missing label. When she returned I asked her and she did not said anything just started shouting again at me saying that this is not a restaurant.I called BHF customer service the out of hours mobile and left several messages but no reply. After a couple of days I called again and they said that they haven't received my messages. How is that possible ????as the messages were all sent .....:(This proves the professionalism and the quality of your services and lack of communication between your staff... I told them the issue with the very rude assistant and explaining to them that this behaviour isn't unacceptable anywhere and more over in a charity shop being a pathological state of mind of their employee. They told me they will investigate the matter and call me in 2 weeks time with a resolution. They never called me and therefore I went again in the store asking to talk with the manager but she was not in and I talked with another sale assistant and explained the situation and she will let the manager know. After another days where I have not been informed I went in the shop again and on this ocassion the manager was there .She said that nobody has been informed her of anything and without even knowing the facts and no talking to the employee that she is a very good one and that she will still continue to work there regardless of any situation and behaviour she may have. When I told the manager that what she did was inappropriate in U.K. she started saying in an arguing upsetting matter that why I only talk about this country because we are living in the uk that's why I said specifically about this country.Very unpseting racist and angry behaviour of the manager. What more can I say and do after this experience......
SHAME BHF SHAME and again SHAME of the quality of your services you provide and your staff that is just beyond any horror imagination.I promise you here that I will take this matter further with a solicitor and I will not be bullied again by your rasist uneducated people! How on earth can a manger say to me that she will keep the employee regardless what she did????Do you even think of the kind of people you have there or your only main concern and focus is money?...This matter will not get by just like that I will not allow anyone to talk to me and shout in a public place with full of people and make myself emarased and mentally bad...
because of your rude employees that think that they have the right to talk however they please........I hope one day the government close you because you don't deserve to be treated nice after they way you treat people.....Shame of you!

I went into BHF in Bromley, Kent and saw a scarf I wanted to purchase. I gave £10.00 to the BHF assistant who stated she could not give me my correct change as the shop hadn't the small change to give me. It was a small amount but even so if I had proffered my payment short of the correct money they would not have let me purchase my item. I did complain to BHF but not much came of it. I was shocked that customers were being treated that was. In my opinion BHF were hard faced about my problem. This is a multi-million pound business and as far as I am concerned they were willing to short change me and think that they were doing nothing wrong. Count your change if you go there. Appalling!!!!!
No matter what the reply from BHF (June 2017) they are a hard faced charity who seem to think that they have the right to short change their customers because they are a charity. They earn millions each year. I proffered my money and was short changed. I had to ask for my original money to be returned. If I tried to short change them they would call the police!!!) I had a witness with me at the time!!!! This is my opinion!!!
And as for me getting in touch with whatever you call your Service Team no thanks!!!!!

I recommend visiting the site of the British Heart Foundation if you want to find objects of good quality price

I'm in the process of changing furniture in my house, and was on the verge of dumping my old (but still in good condition) furniture. Then someone suggested I'd donate them to BHF, so I thought why not. At least it would be of benefit for someone. Little did I know that doing so is proving to be quite more complicated than I expected at every step of the way, from the types of items that one can or cannot donate, to all the restrictions on what the collectors could and could not do, to the collection time slots, and so on .... Basically, it seems that they are the ones doing me a favor. This is very discouraging, and frankly I wouldn't bother again. In the future, I'll simply be taking my stuff to the skip next door.

I purchased an item which was delivered the following day. I think the delivery charge of £20 is a bit steep considering BHF is a charity. However i found the staff in the shop very helpful and Paul and Mike that made the delivery were very happy and full of smiles.
